Analysis of the 15th
#1
Give me what you think about the top 3 teams in the region...

-Give good reasoning and back up those reasons
-Keys players and their best attributes(strength and weaknesses)
and any other info you want to throw in there
#2
I don't even know who to list as the top 3 teams so I will get back to you on this one.
#3
1 Team I would probably say is:

Paintsville-
Landon Slone and VanHoose are outstanding young players, both great on Offense end, but Paintsville lacks in the Defense area

East Ridge-
They have there up's and downs, but with the leadership from Tyler McCoy and Kyle Fletcher. There defense is ok, offense has its spurts.

Pike Central-
Almost like East Ridge, they have bad games, and good games. Brad Lowe is one of the better players in the mountains, I think PC would be a good asset to the 15th.

Pike Central-Brad Lowe/enough said!!!
Paintsville-Very talented at the guard position but lack post play.
The rest of the Region could fall in the third spot.
#5
even though east ridge stomped belfry the 2nd time around (still amazing to this day), i can't see how you could list east ridge and not lawerence co. for that matter.. let alone not listing belfry.. nice...
#6
Belfry- Still are the best team in the Region even after the loss to Pike Central, shouldn't have happened, but kinda expected when your best player (Matt Maynard) is sitting for most of the second half...

Pike Central- A very good team who has the 2nd best player in the Region(Brad Lowe) and a couple others (Ratliff and Hess) who are contributing each and every night...

Johnson Central - A lot of talent and a big threat come tournament time...

Who is better than Lowe???
#8
Maynard is an all around better player than Lowe, the only thing Lowe is better at is shooting three's...
#9
It is wide open, no one team stands out as the favorite
#10
#1 Pike Central, good team with some quality wins under there belt. Brad lowe is the best scorer in the region.#2 Paintsville, great team with a ton of talent. Also one of the greatest coaches in the mountains and he will have them ready for the regional tourny.
#3 South Floyd, could be great played an above average schedule some good wins and some bad loses but during tourny time i think this team might have what it takes.

Cinderella- Shelby Valley, they have some nice players and have played a tough schedule with some close loses but this team has got some players who can be dangerous. Also got experiance playing in rupp and knows what it takes to get back..

Nice list mojo40.
#12
i really dont think that the 15th region is worth "much" and wont do anything when they get to rupp, no matter who they play
#13
Jackson5, althought your words are quite frank and vulgar, I agree. The region just isn't putting out the type of game that will be able to compete at State. Whatever team goes might be humbled by the experience. It's an excellent time to learn.

Question...What is the status of Maynard on the Belfry roster???
#15
maynard and lowe are pretty evenly matched IMO.. lowe's got the 3's, maynard's got the drive.. lowe's got the height, maynard's got the speed.. lowe's got the rebounding, maynard's got the slam.. they are both good defensive players and can light it up on offense as well.

Shelby Valley has the weakest schedule in their school history. You need to rethink your post. Valley is usually playing tough Lexington competiton or thier at least in the WYMT tourney. They used to be in the Toyota Classic and other competitive tourneys. But not this year!!

Maynard has apologized and is back practicing, him an Case will be out of action tonight against Allen central...

You are right and this is almost the weakest team in school history to and i still think that they might suprize a team or two in the tourny.

they played pike central, paintville, hazard, east ridge 3 times i think and they still have to play south floyd all a champ and leslie wymt champs. that is still a pretty good schedule expecially down the stretch which might just make them a better team come tourny time. that is what i based my picks on..

If you rank the top three teams it should include in some order these three:

1. Pike Central: The most consitent team in the region all year long. They have their Stud Lowe who is capable of dominating a game in this regiona any time he steps on the floor. Good supporting cast makes PCC a favorite heading into the post season run.
PCC is a team that relies mainly on one scoring threat and then a group of players to contribute evenly. If Lowe was to get in foul trouble or be boggled down PCC and David Rowe might be watching the rest of the tournament.

2. Belfry: The Pirates have the best athlete in the region in Matt Maynard and one of the streakiest shooters in the region in Case. Their guard play is enough to topple anyone in the 15th on any given night. If they can keep their heads they will be a tough task for anyone to overcome when the smoke clears.
The Pirates biggest weakness is their lack of an inside game and themselves. They depend heavily on their guards to produce points and if they struggle or get in foul trouble they could be posied to fall. They also have some internal problems, but that could be straightened out when it comes down to tournament time.

3. Paintsville: Yes thats right the Tigers that everyone expected to see all pre-season have finally showed up. Potentially the best team in the region. Slone is the real deal and possibly the best all around player in the region. Vanhoose, Pugh, Bundy, and whoever that coach is over there now (LOL) make Paintsville a serious contender to come away with the nets when it is all over.
The Tigers biggest set back is a lack of size. They depend on their athletes to rebound and a team that can control the glass can cuase them problems. They also play in the most balanced district in the region and will have to fight to make it out alive.

There are alot of other teams on the outside looking in that could topple any of these teams on any night. South Floyd, Johnson Central, Prestonsburg, Sheldon Clark, Lawrence County, Shelby Valley, and possibly even East Ridge could pose threats when it all is settled. Betsy Lane has been playing better as has Allan Central. Pikeville has put together some wins as well. So it is all up for grabs but these 3 teams have seperated from the rest of the pack as of now in my eyes, but the regional tournamnet is not being held today now is it.........
