Williamsburg 52 Wayne Co 21
#31
Hats off to Williamsburg, the transition of Griffith to quarterback and addition of Massey makes this a well oiled machine. I didn't think a running clock would happen, but it did and Yellow Jackets are for real. Wayne County has better days ahead, but they were no match last night. Good Luck to Williamsburg the rest of the way and hoping Wayne can get healthy before district play. Health didn't matter in this one, but it can the rest of the way.
For the record Massey is a man, huge difference maker on both sides of the ball.

Lowery had a big game catching the ball. His replacing Skylar as the other receiver has been very important to Williamsburg's success.

^I agree... IMO, Lowrie is the most underrated offensive player on Williamsburg's team... On the offensive side we hear a ton about Griffith, Massey, and Shelton, but Lowrie has his place on the list as well. He's a fantastic athlete and from what I hear a great student. I predict that he'll end up the team's leading receiver (If he's not already) since the focus has moved to Shelton. With him at X and Shelton at Z there's always going to be a mismatch on either side of the field. Keep up the good work Jackets!

Congrats Burg. You all seem to have it rolling again.

Congrats on the win Jackets.

Big game from Lowrie, Massey, Shelton, and Griffith...My best guess is Skylar ran for 150 yd and threw for 350, this kid is amazing...The Wayne Co QB is going to be a good one, Wayne is just a little young this year...

Williamsburg looked like a 5th grade team in the finals last year, and got thrashed a couple of other times. Far from a great team. And they lost a great player from that team that nobody seems to even remember.[/QUOT

Williamsburg lost a great player in Sizemore, but returned nearly everyone else, plus added Massey, which gives them a new weapon they didn't have last year.

Just being a football fan, I am looking forward to November and the Pikeville/Williamsburg matchup that looks inevitable at this point in the season.

Raceland and Hazard may have something to say about that.

The QB makes them better than they were last year. He can scoot and sit back and throw it.

Cards were there early in the 2nd and then Massey took the kickoff to the house and it seemed like Williamsburg hit the afterburners.
Cardinal growing pains continue but tough games against good competition will make us better come playoff time.

The only thing that derails that train is injuries. Way too many weapons.

I have respect for coach Shawn Thompson and the Wayne County Cardinals team but people that haven't watched Williamsburg play have no idea how good and how much improved they are..they think fans are just pumping them up. :biglmao:

Old_Jacket Wrote:You're right Jet, Pikeville will beat Williamsburg because they've beat Hazard and Prestonburg... Lol, who on this thread cares? Williamsburg returned everyone, so take last years team and make them bigger, faster, and stronger and that equals this team. Now I realize Pikeville returned a lot as well, but did Pikeville even get a chance to play Williamsburg last year? Oh wait... That's right they we're beat by Raceland who Williamsburg beat by 4 TDs. Pikeville is a fine football team and hopefully we'll be facing them or Hazard for a region title. Grow a set and have some class...

:thatsfunn Oh the irony...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too, if they make it that far. Hazard and Raceland may have something to say in that. But if the burg happens to make it to Hambley complex, they will walk in , but limp out with their tails er I mean wings tucked between their legs.
