Just wanted to know who has some good kids coming back this year in District #7, 11 and 12 yr olds, and may make a run at the State.
I know the State is being held in Paintsville this year so District #7 will get to send 2 teams to the state!
I know Paintsville is always tough and Belphry, HAP and Morgan should be pretty strong also. Just wanted to hear some thoughts!

What league's are returning? I've been hearing alot of sign ups advertised for Cal Ripkin Leagues on the radio.

I am not sure, but I believe Paintsville, Morgan, and Belfry are always right in the thick of things.
The Cal What?
There should certainly be a pitch count in LL Baseball. There are several kids I know walking around wishing they had had a pitch count in LL, so their arms weren't a mess now!

Paintsville Little League will be down this year due to the new Cal Ripken League starting in Johnson County. The following players are returning Paintsville Little League All-Stars that, according to what I hear will be crossing over to Cal Ripken: B.J. Hamilton, Nick McKenzie, Jimmy Preston, Jordan Young, Quade Ward, Ross Sanor, Timmy Miller, Tanner Blevins, Alex Tibbs, Chase Blevins, Kasi Watson, Garrett Lemaster and Chaynse Hill and many other good players that did not make all-stars. Also, the following managers or coaches from last season will be associated with Cal Ripken and not Paintsville Little League: Ben Hamilton (Coach for Diamondbacks and Manager of 11 year old all-stars), Darrick Preston (Coach for Dodgers and Coach for 9-10 year old all-stars), Randy Blevins (Coach for Mariners and Coach for 9-10 year old all-stars), Harry Meek (Manager for Orioles and Manager of 11-12 year old all-stars will move up to next level), Gary Hill (Coach for Rangers), Bob Gourdouze (Manager of Mariners will move up to next level) and Willard Burton (Coach for 11 year old all-stars).

No dog in the fight, but I still believe that the cream of the crop will still be in Little League. just a personal observation. Would be nice to have all these kids in one league though.

WOW! So you are telling me that Paintsville would have had 13, 11 & 12 yr old allstars returning this season? Funny, there are only 12 on a team. The post was:

This is not a post about Cal Ripken or Little League like what was on the other site.
I am sure that Paintsville will be right there in the thick of it no matter who is there. Paintsville Little League is always a class act and everyone knows that they field a very competetive team year in and year out. The same as Belfry, HAP and Morgan. I have spoken with many of the coaches and representatives of the league and they feel that they will be fine. They have been around now for 53 years and placed a team in a State Tourney for, I think 18 consecutive years, WOW! You guys do an AWSOME job so keep up the good work and we we see you right there when you make a run for a State spot this season. Good Luck to all the boys and girls in Dist. #7!
Just waiting to hear those words "PLAY BALL"!
So who else thinks that they may have a shot a going to state this year? I know Belfry is hoping to make a run at it.

Don't count out Phelps. They were a good team last year and return alot.

I've seen many little league games in my years of loving baseball, and never ever rule out Paintsville (in any age division, regardless of any other league trying to form), as for the others, Belfry always have tremendous teams in their age bracketts, Morgan is another LL program that has tremendous talent, HAP had good teams last year too.
Gosh I'm ready for some baseball!!!!!!

I think Paintsville had an 11 year old team and an 11-12 year old team so that makes up 24! I think you can get 13 out of 24 can't you? Just trying to give you some adding tips. :thumb:

Nope. Seven of the kids listed were 9 & 10 yr old Allstars last year. Nobody knows who will make the allstars untill towards the end of the season and after the votes are counted. Don't get me wrong. Some of those kids are still pretty good ball players. But, it doesn't matter. Paintsville will still field a very competative team next season no matter who is there.
Other teams to watch should be Belfry, Morgan, HAP and Phelps. But, you never know who may show up tough and ready to play ball. Can't wait till then. Good Luck to all.

Anyone know if there's gonna be a 15/16 Sr. League Paintsville team to aspire to a Back-2-Back season? I've heard there's maybe gonna be something else, if anyone knows, pm me!

Let's get back to little league...if you want to talk about older divisions, start a new thread.
02-17-2006, 04:59 PM
LL encompasses ages 5-18. Which divisions are you talking about? Someone did, however, go ahead and begin a new thread about Junior League and Senior League. How bout we not discuss any other leagues besides LL in this thread?
02-18-2006, 03:45 AM
Anybody want to pick up some games with a 9 and under team this spring. We can arrange some games. Give me a yell and lets work some things out. This is just kids from our school district and not from anywhere else.

Good post Fuzzy5118. Most people only look at Little League as the 11-12 year olds. They don't realize how broad LL actually is. It includes T-ball, Minors, Majors, Senior League, Big League and Junior League. I've probably left someone out as well.

Paintsville should go every year since they have 200-300 kids to choose from EVERY YEAR. When most other teams in District 7 only has like 3-4 teams in there leagues.

 Finally....BASEBALL is here !!!!!! In our household we live & breathe it !!! Looking forward to this season. Hoping each league will be strong. A baseball team is made up of 12 players. Normally , not all being All-Stars. The players that are leaving the PLL, are very strong players & I am sure they will be missed. Life goes on. I think the division among the 11/12 yr old teams, will hurt both leagues, PLL & Ripken. Yes, if this change had not have happened this year, I am sure our 11/12 yr olds would have dominated in District & State. I hope they still do, in both leagues. So ...whatever league my "Player" is in, I will fully support it and still cheer for the players that we are leaving behind in the other league and wish them the best of luck. These players have grown up together, playing the game of baseball. Just because some play here & some play there, this is no reason why their friendships should have to change. There are too many great memories for them to EVER forget playing together in the PLL. See ya at the games !!!

Paintsville Little League has fewer than you think to choose from.
They have 6-8 teams with 12 players on a team, of those twelve only about6-8 are 11 or 12 years old. so that is what???? 70-90 eligible players to field 24 roster spots.

Big surprise that everybody picks paintsville to win it, considering that every year the tournament is held in paintsville. Its no wonder they win all the time. No, Im not being childish either, but anyone with any brains knows what i mean. I have been to the last few tournaments that paintsville has hosted and almost every umpire is from paintsville. Seems a little suspicious to me, but maybe im the only one.
02-20-2006, 02:38 PM
Nope. just seems that you don't know any of the umpires. There are umpires there from almost all the areas. And if you watched any of the games you would see that they are some pretty good umpires .

Belfry has it in football, Perry Central has it in basketball, just to name a few, it is a part of sport and nothing can be done about it, and nothing should in many cases because it is what it is, and it is a part of sport.. Why do they not alternate the site for the little league tourny?

Perhaps that's why Paintsville hosts it year after year. And why is it when a league continually wins, people thinks it's because they cheat or something else....now that is chidish...From what I've seen, PLL has proven year after year that they can field the players to get it done.....when you have a have district and state champs year after year that surely says something about the players and coaches....not the umpires who threw the game for them!!:Nodding:

From what I've seen over the years only 2 or 3 umpires are from Paintsville. And I don't think any of them favor Paintsville in any way.
