I think teams would be better served to have a grid and keep money for expenses. Less and less money coming from schools themselves. Most programs need any extra revenue they can get.
Just my thoughts.
You do not have to pay, that fee is waived if a team can not find a team to play. If they do find another they have to pay if they want their kids to be recognized .
I think it is worth it.

Lets be honest here, how many times has the SEKC got a kid so much "recognition" that he wouldn't have got looked at by the same college if the SEKC wasn't there?
To me, its useless. Some may disagree, but its not different than if BGR took those teams and made a list of the top players. Its not going to affect the outcome of there college choices or what coaches look at them.
There are more kids offered in one day at the Border Bowl than in a whole season of SEKC all star teams.
I don't care about the money, quite frankly I have no clue what it cost or how much of it you make. IF you must have it though, make the teams play each other.
My overall point is, there no difference in the SEKC and me making a SEKY all star team in 10 minutes here on BGR.
A better ideal would be to get a bunch of these teams together and have a full 3-4 day football schedule at different locations to showcase teams and talent. 2 games a day for 4 days. That's 16 teams that could play, and I know there are 16 teams down here that would get into something like that. What holds you back is schools like Corbin would never agree to playing half the teams in it.

Im all for recognition. But that's why you play games in the first place.
My point is, how many college coaches are actually looking at SEKC rosters and going out to recruit them? I would imagine none. It may be a nice thing to add to a resume, but so would being apart of a BGR all star team that we could do in no time.
Its not hurting anything, I just don't get the point when the teams don't play each other.

It's not recognition for college coaches. I agree that has no impact.
It's for the player to be able to pull out the newspaper clipping in 20 years and show his son that he was the SEKC Player of the Year in 2013 or that he was on the all-conference team or whatever.

I agree what a joke!! I looked at Corbin's kids that made it seems the whole d-line except the teams leading tackler made it. They also had some kids make it due to their name. I don't think a coach should be able to choose his own team it should be based on performance.

I agree with GO BIG RED, you express my thoughts exactly. Ive heard a lot about this kid and enjoyed watching him play, so that why I started this thread. To me he was the best O-lineman on his team but was the only one left off. People say what would I change or do different, like anything in the mountains cut out the politics! Let the stats speak, not who's family donates the most or is owed a favor! Oh by the way Keep Coal Burning!

I can understand that, but it does not sway my opinion.
If the right kids were picked, it would help it a lot.

Really a BGR team. I thought the SEKC had no credit in selection.

Addressing a couple of points.....Firstly, that a kid being recruited by bjg time schools wasnt on the SEKC honors list and that is the coach's fault. While this is true, I would also submit that a kid being recruited is done so because the coach has submitted his name previously. Coaches are constantly in contact with college recruiters who always want to know if they have players who, in their opinion, can play at the next level. The point being that if a kid is being contacted by colleges, his coach did it in the first place and their would be no conspiracy. There are many dynamics at work on who a coach submits for post-season honors and, without knowing the situation, I think we should reserve comment. Secondly, on getting "free" awards from the conference.....after thinking about it, I dont think I can comment on this without offending some schools, so I'll leave this post as is.
