Tennessee football must be down this year. Imagine what Pikeville would have done to this team.

BELFRY
Corbett 15 carries, 124 yards, 1/2 33 yds
Taylor 14 carries, 116 yds, TD
Hatfield Around 50 yds and 2 TD
347 rush yards, 380 total yards
CAK
Smith 28/43, 304 yds
Team: 2 total rushing yards
306 Total Yards

This was a big win against a good program and I'm not 100% convinced Pikeville would have beat this team like belfry did?

Ray Horton with another quality game. The style of CAK was not conducive for a big power DT like Horton, but when they needed it he was there making big plays including the TFL to seal the game.
Corbett played well save one forced pass that was intercepted
CAK collapsed hard on Hatfield.. Belfry played 3 Quarters without Willis and top backup Edwards at HB. Need them back next week against LC.

Pikeville destroyed Belfry. Absolutely they would beat this team.

Belfry rose to the occasion in big moments. Have to get healthy and set in roles and watch out.

Belfry did not get destroyed by pikeville and regardless that game doesn't play into whether they'd beat CAK? The matchup is completely different.

Excited for Corbett. He has def taken over at the QB spot and seems to be doing really really well. Defense stepped up big after the first drive by CAK. Belfrys lone drive in the 2nd quarter was a masterpiece by HAYWOOD. 21 plays 86 yards 9:24 off the clock!! Brilliant play calling. Penalties helped to take more time off but still. Pass defense was tested and exposed. Allowed over 300 yards but they didn't break and stood their ground. Way to go pirates. On to LAWRENCE CO.

Losing to Pikeville is like Highlands losing to NCC. It wouldn't and shouldn't happen.

This was an impressive and quality win. If Taylor and Willis can get and stay 100% healthy, Belfry is dangerous on the edge.

Congrats to the Pirates on well played game. That's the team we watched at the first of the season.

Don't make any of this about Pikeville. This is all about what BELFRY did tonight. Very solid win for BHS.

A little perspective:
CAK's two losses prior to Belfry were to Knoxville Catholic and Webb.
Both teams are ranked #1 in their respective classes.

Hope this series continues. Haywood addressed it in the pregame interview and said he wanted to make it happen but it didn't sound likely. Facing a team like CAK and their well designed passing game is great prep for a playoff run.

Christain Academy Had A real good football team, Good job Belfry.

Just wanted to bring this one back up quickly.
CAK's Tight End Austin Pope recently committed to Tennessee and is one of the Top 50 TE's in the country.
He had other offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Miss State, Missouri, and Nebraska among several others.
Congrats to him and a nice feather in the cap of the Belfry guys who held him in check for most of the night. Wish him the very best in college!
