Whos some mtn teams that you actually think have a shot at getting to bg?
I like
Pulaski Co
Johnson Central
Belfry
Pikeville
Prestonsburg
Corbin
Middlesboro
I think these are the only teams who have a real shot in their classes...

Belfry and perhaps Pikeville.
09-29-2014, 04:30 PM
for sure... But you gotta think who really is going to challenge Pburg or Mboro in 2a on the way to bg besides maybe danville or LCA

Overall I think eastern KY has four solid teams that could all end up in bowling green; Pikeville and Belfry obviously, Johnson Central and Prestonsburg. Prestonsburg was a touchdown away from the final four last year and from what I hear they are much better. Never know, they may all win too?

4A Johnson Central
3A corbin ( westside )
3A belfry ( Eastside )
2A prestonsburg

If Johnson Central gets there, they will have earned it. The East of 4A if brutal this season and I believe JC has the hardest route to get there. :Thumbs:

Pikeville/Wburg is the heavy favorite in 1A to reach Bowling Green from their side of the bracket (85% chance either advances)
Pulaski County is the heavy favorite in 5A to reach Bowling Green out of the Eastern Semi-State (85% chance they advance)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Belfry is the favorite in 3A to reach Bowling Green from their side of the bracket. Bourbon County though isn't far off. (65% chance they advance)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Pburg/Middlesboro I say are either 50/50 or a slight favorite to reach Bowling Green from the Eastern Side in 2A. NewCath and Danville will be their primary competition. (50% Chance either advances)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Corbin and Bell County in 3A are substantial underdogs to advance from the Western Semi-State. They are probably 3rd in the pecking order. South Warren and Central are ahead. (30% Chance either advances)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Johnson Central in 4A is a heavy underdog to advance form the Eastern Semi-State. They are probably 4th in the pecking order. Highlands is the clear #1, with Boyle County and Covington Catholic getting the nod ahead of them as well. (15% chance they advance)

I think all the teams I mentioned have a legitimate shot but if I have to pick for sure
3A Corbin vs 3A Belfry I think has a good shot
2A Prestonsburg or Middlesboro I'm gonna go Middlesboro bc I'm fan obviously
1A Pikeville or Williamsburg I honestly think Pikeville is 2tds better the Wburg..
So I will go Corbin Belfry Pikeville and Middlesboro

This would be awesome!!! Great mountain representation. AND, I don't think it's far fetched to have Johnson Central there!

Two teams with a 85% chance in 1A? That's some Yogi Bera math. Haha. Just kidding I know what you meant.

If Johnson Central is there they would have to probably defeat Cov Cath, Highlands and then probably either Boyle or Lex Cath.
Yes, I think it's a very small chance they make it to BG.
If they do, it will be because they are the best. :Thumbs:

I think in 3A the west side of the bracket will come down to 4 teams, 3 of the teams in one region: Bell County, Central, Corbin. The other team is South Warren. This will be one good playoff year in 3A lots of good teams.

I think Corbin is about 2 tds better maybe even 3 we scrimmaged corbin and even though it was a scrimmage they looked way better then bell did...

That Corbin vs. Bell game is going to be huge.
Homefield Advantage is at a premium this year since the winner of that game hosts until the Finals. You lose and you have to go to Central in Round 2 then back to the home field of a team who has already beat you.

Corbin and Bell aren't really impressing me though.
I think South Warren is the best team out there right now..Central 2nd.. then Corbin and Bell.

1a Williamsburg or pikeville
2a prestonsburg
3a Belfry(Corbin or Bell can't contend with the west)
4a no one Johnson Central is a good team that can beat most of the teams in 4a but they can't beat the 4 powers in their region. ( highlands, Cov Cath, Lex Cath, and Boyle) no disrespect intended to Johnson County fans either,
5a Pulaski County
6a no one.

Im not sure I understand the question.
First of all, in 1A, Wburg or Pikeville will definitely be in the stat title game with Hazard close behind. So, yes 1A will definitely have a mountain team.
Second, 2A may or may not. Depends on how well teams like Mboro do against teams like Danville. Pburg also has a fighters chance.
3A will also definitely have a mountain team. Theres not a non-mountain 3A teams that's even going to come close to getting to Bowling Green.
4A is Highlands
In 5A, Pulaski will be in BG. Mark it down. BG and Pulaski play in week 10, and they will have a rematch in the state title game.
So, as for the question, it would be hard for mountain teams not to make it out of the east with the 6 class system. Starting next year, classes 1A thru 4A on the East side will pretty much all be mountain school.

you are right
10-01-2014, 03:29 PM
I think prestonsburg has a little more than a "fighter's chance?"
10-01-2014, 03:37 PM
Pikeville and Williamsburg are 1 and 1A on the East side in 1A. Hazard also has a fighting chance. Prestonsburg in 2A with Middlesboro having an outside shot. In 3A both representatives could be from the East. Belfry is the clear favorite. Corbin and Bell both have a shot with Central standing in their way. JC would but for Highlands standing in the way. It will be a monumental upset if Pulaski is not there in 5A.
