John Hardin 11-2 @ Bowling Green 12-0 (Class 5A Semifinal)
#1
John Hardin travels to Bowling Green to take on a very good Bowling Green team. John Hardin looks to avenge last years 14-13 loss to BG. BG and John Hardin have good defenses and I expect this game to be a slobber knocker.
BG wins but not in a blowout 35-21.

Why is there no posts/scores regarding these 2 teams? Are there no fans
on BGR? Or have most anointed BG 5A champs?

I have not seen either team play this year so I am hoping for some predictions from those that are familiar or have seen these two teams play this year.

The big question for us John Hardin fans is whether Matt Elam will be able to play. He hurt his knee Friday and will have an MRI today. That being said, BG is the better team, but the John seniors know how to win and they will play their hearts out. Most think this game will be a blowout, but John has enough talent to where if they can limit turnovers and sustain drives, they can keep it somewhat close. I will pick BG by 2 TDs.

Hoss is a loyal John Hardin Fan and he and I have spoken all year about this game. This is the 3rd year in a row these two teams have met. Bowling Green has won the last two, but last year we won on a trick play ( hook and lateral ) and a 2 point conversion. John Hardin deserved that win, but fate took over. I think The Purples would be too much for anyone in the state to handle this year. They returned 16 starters from last year and has played a pretty tough schedule this year and are still undefeated with a 42 game win streak in hand. It's been rough on John Hardin and Warren Central the past 3 years. Coming into this year, the only losses either one had was to Bowling Green. If not for this run by the Purples, one or both would almost assuredly have won a state championship. John Hardin has the best fans around. In defeat or victory they are supportive of their team and their opponents. They are a class act all the way around and they will win a state championship soon. I hope it's not this year, but it wouldn't kill me if it was. I'll say Bowling Green 42-21. Good luck to both teams.

On a side note, Blackman, one of the Tennessee teams the Purples beat this year, beat Oakland Tn. 16-3 last Friday night in the Quarterfinals. Oakland was ranked 28th in the nation by MaxPreps. Bowling Green is currently ranked 87th in the nation by MaxPreps. Our district games kept us from moving up in the polls. We started out 24th.

You see AP, its messages like this that give me even less hope that we are going to beat youSmile On a serious note, our district and quite frankly our region are and have been very weak the last few years. The games do not prepare us for the challenge that BG presents us. We scheduled Highlands for a reason, because I think they closely resemble what BG's offense will bring to the table. That game seems like an eternity ago and I am not sure if we remember what it was like playing a great offense. We haven't had much competition since that game and that is what really worries me.

I saw that John Hardin vs Highlands game. Your guys gave them one of the few good games they had this year. I would never be so foolish, as to think the Purples are unbeatable, but I do believe this is the best senior class to ever come out of Bowling Green. That says a lot! It will take a Herculean effort by the Dawgs to earn this victory, but if anyone can do it, my money would be on John Hardin. On a positive note for all 5A teams, Bowling Green will graduate 28 seniors, including 16 starters and all of their skill players. Next year should be a free for all, but you better hurry, because our incoming freshman and sophomore classes are loaded.

I think this match up has been lost in the shuffle of all the upsets, shockers, and nailbiters that took place last weekend. Beechwood, Caldwell County, CAL, Simon Kenton, and Central losing. Scott County, Paducah Tilghman, Somerset, and Pulaski County winning close games. Male beating Trinity like a drum.

Now that all the dust is starting to settle, this game will pick up more attention. I hope Elam can play

Pulaski County Freshman and sophomore class better than BG and until the sophomore class graduates at Pulaski it isn't even close. Your right, after this year it's Pulaski's to lose for next 2 years.

Matt Elam has a partially dislocated patella and swelling around his meniscus but no torn ligaments. Great news for the young man and a relief for all of us. I don't see him playing Friday, but I am glad he is ok.

I don't know much about Pulaski County. Are the freshmen and sophomores starting on this team? I know they have had some very good middle school teams lately. but I don't put much stock in that alone. It really depends on the high school program and it looks like they are doing pretty good. Our senior class last year never won a game in middle school or as freshmen, but won the state championship their senior year because of a great junior class and the program they are in. I really hope Pulaski County and Bowling Green meet in the finals. They will, at the very least, see where their program is and what they need to do to excel on that level. Good luck.

Bowling Green has one of those very special teams. They win by 14.
