Did anyone else catch the hot mic incident on Sports OT on Friday evening? During a commercial break, when the glorious crew of Josh McKinney and Jamie McCracken thought their mics were still off the air, they decided to direct harsh criticism towards one mountain team in particular. Their voices can clearly be heard during the moment the leader for the segment known as "Mountain Fans in the Stands" drops on the screen following a Highlands Therapy commercial. These appalling remarks spread like wildfire on Saturday, after the players and staff were made aware and heard the comments from the duo, it has now been placed in the hands of some of the school's administration.
I thought Sports OT was supposed to be non bias, supporting all local teams and players but after this cheap shot you have to wonder what they have said about other teams on the set. The school should refuse to allow either one of these individuals from ever stepping foot on campus until they show up to do an in person apology to the school, players and coaches as well as a public on air apology after replaying their statement. To openly degrade one group of young men, between the ages of 14-18, what does it say about their true character? If WYMT still allows these two guys to be the face of the once great Sports Overtime, they deserve to remain the joke the show has become. Congratulations Josh and Jamie, expect a phone call to your station tomorrow.

Obviously it wasn't directed at a school in your community. Let's see what route they go with this today.

Inquiring minds want to know. Who was the alleged hit mic comment directed at, and what was said? For those of us who had to work and couldn't catch this alleged bombshell.

If the cowards don't repeat what they said tonight on the air and rescind their statement, then I'll let you know. It must make them feel real big about belittling not just this team, but kids in general.

I would love to know what was said. Could someone PM me. Sports OT is something I used to watch all the time now I barely even watch it. It has really went down hill.

Get it out in the open! What better way to put the heat of WYMT than get this community involved?
10-06-2014, 05:00 PM
Lets see. People get on here and bash kids, coaches, and even put out what coaches have on email.
BUT ARE AFRAID TO PUT WHAT WYMT SAID.

Maybe my investigative skills are lacking but I can't find anything spreading like wildfire. I am very interested in what was said because SportsOT has been going downhill for years.
A weekly webcast would destroy WYMT's SportsOT, the only thing they have going for them is the highlight footage, which these days are terribly incomplete.
10-06-2014, 05:10 PM
Hearing all of this makes me feel lucky to have Gridiron Glory over here. We all rush out of our Fri night games to try to get home in time to watch it. Other than one sportscaster that still thinks PT has a better football program than Mayfield, we ave no real problems.
10-06-2014, 05:13 PM
Sports OT used to be a decent length, covered the big games well and showed appropriate highlights. Now they'll show 1 or two plays from the first half and cut to a score. They rush to get the tapes back to the studio in time for chopping and editing.
In this day and age there is no reason they can't do live editing and uploading from the stadium if they have the right equipment.

It is within the school's players, fanbase and administration. Let's put it this way, the team referenced, what was said about them would be equivalent to WYMT saying, "Belfry is winning games but, eh, they still aren't any count and they can't beat Louisville Central."
10-06-2014, 05:49 PM
Are you using "Belfry" as an example because of AtlPiratFan's connection? Because I do know that some of Belfry's fans believe they are being slighted in WYMT's opinions and coverage.
10-06-2014, 05:51 PM
Yes Granny he's just using it as an example.
I have strong feeling I know who the team in question is.

Yes, just as an example. It was not referenced towards Belfry but another school. What was said is pretty much what I typed out as the example, but a local school was the one backhanded and the chicken winner was another dominant team in that school's particular classification.
