DeSales with a record of 13-1 takes on Newport Central Catholic with a record of 10-4 who wins this 2A Title game and what are your thoughts.

NCC wins. Although Somerset scored a lot of points, I think defense will be the key for NCC. Obviously, they play the run better than the pass and that showed in the Somerset game. NCC has had a good run defense all year and that matches up well with Desales offensive approach. NCC special teams have been solid all year, look for this to being a deciding factor in the game.

I'm rooting for NCC but it is hard for me to get past that DeSales win over John Hardin. NCC's experience will help them but I have a feeling the Colts win a close one 28-21. I do have to say that I know very little about DeSales except for looking at scores there might be something on film that the Breds can exploit.

I'm not a NCC fan, but would like to see them bring another title to NKY. My gut tells me that NCC will take a serious butt whippin.

DeSales beat John Hardin and Warren Central. They avenged their only loss by beating CAL 34-0. They just beat Murray, who beat front runner Caldwell County, 38-0. I don't think this one will even be close. DeSales by at least 21.

DeSales early, often and all day. This is basically the team that barely lost to Caldwell last year. I think that game is going to be totally the Colts way.

It'll be interesting to see if this ends up being a close game. Normally, I'd root for the east team but NewCath has had its share of titles. I'm pulling for the Colts to win (even if they do have some of the uglier uniforms I've seen...lol).

I'd like to see it end up being a close game. The way games have gone the past few weeks, it's apparent NewCath, Somerset, Prestonsburg, and Middlesboro ended up very evenly matched teams with Danville and Betsy Layne not far behind. If the final ends up closely matches, it shows how close each of these teams truly were to the Title.

I never quite understood what the term troll meant. Now I see. Mysonis55 is the biggest troll in the world. Like I said in another post. Desalles may win, but mayfield couldn't beat the top 8 2A teams.

i see a win coming out in the favor of Newport Central Catholic. Their defense is monsterous against the run and thats what ive seen Desales all year. It will be tough for them to run through that. Now, NCC isnt a very good passing defending defense. i still see a NCC victory. I must add, and many will call me an idiot, but Middlesboro should very well be in this game. Had several key players out and still took somerset to overtime and somerset barely got beat by NCC. Middlesboro returns their entire team back for next year so be ready to have Middlesboro High School in the conversation for the 2014 Class AA State Championship. After being this close to it this year i expect nothing less than guns blazin for 15 weeks. We will be back

Didn't somerset beat Middlesboro twice this season???? I'm not sure Middlesboro deserved to be there. Somerset was at full steam in that semi final against ncc. Be careful what you wish for, NCC returns a ton of starters next season also.

Region 4 will no doubt be wild and woolly in 2014. Along with Middlesboro, Prestonsburg returns virtually everyone. Danville returns the bulk of its team, too. It'll be a fun season, for sure...

But.... this is still 2013. NewCath and DeSales are in the Final because they earned it by winning through. This is THEIR year and THEIR thread. There's going to be a lot of good football in Bowling Green !!

It looks like this will be a horse race rather than a dog fight.
In 14 games, Desales has only allowed more than 7 points in 5 of those games and had 6 shutouts in the other 9 games.
NCC does not have the horses to win this game. DeSales has too much horsepower and pulls away. No photo finish needed for this horse race.

Not making excuses here, but NCC should be down in 1A this season. Desalles has 90+ kids on their roster, 25 seniors and 23 juniors. NCC has 12 seniors with about 40 kids on their roster. Desalles based on enrollment should be in 3A. Reminds me a little like the NCC @ Corbin game in 2010. Let's hope it ends the same for NCC. Like I said, this was not to make excuses, just stating facts. Best of luck NCC.

No... those 40 dressed for NewCath is a good healthy number for a 2A squad. NewCath is where it belongs.

DeSales, otoh, is much nearer the 3A enrollment margin. The Colt staff must do a an EXCELLENT job getting kids to go out for football. Having 90+ dressed out isn't typically seen at schools smaller than 5A !!

It's a good thing they can only play 11 at a time, eh NKY ?? :biggrin:
