With the impressive class of '14 leaving the lights for the last time does anyone have picks for who is going to improve or decline next season in Class 1A?? Leave me posts for all districts! Thanks

District 1 should be ranked in the same order. That is how they will finish. It will be the Cardinals, Panthers, Pilots and Bulldogs in that order. Mayfield should make another strong run at state and I would not count us out for repeating for the 3rd straight year. We will take 2-3 losses early on in the season to the larger teams. I think that is all we will lose this year. I think we will repay Caldwell this year at home as well, this because Sindelar will be running for his life in that game.

I hope we do repay caldwell but i dont know if we can winning state is more important anyways we will b young and they return all of there skill players they are losing like 3 on o line and all there linebackers so they might not be as good but dont think we will be as good either im more worried about frankfort or beechwood as they should b tough i would have loved to see us play caldwell again after the defense improved caldwell never improved it ended up being a good loss for mayfield and i think caldwell got the big head after that win

Williamsburg, Hazard and Pikeville will be the front runners from the East. Raceland, Paintsville and Fairview are teams who could push the frontrunners. Campbellsville and Pineville will have competitive teams.

^^agreed. Raceland faces some struggles but should be a tough team come playoff time.

Caldwell will be loaded again next year 55. Returning on offense will be Elijah Anderson, Jaylen Boyd, Dee Cain, Eli Pepper, and Elijah Sindelar. Returning on defense will be Jacob Burke, Dee Cain, Sean Conger, Trevor Davis, Landon Mitchell, Drake Vanhooser, and Josh Young.

You miss the Forrest for the trees. They lose that line. Our d line will be fast again. Sindelar will be running.

I hope you're right; revenge would be nice. Maybe they will be undefeated again next year when we play.

We won't be.

Negative. No one can say 2014 is Wburg's year. After beating Hazard by 2 scores, Raceland 3 scores (who beat pikeville by 2 scores), then getting throttled its hard to say they its their year. But, with what they return, Wburg has to be a narrow favorite to win the east. Hazard will be better as will Pikeville, though. They are definite contenders though. And imo, it will be Williamsburg/Pikeville in the semis. Thats just on paper though.

I hope 64 gets a chance to see us again next year. I think 2 times in a row may make a believer out of him.

Yall know I'm a stat man. Here are some interesting stats for you.
Mayfield is 70-5 over past 5 years
2 time state runners up
3 time state champs
back to back state champs
During this 5 year span we have outscored our opponents 3253-942
That is an average game score of 43-13
Now let's get another 1 in 2014.

Mysonis55 Williamsburg will be back.Replacing qb Dalton Sizemore is our biggest challenge.I don't think we lost nobody on defense.:Cheerlead

Your defense will not beat Mayfield. You can try to outscore us, a la Caldwell County.

Injuries are the great equalizer in 1A. Most 1A schools don't have the depth to recover from a couple of injuries. To play 11 games without a major injury is almost a miracle. It doesn't begin to get serious until the second round of the playoffs in the east. Williamsburg was fortunate an avoided injuries until the Raceland game. Not having Griffith in the Hazard game would have made a big difference. He like a lot of kids in 1A contribute on both sides of the ball and special teams. Lose one kid like that and you have to start switching kids around. Losing Sizemore, Shelton, Helton or Patrick would have been huge losses because they do so many things. I hope all teams avoid the injury bug next year.

^^true. Raceland got lucky as well. Having Christian healthy in bith the Lawrence/Ashland games probably would have been a difference maker. I look for him to have a big year next year. If he can stay healthy. He ran the ball 3 times for 45 yards against Wburg. Wburg had no answer for him. He was the reason for Raceland's lone score. He completely changed the attitude of Raceland's running game.
Raceland has plenty of tallent and plenty of lineman, no d1 size in the trenches, but the soph/jr classes are very football smart.
Hazard lost alot on the line as well, but returning Morgan and Jones, plus their frosh/sophs are pretty tallented and have good size. How they develop their under classmen will make a big difference. An injury or two can take Hazard out of contention in the East.

Mayfield will be in the thick of it. If we get good QB play we will win State.

To take a page from commentators at college and nfl level, our qb just has to be a good manager next year. We will be able to run the ball better than anyone in 1a next year. Our defense will only need 2 scores per game next year. Defense is about to be lights out once again at MHs.

Hazard should have a good line but probably not like this year but they will have a solid o-line and d-line... Linebacker play will be where Hazard needs work and to fill the gaps..

Good Gosh, I think 64 is back. Don't count the Bulldogs out just yet. You don't seem to understand the been there done that thing. All you do when you talk like that about an accomplished program is give them the focus they need.

Yup he's back. We were all worried he had fallen off the face of the earth...yet now here we are. A little more than 200 days till campa start up and the number boys (55 and 64) are already at it. Someone from mayfield musthave really done something to 64 back in the day.
