I heard a saying this past weekend...
"If it's not on bluegrassrivals, then it's not big time"
High school wrestling is growing in the Commonwealth. There is no reason why this board doesn't have more members that discuss HS wrestling.
I'm not sure exactly how many schools have a wrestling program but I do know there are 8 regions across our great Commonwealth. Every wrestler in the Commonwealth from Graves County to Phelps starts the season with the goal of winning the State Title in their weight class.
Some schools (Union County, LaRue County, Woodford County, Campbell County) have a deep-rooted, proud history in wrestling. Some schools (East Ridge, Boyd County, Phelps, Belfry) are either just starting up a program or are starting up a program after a twenty year or so drought of not having a program.
If you've never been to a HS wrestling meet... I suggest you make plans to support your local HS the same way you would on a Friday night in the fall. The kids work hard all year.... and some areas have either little or no community/student support.

I missed the 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 152, 170, 182, 195....
I didn't know Geordon Blanton was going to 138... but he did win that weight class. I did get the 220 and 285 lbs. classes right.
JC did win the team title.
But I was way off on picking Perry Central to challenge for 2nd place.
Montgomery Co. placed 2nd with 194 points
Harrison County placed 3rd with 193.5 points
