Top Ten 1a games of week ending 9-20-14

jetpilot Wrote:So you're looking for a close game. Not a good way to judge how big the game is IMO. As good as Mayfield has been, how many times would they have beaten Belfry in the last 10 years? This game is much bigger than Beechwood and Franklin Co. ever was and ever will be.:truestory:

I wish Mayfield would play Belfry.it would probably be a battle of arrogance.Confusednicker:

Or Fairview/Hazard or Mayfield/Graves Co. Again, love your work in this thread.

Just be glad Williamsburg doesn't play Belfry or you would have to change your name to EVERYONEINJURED4SUR:Shaking:

I don't know, they may have a shot this year 64. I just think the game is losing some luster since its been so long since the Panthers won. It is getting that way here. Graves has not beaten Mayfield since 2008. They have to this year because they have nothing for the next 4-5 years.

Again, I don't look for Williamsburg to get past Hazard and even if they do I won't mind seeing them in Pikeville.

Again, Pikeville vs. Belfry is huge. And no one answered how many wins Mayfield would have against Belfry in the last 10 years. I will answer it for you. A coin toss between 1 and zero. Still a HUGE game.

Better not count last year Jetpilot.....Just saying Mayfield look pretty dam good in bad weather. :worthy:

It is insane to get on this thread and say how many games either would have won against each other. The games never happened so there is no basis for the argument. Opinions do not matter. The thing is we feel pretty darn good about what we have achieved over the past 5 years and I'm sure Belfry does as well.

Bad weather or good 64, the results would be the same.

in that case your opinion of the top ten 1 A games doesn't matter.:closeenough:

Okay, then why are you here? I wrote the da** thing, if you don't like it, just go away. Like we all would like for you abd your wealth of football knowledge to do.

I think the part that you are missing is the stuff that I post is based upon facts and stats, not just opinions. Your stuff on the other hand is entirely based upon your dislike for my stating the obvious.

fact is your opinion and bias isn't fact.fact is Pikeville vs. Belfry is the top 1A game of the week.your fact differs from other people's facts.
#51
Fact is Belfry has won every matchup since 2000. Dulls the luster. Fact is, we have #1 in 3a versus #5 in 1a. That kind of facts tends to place it where it is. Fact is there is about a 20-30 point difference in their Lit ratings. I hope you are correct, I really do. The stats and facts tend to say your OPINION is not correct though.

Tell that to Belfry fans. It should be obvious to you how fired up they are. Belfry/Pikeville is the biggest 1A game in the state no matter who wins. 90% of the people will tell you this.
#53
No they wouldn't. Maybe 90% o those 1a fans from that area. Hazard and Fairview fans would say theirs should be. Mayfield's and others around this area would say the Battle of the Birds is. Beechwood and Frankfort fans would say the Franklin Co/Beechwood game is. I don't understand the arguing over where they are ranked. We have several really good games. The truth is that I could have put the top 5 in a bag and drew for order that they should be listed. I could understand being upset if I put something in the descriptors that was not correct. If Pikeville plays up to their full potential in this game, they have a chnce to make it one of the top 1a games of the year.

Looks to me like that's what you did.
LOL...you still don't get it. Let me use simple numbers since you can't process a huge rivalry. #1 vs. #5 > #1 vs. #14.

#55
You just don't understand the rivalry here. This one here is also very huge. There will be between 7,000 to 8,500 fans at this one. We have had aerial photos taken many times in the past and you just can't imagine how big the crowd is. Every seat will be full at GCHS and their will be people standing 4 deep all the way around the track. This is a cross town rivalry in which the kids from both teams have known each other since they were in day care. Thei are coaches at Graves that went to school at Mayfield and some that coached at Mayfield. Their is 1 ex Graves coach at Mayfield. So, yes it is a big rivalry. Also, how many 1a teams could step up against a top #14 5a team. To your point though, how many 1a teams could step up against a #1 3a team. Like I said, it's a toss up. Maybe being a little bit of a homer in that one but, that's how I saw it.

I literally LOL'd at this one.

The math used out west is if mayfield qb #2 throws ball to wr#4 who is faster than all of the burgs db, then 2 plus 4 equals 6, with a strong possibility for a 7th point.
