Guys the paper was my idea, and I thought it was classic. Bottom line tonight is that the Bobcats came out to play and the Blackcats did not. I thought both pep sections were fantastic tonight, especially Betsy Layne since they were outnumbered. But, I do have a feeling that these 2 teams will meet up again.

For one thing the other P'burg players lined up and went through to shake hands and saw no one there to shake hands with. So then they turned and went to the locker room not wanting to stick around for the BL celebration. Coach Rose started hollering at his players to shake hands and the last two Blackcats on the floor #32 Sean Leslie and # 10 Jordon Hall turned and returned the shakes. The other Blackcats would have had they known. And the Bobcats had just gotten the number one seed for the Dist tourn. So reason for celebration. Now that being said The Blackcats just plain had an off night that could cause night mares. I think they were something like 20 for 59 or 60. And Michael Stephens ended up with total body cramps. Both calves, both thighes front and back, along with both forearms and bicepts. He had to carried out an hour after the game ended. And is still in alot of pain. Thanks for the concern.

yeah it is possible both teams will meet again but the bobcats clearly wanted this one more than the blackcats p-burg seemed to have trouble with the three ball tonight there was several air balls but all around i thought it was a great game the leslie boy had a great denfensive effort tonight against kidd there was little to no points in the post for BL tonight but i hope they meet again and p-burg gives BL a run for their money again because im sure BL will be ready

"blackcat" Wrote:Overall this was the worst game I have seen Prestonsburg play all year. They were out coached and out played. Jackie Day did a decent job, but can't control his players. All they wanted to do was shoot threes and had no set plays, which is where the coach needs to come in. They should have stuck to their game, which is work the ball inside with an occasional three to the open man. About the only good thing I saw tonight was Leslie's defense on Kidd, he completely shut him down.
Maybe this loss was good for Prestonsburg?hh:
OK, you tell me what you would have done. The shots arent falling from under the goal, layups, crib shots, They arent falling from 3 point range, Yea at times some of the players were a little impatient. Coach Crisp used all of his time outs which is very unusual. We flat out had the most off night you can have shooting wise. Well not shooting, making basket wise. Rest up Blackcats, We have something to prove before this season ends.
Oh, congrats BL

Has their been a game you've seen where the refs haven't been horrible? P-Burg is 0-2 against BL, so I think the better team made a statement and won again tonight....

I said Coach Crisp did a decent job, but Prestonsburg shot way to many threes. What was their stats from behind the arc? I'm guessing 6 for 30, most of those coming within the last minute.

Watch for BL during the tourney they are very solid.

Congrats to BL. Only times I would be a BL fan all year would be againist SF and P-burg. But good luck to all the teams in the 58th.

Sorry, but we have to realize how frustrating it has to be for a coach when nothing is falling, or working on the offensive end of the court. rebounds were big in this game. I think the first half BL had 22 or 23 P'burg had 11. The last 2 or 3 min's of the game Stephens was out and he usually set's up the play's.

It is, but if you can't make the shots outside, then go under the basket where it has worked for P-burg all year.

well well...looks like the old blackcat team we saw back in december...if i can remember they lost 7 out of 8 or something like that....the blackcats just let BL control everything in the game...no second shots for pburg, no fast breaks, and FOR SURE no good 3 point shooting....it looks like the blackcats dont know what to do against a zone or something but i figured no one would be able to play them zone with their good shooting guards... there is no excuse the looks were there and we just werent hitting the blackcats went 9-30 from behind the arc....it seemed like they were all in one pass and then shoot a 3 mode. It didnt like the blackcat team that has been taking out the region's power house teams like we have seen these last few weeks...i dont know maybe this loss will just encourage the blackcats to try even harder in the first round of the district just so they might have a chance to play those bobcats again....it seems like they just have our number this year lol

Well BL fans we had to go to the cafetearia during school on friday and was told what we could and could not do ! For EXAMPLE painting our body's and not wearing any t-shirts! And we were also told that Floyd County Board members in the stands watching us b/c the AC cheerleaders reported us to the board b/c we did our Hail Blackcats chant while they were cheering on the court during a timeout or inbetween quarters! Any ways BL fans Where were your cheerleaders at ?

Question & comments to Blackcat faithful, I realize Pburg had a an off night.
But where was Tyler Mullins? Crisp put the Ousley kid in the game for what reason? I totally did not understand the substitution. I will say one thing the Patton kid was very impressive on the defensive end. The BL player did not score or even get a look at the basket. Patton comes out, then next time down the floor that BL player scores. Realize that the Patten kid made a stupid foul on the three point shot, but it was a academy award job, I saw no actual contact. How can Tyler Mullins, 6'4" and Trevor Patton 6'6 sat on the bench all night when BL is killing you on the inside. One time I would like to see Michael Stephens, Sean Leslie, Lewis Barnett, Tyler Mullins, and Trevor Patton on the floor at the same time. That would be one of the biggest teams in the region. That would take defensive pressure off of Sean and Lewis. Also it would take foul pressure off. Brooks is a great kid, but he gives up to much on defense. Then you could rotate Mcguire, Mullins, Patton under the goal. I saw the Patton kid jump so high for a rebound he was about a foot higher that anyone on the floor. He almost hit his head on the backboard. If you are playing a small fast team then, Start Stephens, Leslie, Barnett, Hughes, and either Mullins, Patton, Mcguire, (rotate). I will say there is more talent and potential on the Pburg team than any team in the region. Quit worrying about who the players parents are and just play the players that can get the job done. Just an observation.

BeaverCreek I agree. Where was Tyler Mullins all night? He is awesome at pulling down the rebounds, and Prestonsburg needed them desperately all night.

It didnt matter who P-burg put in BL came out to win this one no matter what and the only D i saw P-burg playing was when they were holding our guys jerseys i saw Derek Cases jeresy getting pulled from all the way at the end of the of our bench

I've watched the game two and a half times, running slow motion to get a good look at fouls and no calls, and what should have been walks and moving picks that were not called. You can see alot more when the game is not moving so fast. I could never be a ref, because I don't like making a mistake that could cause a team to loose or a player injury. There were alot of missed and bad calls at both ends of the floor. I didnt see any jersey pulling, even in slow mo. But like I said I saw fouls not called and then little touch fouls treated like a mugging. Walks, travels, moving picks, all not called. I have to ad BL played a good game over all. poor rebounding, missed shots and turnovers beat the Blackcats. correct those and the game comes out different without changing the calls.

im blind ur crazy pal ask any of the BL players and they will tell you they were being held
02-12-2006, 03:30 AM
And the P'burg players will tell you they were being hooked, and pushed. So what does this conversation solve? Nothing except both teams players say the other teams player were getting away with something. And no I'm not crazy, just a little nutty. I don't know about your eye site. I hope it gets better.

The majority of BL points did not come from inside. Granted the Bobcats handedly out rebounded the blackcats, but rebounding is a matter of hustle not size. It was a great game and should be treated as such. Besides what is wrong with giving Betsy Layne some credit, they are a very good, solid team. Prestonsburg is a very good, solid team. It just happened to be the night of the BOBCAT.

Unofficially, we had 9-30 for Prestonsburg from the outside. At one point, I believe the Blackcats were 4-24 late in the contest.
Also, where was Mullins? I hadn't really thought about that until BCC brought it up.
And as for Prestonsburg's fouls, there are nights when officials won't let teams get away with defenders slapping and reaching for the ball and arms. Friday was one of those nights for Prestonsburg, not to mention their shooting woes from the floor.
Congrats to Brent Rose and Betsy Layne. Probably the biggest win for BL in 7 seasons. Easily the biggest win for Rose as a coach at Betsy Layne. Nice to see them finally putting a run together. Keep up the good work.
District tournament is WIDE OPEN...as fans, we will be surprised.

I heard the other day Mullins might be leaving the team, but I can't say I blame him.
02-12-2006, 07:40 PM
Me either blackcat, but this far in the season I'd say he'd just stay with it. It is ridiculous though, Mullins should recieve much more playing time!
