BCS Scenarios
#1
Here's the BCS rankings prior to yesterdays games:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

Yes, premature considering we don't know how far Bama drops and if Auburn rises above OSU.

But lets take a crack at a few options. And lets present some hypotheticals:

1. OSU loses to Mich St., and FSU wins the ACC. Who plays FSU in the NC game?

2. Both FSU and OSU lose the conference championship games. Who plays in the NC game? Mizzou, Bama, Clemson, Baylor, Auburn, Okla St, Michigan St

3. Who wins the SEC title game to face either FSU/OSU?

4. Does Bama have a shot at the game if the contenders lose and face Auburn ( if Auburn wins the SEC title game ) in a rematch, like the LSU-Florida rematch of old?

5. Both FSU and OSU win their conference titles games and play for the National Title? Would the BCS allow a one loss team to leap frog an unbeaten?

Feel free to add other possibilities. Thanks to Alabama and Auburn for a great game last night.

Don't everyone jump at once :big grin:. If OSU and FSU lose next week there will be at least 7 one loss teams in FBS and one undefeated in Northern Illinois if they win their conference championship games.

Yes this is the time of year most cry foul and are unhappy with whether their favorite conferences, teams, strength of schedule, computer vs. human, blah, bluh, nah, nah, etc…

The 4 game playoff next year would not remedy this years scenario of a potential situation where FSU and OSU lose or win. So how do you handle 5-8 one loss teams and an undefeated from a mid major? Take the path of the Division II and III folks. Even under a scenario where both OSU and FSU win, how do you determine who the 3rd and 4th team will be. There could be 4 one loss teams to choose from.

Award an automatic bid for each of the 10 fbs conference champs. Have 6 at large bids to accommodate the rest of the contenders. There will be 15 total games each bowl sponsored. The BCS bowl games rotate the NC game to keep the money bags happy.

Between limiting non-conference games and not having a 15-30+ days between the last regular season game and a bowl game. There will be plenty of time.

Division 2 and 3 have been doing this with great success for years.

If three teams that have 7 SEC wins each get left out of the NC game, and OSU whose signature win is over 4 loss Wisconsin gets in, I'm not going to watch!

Heres the way i see it.

Florida State wins, there in
Ohio State wins, there in
Auburn wins, and either of the two above lose, there in
Missouri wins, and either of the top two lose, there in
If Ohio State and Florida State both lose, Bama will get the Missouri/Auburn winner.
