Class 5A, district 7 & 8
#1
Last nights results pretty much cleared up the playoff picture for these two districts. PC and Southwestern will play for the 1-2 next week in district 7, the same between Letcher and Whitley in district 8. Harlan Co. and Perry Central will play next week to determine the 3-4 in district 8. North Laurel is locked in as the three seed from district 7, with Madison Southern and Lincoln playing next week for the final spot.
PC and Southwestern should definitely win their openers. I guess the only question marks will be can North win on the road at Letcher/Whitley, and will Harris be back for Southern. If so, district 7 has a real shot at a first round sweep.

I think Letcher has the best chance out of that district to win a playoff game. But if Mad. Southern gets in and Harris is back it's a District 7 sweep. South Western wins region without getting seriously challenged, this team is for real. They will put a running clock on anyone in District 8.

It won't be a cake walk for the 7 3 seed and 4 seed. Anytime you head east, as in Letcher County, it gets very difficult to win. Whitley County is a horrible match up for any of the teams they could play. If I am North, I will be pulling hard for Whitley County to win in order to avoid their passing game. Wouldn't be thrilled with going to Letcher, but seems to be a better match up on paper. As for Southern, they'll be lucky to beat Lincoln without Harris. If they do finish in the 4, they'll give the 1 seed fits if Harris plays.

So the winner of LCC/Whitley would play the winner of Mad So./Lincoln Co and the loser would play North Laurel? What is the update as for as Harris's return?
#5
Thought this would generate more comments than it has. Let's get it back to the top and see.

There are so many ways it could shake out as neither district has a single team locked in or is a heavy favorite in there next game.

Ill take a guess and say...

(4) Perry Central @ (1) Pulaski County
(3) North Laurel @ (2) Letcher Central

(4) Madison Southern @ (1) Whitley County
(3) Harlan County @ (2) Southwestern

How many times has a sweep happened in any district?

Not sure if Madison Southern is going to win against Lincoln?

Yea, that's very possible. If Harris plays, they will win.
Does he set out since MS season is done anyway, or does he play and get at least one more win?

If he doesn't play, it could be a very close game.

Pulaski wins region . Sweep in first round

Do not play if not 100%. I know this is a tough decision, but, his future is still bright.

If I were him, I wouldn't play again at MS.
They have no shot at winning region even with him.

Time to start focusing on UK hopefully.

I think you had Southern winning the region in the preseason.

I thought you had Harlan County winning more than one game.

And I had PC winning Region with Madison Southern being right there. I was wrong.

I had Harlan County winning the district, but I make mistakes every year.
You have it right every season.

Im going to say Bowling Green out of the west. Maybe JH can give them run.

As for the east, im going to say PC doesn't make it out of region. Im going to go with Madison Southern to win that district and region by defeating PC twice this year.
I expect them to face anyone from Cooper, Conner, South Oldham, Anderson, Franklin, etc. The last year of that 5A region 3 will be a doozy like it always is. - See more at: http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...6eLCW.dpuf

Or "The Ohio State Buckeyes."

Actually North is locked in as the three, because even if they are upset by South, they hold the tiebreaker over whoever wins the Lincoln/MS game, beat both head-to-head. But that is the only one, the others will all be decided on the field Friday.
And I think your matchups are dead on, I think Whitley is a little more legit than Letcher, and on the other side I think the SW folks are in for a little surprise from ol' PC. Unlike Southern, they are much more than a one-man show, and I think they'll get it done Friday night.

I'll take a stab at it, just getting back in to football in the area after
being absent around the area for 2 yrs. trying to play catch up in
the newspapers, radio and on here:

(4) Perry Central @ (1) Pulaski County
(3) North Laurel @ (2) Letcher Central

(4) Madison Southern @ (1) Whitley County
(3) Harlan County @ (2) Southwestern

Love to see Whitley as the one seed.

7 might have a shot at sweeping 8 but dont be expecting running clocks.
