Belfry 2014
Still haven't heard much from anyone about that 7 on 7 except that the Corbett kid is pretty fast.
^ I too would like to hear some info about all three teams that was at hazard.
Should be considered the favorite coming out of the East in 2014.
well finally just serveral hrs away from the start of making another run at back to back titles.......
Belfry should be the best of a weak 3a group in eky.
Hopefully someone will be able to let us know how the first practice went. Numbers, etc?

East will be down in 3A... but with the transfers at Bourbon County I have a feeling the top two teams in 3A may very well be teams form the East.

about 60 or 70...a lot of speed and size, meaning we got size with speed and speed with size...I was very happy and I am excited, this could be one of the best backfields we have had and one of the best OL's to go with it....but one thing is for sure we have depth everywhere...

I'm a realist and I don't think that Lawrence Co is good enough at this point in time to beat Belfry, but I think some people will be shocked at how much better and how much more speed this 2014 team will have.
I think we will give Belfry a better game this year then we have since we came out of 4a and started playing Belfry again. We have a lot of speed at the receiver positions and in the backfield. We have a lot of lineman back from last year and our numbers are better then the last couple of years.
This program is starting to show some signs of life.

How is the feeder down there?
Thanks for the report 91.

Double - hope Lawrence pushes through that glass ceiling this year. Good luck!

Who are the new additions to Lawrence?

Still think PC will be tough even with the new Head Coach...Top 10 talent there.

Belfry needs LC or PC to be tough. With Breathitt being down they need someone to push them at the Regional Final level and get them ready for the playoff push.
Any news from Belfry? How are Joplin, Jordan Scott and Corbett adjusting to the Belfry system?
No news it seems. Sad

Maybe Haywood instituted a gag order.
You could be right my friend, it seems too quiet. I love Belfry but we are usually spirited, loud and obnoxious. So "no news" concerns me . LOL

not really go back if u can on last couple yrs, takes couple weeks so they can get true reading..
Running around in helmets doesn't tell a whole lot about any team.

ok I will start it, we are slow, lost all our leadership, gotta bunch of freshman that is gonna have to start, all the transfers are ineligible because the KHSAA started reading these forums and believed all you guys...I don't know how we are gonna get through this weak side of 3A...I do believe its Pike Centrals year..Confusednicker:
LOL...that is what everyone is hoping to hear. I bet your post went viral in every 3A school in Kentucky "This must be true, a Belfry fan admitted they were going to be terrible". BTW you left out that Haywood is retiring after this year and Chapman will be our new head coach.
Watched Lawrence practice yesterday. Number are up, I counted 58 kids. There was a lot of energy and hype that you usually expect early in the practice season. Quarterback is going to surprise a lot of people. He has good size, moves well, and throws a good ball on the move. Full back and tail back seem solid. They have a lot of skill players. Not going to name the names but the kids that came out will be stars on this team. Teams will have a hard time containing them. This team will be fun to watch.
Belfry and hazard 7 on 7 going on right now at Belfry.
^ Snap a few pics Skully. Give us the rundown later.
How did the skill guys look skully?
Sorry Pay, didn't get any pics. This was the first practice I was able to get to. Watched a little of the 7 on 7 and then went watched the lineman. On defense as usual from year to year the pirates pass defense is suspect. Hazard has great hands at the receiver positions. They were going up and getting the ball on deep passes. Seen Joplin and Corbett playing corner with Catron at safety. It's hard to tell who's who with just practice jerseys. Taylor and Corbett both took snaps on offense. Hatfield, Joplin and Willis was in the backfield for the majority of what I watched. Lineman as one 91 said in an earlier post are big and quick. Can't wait for the season to start.

Man I hope so!Confusednicker:
People talk a lot about Pike Central passing but the Dawg's could have the most dynamic passing game in the mountains this year.

Lol I forget the schedule layout but if CAK is before you, don't get your hopes up. No matter how good it looks, Cole Smith is going to teach us a thing or two. I don't think we'll see a QB as good as that kid all year and maybe not for the next few. D1 bound, IMHO

Maybe, but does he have the receivers that we will have?Confusedhh:

Probably. Knoxville is a little bigger than Louisa.

We shall see. I think a lot of people will be shocked when they see the skill players for the Dawg's this year.................especially at the receiver position.
Every Pirate fan knows how our pass defense is from year to year. But they all have to agree that last year was prob one of the best pass defenses we have had. They proved that in the State championship. I didn't say this year they were down but we all know losing a corner such as Sani Warren hurts. I believe we will have some young men step up. Definitely quick in the secondary. I guess we will see how everything works out in just a few weeks.
