Game called with 6:00 min to go in 3rd quarter. Leslie's defense was dominate only giving up 48 total yards of offense.
Harlan stacked the box and QB Kevin Whitaker took advantage throwing 3 passing TD's and Rushing for another.

This team continues to improve it could be a fun year in Hyden..


Also would like to acknowledge all the fans that were in the stands from our own county cheering for Harlan Ind. Good to see you go home with your tail tucked between your legs.

Posted this in the update thread but it needs repeating

Harlan got lucky with the rain or I have a feeling it was going to get a lot worse. Leslie coaches and players seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. With the principal there now and how he has acted since he left the Leslie school system I can't say that I blame them. Player poaching, trash talk, disrespect from the principal is uncalled for going all the way back to last year. Leslie needs to play with that fire all the time.

The fans in the Stands cheering from Harlan was parents I believe of their Kid which goes to Harlan. I pretty sure the Kid playing for Harlan is from Leslie

I gonna go ahead an speak my peace my son has played for three years at Harlan we r proud of our kids they played the refs an the players in that game. And yes Leslie did have a chip all because the Brock Kid decision to play for Harlan these are kids. as for the principal ur trash talking he played here in Harlan last he loves in Harlan.

You did not play the refs.. Usual parent talk. It would have gotten alot worse if the game hadnt ended when it did.
Harlan had 48 total yards.. Hard to blame that on the ref.. And as far as the kid playing for Harlan and the principal, you just don't know the situation. Whined about how he was done wrong in middle school and didn't get to play... Blah Blah Blah... Principal was the same way... Watched him play in middle school and he played the exact amount of time he deserved to. So the whole bunch ran their mouth the whole time...
Judging by his play Friday, I'd say the middle school coach was right on. Had to be taken out of the game...

Trucked by one of the running backs he supposedly got passed over for in the middle school. Got his helmet knocked off.. Got scorched for 2 TD passes... He had a rough night.

Dude I know what I'm talking your talking bout a Kid that is awesome player he was Smart at his choice. He got trucked by Noone he was taken out for his helmet and put straight back in that Kid will show u all as well as my son in the next few years. U need to get that chip off ur shoulder as far as middle school I have no clue about that but someone messed up he is a great player an asset to our team who had a awesome game at Williamsburg I be nervous to playing in a town that goes on a public Forum an trash talk a Kid. I have gotten to know this Kid he don't seen to be one to whine speaking my piece. The principal we love him someone messed that one up to. As a parent of a LC football player I find that this post is about a child who is just a freshman. I watched this kid play against my child in many sports he by far had the best attitude of any of kid playing when games ended he always had great sportsmanship
. One example he lost county championship against the team my son played on he was the only kid that shook players hands so don't bash him. Also , as I recall he played on several all stars team an started for them so he can't be a bad player. As I see rule the world ur in education occupation as ur profile says Maybe your boss will be interested in seeing u bashing a Kid. Don't blame the Kid for going to Harlan he is a great player that will go far so to the Brock keep playing hard I may be cheering for Leslie in Stands but anytime I see u playing I will cheer for u Also. Don't let these haters get you down I think this is personal an anyone who bashing a Kid needs to find another occupation beside education. Your profile tells who u are. I think someone has a issue with this Kid. He is one hell of a football player an I wish I had the means to send my son out of Leslie county.

Please don't lump all Leslie County people and fans into the category of student athlete bashers. I know the kid and his family as well and though I wish he had went to Leslie County, he didn't and his parents thought that was best for him. Lets move on. I think the distaste for the administrator at Harlan Ind. has fueled this fire so much that the young man was drug into it. I know several players are related to him and though they wanted to win, it had to be odd for both sides.

Lets be positive and talk about a great first game of the season for Coach Melton and the Eagles who looked much improved from last season on both sides of the ball. Keep it up next week against the Patriots.

Also as for the Harlan fan who posted they played the refs as well, come on man! The two pass interference calls that I am sure you are griping about both players face guarded and never made a play on the ball. Don't blame the refs or the players for that matter, those kids had no business being 1 on 1 with no safety help. And of all school fans to argue about officiating you clearly were not at the Harlan vs Leslie boys basketball game last season when the head Boys coach from Leslie and one of his assistants were both ejected from the game for just trying to speak to the official. That was a joke!

As a parent my children is still in grade school an I would hate to think that anyone especially a educator would trash talk a kid due to where he chooses to play. But I do agree with the person about the Kid that got dragged in the middlei. Sounds like to me he was wanted by both team except the one educator that bashed the kid if I was a parent an that was my child I would be going to their Board on this I Remember The World he seems to have a major issue with this kid. But all that matters is these kids an they love the game of football. And to JugHead u are right let that kid be and any parent that would drive from Leslie to Harlan everyday across that mountain had to being doing what that child wanted. I sure this Kid must be a really good athlete for this to even be talked about so let the one person bashing that kid u see to have a issue so get that chip off ur shoulder

No Dog in this fight, other than I grew up in Leslie County and Coached at Leslie County High School back in the day. Most people in Leslie County are nice and caring people. I must say this is no place to talk bad about a kid. My Mother always said if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at All. Good Luck to Harlan and Leslie County. Move on past this, both sets of people are bigger than this.

This is just a classic example of more veteran players facing younger inexperienced players at vital positions (exp.WR/DB). Its hard for young corners and safety's to not face-guard because that's all they've done the past 4-5 years of grade/middle school. Also I don't think playing with a chip on your shoulder is necessarily a bad thing. You play the game to win and show your county, teammates and yourself how hard you've worked and what you can accomplish. The guy/team that lines up across from you on the field is your enemy for 4 quarters and you should play with a chip on your shoulder. Just my opinion.
