Feeling pretty good about the Bears in this one.
But They've got a bullseye on them and so far the district has shot right through it. Perry will be pumped to get there "revenge" on the Black Bears.

Harlan County in a close 1.

I think it will be a close one.
Perry has played Whitley and especially Letcher very close and both teams beat HC.
Should be a good one.

But can Perry stop the run...?? But Perry is improved and had there chances to win ball games but just didn't capitalize..

Having seen both teams, they both have strengths and weaknesses. Harlan has the better of the two offensive lines, but Perry seems to be in a bit better physical shape. Harlan's QB is shifty and can move pretty well, but overall I think Perry may have more athletes.
It is going to be a great game either way.
The question is; has either team thrown in the towel. Both teams have had less than stellar seasons and sometimes young men get worn down by the tough seasons.
The teams that will have the most emotion and swag will win this game. Therefore I have to go with Harlan simply because they have had more success in the past few years and they have Tom Larkey on their sideline. In this game he will be worth a couple of TDs, just making good adjustments during the game.

That's definitely a possibility...
but I can promise you that the Commodores haven't thrown in the towel - they're desperate to win another game.
I think both of these teams will be fighting to the last second in this one since they are both coming off of heartbreakers.

That being said...
does anyone really think I'm going to pick the Cubs over Perry?
Commodores roll!!!!

I like HC chances if a few things happen. Can we stop or slow down PCC passing game and can we contain this running QB. One thing is for sure we can't leave receivers wide open like we did against WC. Larkey is back at calling plays with a full week of prep, last week I thought the play calling was dead on, when the power game wasn't there he adjusted to get the backs some space, plus he opened up and threw the ball. Now in saying all that , I look for HC to start fast and blow the doors off PCC. PCC will try to make a comeback at the end but will be too late. Then next week all the HC fans that's been hiding with their heads in the sand because of a bad season will be back on here for at least a week.

Both teams have a record of 1 win 7 losses. PC gives up 30 points a game and scores 19 points a game. HC scores 21 points a game and gives up 39 points a game. PC gives up 225 rush yards a game and 96 pass yards a game. HC gives up 220 rush yards a game and 142 pass yards a game. PC has only scored over 23 points in 1 game this year. HC has scored over 23 points in three games this year. That being said whoever can score 28 points will win this game. Both teams will play another team from Somerset in the first round of the playoffs, and just like that the season is over.
10-21-2014, 08:08 PM
Must win for both teams. Either want to face Pulaski/Southwestern in the playoffs, that's for sure. And Larkey needs this win BAD to silence his critics. Shame he has them in first place. Bears in a close one. 35-28.

Having seen both teams play Im going with Perry Central in this one. They had LCC on the Ropes and lost a hard fought game. My only reserve with this pick is how close HC played Whitley last week. I thought Perry looked alot better against LCC than their record suggests and talking with a PCC parent during the LCC game he said they have been very close to winning several games this year but just couldnt get it done. Im going with PCC at home 24-17. And WOW after the last 3 years I never thought I would be picking anyone in this district to beat HC much less them possibly not winning a district game all year!
10-23-2014, 06:49 AM
I'll take the Bears in this one 34-20
10-24-2014, 03:47 AM
Good luck to both teams it will be sad for either team to loose.
