Just how good is the young Mayfield defense?
#91
Obviously not since it has been stated numerous times that this is the year to get mayfield. What you seen last year in bowling green ain't near as an athletic team as what will be coming up the next few years.

Y'all are a senior heavy team so if may field was what exactly is your point.

mysonis55 Wrote:Might have something to do with the fact that this is a very predominately east site. If someone says good things about us or for that matter any west team, you guys flock in attack mode. Year after year when I mention that PT is good, here comes the flock. When I mention McCracken as being good, here comes the flock. When I say something about Caldwell or Murray, same thing. The funny thing is that if you checked this site at the beginning of the year you would think Williamsburg was the defending champs by all the chirping. But if I or anyone says a thing good about the real defending champs, here it goes. But yet, I am the one in the wrong. I love high school football and follow it more than most. My team is very much the center of my research and I know more than almost anyone about Mayfield since 1995. I have followed them around the state missing maybe a hand full of games and when I did, listening on the radio. So, I think when I say this defense is exceptional, I have a very good basis for my opinion.

You are A fan of A school that has been very successful, I see where you have
listed all these reasons, and you are actually pretty good at it, so I am going to ask you to show us the one thing that you seem to overlook. That is the size of your school (male student body) compared to the teams you have beaten. I know that when you played Williamsburg last year, you were actually A 2A school. not THE SIZE OF EVERY ONE ELSE. in 1A. KHSAA lets size of school lag for about 3 years before they change it. By the way Williamsburg is the 1st or second smallest school in KY> that plays football, Mayfield is the Largest school in KY. That KHSAA allows to play 1A football. I think that the enrollment of male students in any school is the single most telling Effect as to how well they will preform on the athletic field in any sport. You my good athletic friend or Fan are 2A playing in 1A- competition. As Bill Orily says where am I wrong. Do some research on that, You do great research. Well informed, Like 64sure.

First off, if you are going to ask someone to research something, at least research your post you know, to see if its in English.

Second, we haven't just beat a or 2aschools.

Third, we don't make the rules, we do have to play hem though.

Next, the burg is not the smallest or even 2nd smallest. The Futon's are smaller.

Next, our last title in 2a was with 1a numbers.

Last, what does any of that matter? after we got bet by LCA in 09, did we cry because they had 2a numbers? No!

Sorry on second, it's supposed to read 1a or 2a teams

killbilly usmc Wrote:We will find out a lot about this defense in 2 weeks. We will find out a lot about the offense as well. Caldwell defense isn't the cakewalk most everyone thought they were, but at the same time there offense ain't what some thought. If they score 35 I wouldn't say our defense is that great. If we give up over that I think Caldwell wins. There defense isn't bad especially there run defense. They did a better job against Murray than may field did. Hopefully 55 is on to something and there is more offense than has been shown, cause the offense I've seen won't move the ball well against Caldwell.

I would tend to agree with you about Caldwell. Aside from owensboro Catholic, they've put up more points than anyone in 2A. The only thing that sends up a red flag with Caldwell is how they let a 3-5 Christian County put 57 points on them? Their schedule is one of the worst and its hard to gauge them on how good they may be? They obviously don't have any trouble scoring but I'm not sure their defense will be able to compete with Mayfield? I think it'd be good for Mayfield to be a close game right before playoffs start, but I'm not sure their the ones to give it to them?

You know 55 I have always respected you, I most of the time disagree with you but, would never point out which or what Grammer mistakes you or anyone else make on this venue, that is very rude, and arrogant, I know my limitations, I know you are well educated and are excellent in grammer. I will be first to admit, that I misspell words and I certainly make mistakes in grammar. when I use the comma in the wrong place, or( !) I know that means to make a point or excitement. It really bothers me that I am not as good at that as you and other people. I am to old to let that bother me, I guess unlike you I will just have to find ways to live without that ability.
When I graduated from High school My father had been killed in my senior year, I had 6 other younger brothers and sisters, My mother had no money, I wanted to stay home and help her raise them they were so young, She wouldn't have it, so, I left home at 17 with 3.00 dollars in my pocket and an athletic scholarship not really smart enough to even think about college. Was graduated probably in A high school class of 30 about 26 or 27 But, with my christain back ground and the memory of my fathers insestance that I graduate from college, I made it. I HAD A LOT OF HELP, With that said 55 I want to apologize to you for my grammatical mistakes. I guess there were some things I had to leave along the way.

55 you never answered me does, or did Mayfield have an advantage over the rest of the 1A schools by being 2A size playing in 1A league. That is all I want to know. Like Bill O'Riley says where am I wrong? BY THE WAY WHERE IS WILLIAMSBURG IN REGUARD TO NUMBERS I thought they were last in KY.

What you said, if I have it right, was A whole bunch of nothing. 55 you sounded just exatly like A modern day politican. Just answer my question does A school with A enrollment much larger than another school have an athletic advantage. YES OR NO

Not as good as Williamsburg, Raceland, Pikeville, Hazard, Beechwood, Frankfort. But I will admit Mayfield is pretty good.

For the fifteenth dozen time Williamsburg is not the 1st or 2nd smallest, all you have to do is look at the realignment thread genius. There are at least 10 schools smaller than you. So I guess they could say the same. Would someone please post the new realignment numbers on here that knows how.
pjdoug Wrote:http://high-schools.com/directory/ky/#se...l_students
There was a realignment thread that had the numbers of enrollment from the khsaa by class the burg is 11th if I remember correctly. I couldn't even find the burg on the website you posted.

Your right Killbilly ymca or usmc Williamsburg was 11th in next year realignment.I think some of us just keep looking back 3 years ago, when y'all had 2A numbers. Would have been nice if you guys would have volunteer and moved up.. Confusednicker:
killbilly usmc Wrote:There was a realignment thread that had the numbers of enrollment from the khsaa by class the burg is 11th if I remember correctly. I couldn't even find the burg on the website you posted.

The realignment data the khsaa used for 2011-2014 is based off the average number of males in the total enrollment. They do have it listed on the khsaa website. Williamsburg I think was #7 and Mayfield was tied with Allen Central for having the highest male average with beechwood falling closely behind Mayfield.

With the argument their using that would mean that Allen Central would have an advantage and should be beating every 1a school they face? I'm sure Allen Central would much rather trade in their two wins and getting blown out by south Floyd for a good coach and program? Numbers do not carry that much weight unless you're talking about major differences? In this case you're not.
killbilly usmc Wrote:There was a realignment thread that had the numbers of enrollment from the khsaa by class the burg is 11th if I remember correctly. I couldn't even find the burg on the website you posted.

That is because we are so small. I couldn't find us either.
topnotch Wrote:That is because we are so small. I couldn't find us either.

If you go by last years numbers, Williamsburg has 125 males enrolled, which is the 15th least amount in KY schools that play football

In the numbers they used for the 2015-2018 realignment, Williamsburg is 8th, beechwood has the highest number of males enrolled, Pikeville is the 4th highest, and Mayfield(now in 2A) is #5 on the list in that class.

I'd post it but I don't know how to post PDF files on here?
I want to tell you Killbille and 55 you guys get on BGR and thump your chest, I am so sick of hearing how we play Marshmallow's and Mayfield is the most powerful team in the world. I really liked Mayfield and respected it's accomplishments in athletics But I am sick of Mayfield now, you guys talk so much about how good you are I almost think you are trying to convince each other, I want to tell you what I think of both of you and the Mayfield football team and the horse you rhode in on you are like A politician you are full of hot air you and you suck. I hope that you get A chance to play us in Bg if we are fortunate enough to get there I speak for my self, iif that be the case I want to tell you we could care less about your thropies and all your records Williamsburg will kick your hind end and make you like it. Bring them on. You don't scare us one bit.
I looked it up. Williamsburg Independent school district total school enrollment K through 12 is 777 seven hundred seventy seven.
Mayfield has A total school enrollment of 2,626 Are you going to tell me that having that many more children to pick from doesn't give you an advantage, You got to be kidding. You missed the point the KHSAA says it takes this number to play in the class A league. You exceeded that number last year, Mayfield was in fact was a 2A school You have been put in class 2 A now, but you will still be playing in A 1A league. I hope you are proud of your trophy.
That sorry good for nothing unregulated KHSAA Will lag and allow for 2 or 3 years A team who exceeds the numbers that determine their class to continue to play in that class, but if there was A child who has A question concerning their elgibility they will get right on it.
I think that it would only be fair for the KHSAA to put an astric on the Mayfield state championship throphy stating that they are a class 2A playing for a 1A championship.
Topnotch is on a roll. :Cheerlead
First off, no one has been thumping our chest. This was a discussion about how well our defense has done. Secondly, it's ridiculous that this is coming from a fan base that last year had a thread on just about every player, including one on how their back had squated 2 tons. Next, when you start talking crap to someone your grammar and the delivery are always going to be subject to retaliation. Don't tell me about rough times, I could tell you stories that would make you realize just how good you had it. Next, why cry about our size? We have pointed this out many times. It is the system that is in place. In 93 we won a state championship in 2a with 1a numbers. In 09 we lost a 1a state championship to a team with 2a numbers. As far as volunteering to play up, they will not allow it. The bottom 32 teams go in 1a and have to remain there. That is another rule. I think the disadvantage you speak of is next to Neal. That should be evident when our 1a team with 2a numbers can play a top 10 6a team to a 1 point game. When they can play a top 12 5a team and shut them out. When we can play a top 10 3a team and beat them. When we play a top 5 2a team and beat them. All of these teams have more numbers than us. If we got beat, we certainly would not have come on here and cried about how they were bigger. We would have come in and told everyone how good they were. Now, be careful what you ask for. You may just get it.
Countries is heading in the right directions...Keep Coal Alive. :Cheerlead

Unfortunately, you are missing the point and are going way off base to try and prove a point that is unprovable. The KHSAA has never nor will they ever count enrollment from kindergarten on up to classify teams in classes, and neither will any other state. Why? Its really simple actually, kindergartens do not play high school football. Neither do the other grades on up to the high school level. That is why the numbers I posted above, that is the actual data that the khsaa goes by, is based off of the number of males each school has to chose from for high school football. Those numbers are not that far off. It's definitely not an excuse for them and why they are winning. They have a championship atmosphere there and they have been winning against different classes since the school started. If you knew how the khsaa works you would know how impossible and improbable it would be to change classes every year? That is why the system is set up like it is and it is actually a very good fair system.

Williamsburg beat Newport and they have twice as many kids as Mayfield. Shouldn't you have lost to them?
I know for a fact that I'm just kidding with Mayfield boys....Confusedhh:
topnotch Wrote:What you said, if I have it right, was A whole bunch of nothing. 55 you sounded just exatly like A modern day politican. Just answer my question does A school with A enrollment much larger than another school have an athletic advantage. YES OR NO

Actually, Allen Central has 2a numbers, as well. Wonder why they aren't dominating 1a? Or even talked about for that matter?

Like 55 said, Mayfield didn't make the rules, the KHSAA did and in the last realignment, you weren't able to move up and even if you were, Mayfield wouldn't have been allowed due to the lack of other 1a teams in west Ky. so, you should probably go toot some other horn..
