I heard Chapman was headed out at PC but you never know. A lot of talent coming back there. Rumor mill puts Combs headed out also. First year hire with Chapman. Prolly sick of putting up with him. I'd say Combs will be looking back toward Jackson and get back in the Breathitt program. A buddy of mine from Jenkins said they heard his nae thrown around there but I'm sure he will not go there and take over a program that does not have a lot to build with. I talked with him after the Belfry game and he talked like he liked Central but if Chapman leaves I'm sure the administration will not let another Breathitt guy take over. Whoever picks this young coach up will be getting a good one. I played against him and he was a heck of a player and a classy one at that. I don't know if he reads this stuff but if you do get away from Central. Not a football driven school.

What about schools like Rowan, Powell, Morgan, Lewis, East and West Carter? Heard some of those may come open!! None really had a great year this year!

Bean Counter Wrote:Any updates on the situation at Southwestern? Lots of rumors floating around about Chuck Smith, formerly of Boyle County, checking into the program. Any truth to that?

None. Nobody is calling. No open jobs. No teaching jobs.

Hopefully PT

Not sure what is going on with Tilghman. Crowds seemed way down this year. The fan base has become restive.

There are reports that since the Wayne loss, there have been one or more assistant(s) resign @ PT + the DC's abrupt departure. Not seen anything official so tag that one as maybe/pending.

There is a meeting tonight at the Tilghman field house between Randy Wyatt and some parents. No idea what it is about or how many will be there. Could be to get an early start on next year. IDK.

Another informal meeting Thursday night in Paducah somewhere that was not called by the coach or the school. According to a Facebook post, parents, boosters, fans and former players are invited to attend to discuss the program's future direction. Don't know who has called it.

Typically, these types of meetings are not called when things are going well. Tilghman is a pressure pot job. Everybody is watching what you do. Wyatt has a cumulative record of 49-30. He has had a losing record once (2-8) his first year. After that, he has been 47-22. But his last two teams have finished at 8-4 and 8-6. He has been unable to beat Mayfield.

Muhlenberg Co is open per listsrv post today from coach Brandon Standiford.

Ok, I know how people in Harlan County LOVES to spread rumors but I just have to ask any Harlan County fans this question. Is Coach Larkey leaving? I would love to have a penny for every time I have heard this rumor and I mean rumor hear recently. I know crap like this goes on every year but I have heard this too many times. If anybody has any info on this please let me know. Personally I hope coach stays as long as he wants but I really can't blame him if he leaves and goes spend more time with his grandkids and maybe helping Chris. Whatever the case I love Coach and thank him for everything he has done for HC football whether he leaves this year or 5 years from now.

Rumor has it also that KOURNAL SANDERS will be the next man for the job also. GOOD LUCK TO YA

Wishful thinking by Pride. Not happening. All the people that MATTER in Bell Co. are very happy with the way the season ended and Coach Mills.

In contrast I think his school is going to be looking for a head coach by all indications.
#44
Coach Mills is an excellent coach. Bell needs to hang on to him. I would love to see him ay Whitley County.
#45
If Bell opens look for Dudley to return home......regardless of what the Whitley fans say.

I thought we pulled for the same school. Have you jump ship now to Bell you use to be with us at Knox. We will be fine as well. Better talk to the leak.
#47
So is Knox Cent coach going to Whitley
#48
Mills will be at Bell again next year ....His excellent game planning and performance with this years team with all the injuries and a small upper classman group was well above par.

I don't even see Bell making a change even if Dudley came calling
#49
As long as we have this superintendent Dudley will never coach at Bell again. She will not let that happen. Mills will be here, unless he decides to leave. I would not rule that out.
#50
So Bell Coach to go to Whitley
Knox coach to go to Bell
Dudley to Knox
Sounds like a love triangle

Sounds like fiction to me
#52
Dudley to Whitley
Hoskins to Bell
Mills to Madison Central
Russell stays at Knox
#53
^^
If and that's a big IF this happens I'd hate to see Mills leave Bell but I'm a big fan of Coach Hoskins and think he would be a great replacement.

This would sure make things interesting in head to head match ups Dudley against his former assistants
#54
I could seriously see Russell headed to Madison Central. His daughter is big time into cheerleading or something and they travel that way multiple times a week.

Everyone else stays put. Canaday would take over at Knox.

No replies from the Black Bear Nation about Larkey so I am gonna just say that the rumors are just rumors and I am glad. I want coach to stay as long as he wants. Go Black Bears. I have heard that there is several kids that didn't play last year that can help will be going out this year.

Apollo

Oldham Co
Ryle

Southwestern
Whitley
Barren Co
Campbellsville
Hopkins Central
South Laurel
Cov. Holy Cross
Marshall County
Todd Co Central

You can add Lexington Catholic on that list.

South Laurel is open?

The jobs that have officially come open thus far:

-Fairview
-Whitley County
-Muhlenberg County
-Lexington Catholic
-Madison Central
-Thomas Nelson
-Ryle
-Valley (already filled)
-Oldham County
-Logan County

That's 9 jobs that have come open before the state finals (I say this, because in most in years you only have one or two, if any before the Finals). Expect another BIG year of openings. It's been around the 40 mark (+/- a few) for the past several years.

…an unfortunate sign of the times.

Spiva, 40, has spent the past four seasons as the coach at Farnsley Middle School.
