As a true rival since they have never beaten us. So the rivalry thing still don't hold any weight when it comes to SOS. I still cannot get a BOCO fan to answer the question on how their team would respond to adversity if they ever fell behind in a game not having faced that this season.
What some BoCo fans likely keep as a dirty little secret is that after last years loss to Belfry there was a pretty big parental backlash against the BoCo staff for building their kids 13 - 0 record up against a weak schedule as being world beaters, unbeatable and not having them prepared to play a good team. They knew this team was not ready for the next level. Even some talk about praying all the good teams last year would get upset because they knew if they had to play them they would be in trouble. Schedule isn't any better this year, wonder if the same sentiment is hanging around under the surface

Parental backlash? You would think Coach Hodge was the National Coach of the Year around these parts. Where do you come up with this stuff? Let me guess Topix?

HAHA this is completely false and made up. We all knew we had a tough rode ahead of us at Belfry, but to say there was backlash against a first year coach who started his campaign 13-0 is completely made up. I thought you were better than that ...

The teams Belfry played out of district atleast finished at .500 or better. If you don't have instate teams to play, go to Tennessee or Ohio to find competition. Belfry played Christian Academy of Knoxville this season in Tennessee. In years past Belfry played Ironton,OH numerous times. I'd love for the Belfry to play Alcoa,TN...we would get beat handily but hey its all about preparation for adversity, something Bourbon hasn't faced at all. Can Bourbon come back if faced with a 14 pt defecit in the 3rd qtr? Bourbon is very accustomed to running clocks by halftime so could the colonels play 4 quarters of football?
Let's takeaway JC who waxed that A**
Southwestern was 1-10, CAK was 6-7, Harlan County beat 1 team with a record of .500 or better, Somerset is a 2a school who just played PBurg down to the wire, the same PBURG who lost to Powell County, a team that Bourbon thrashed.
Lets not act like you had a schedule full of world beaters.
Madison Southern refused to renew the Bourbon series at the last minute and Clark Co. who is 15 minutes away needed a game, so Hodge took that game.

Maybe, but it is floating around some cesspools on the internet. I did scrape the bottom of the barrel for that one I will admit. It ruffled some feathers, done it's job.
Honestly regardless of schedule strength BoCo should be commended on back to back undefeated regular seasons and their recent return to success. If I remember correctly there have been some very down years in recent memory for the Colonels.
As Pirate fans we have have enjoyed a long stretch of success. Since at least 1998 we have been to the third round or beyond in all but 3 years, low points in the mid 90's and losses to Central in the title games have made us appreciate every single win. We may "hate" a team leading up to a big game but will be the first to give props when we are sent packing.
It's been said we aren't acting like the underdog, that may be true. It's because we like it when others think we are the dog.
All that being said I can't wait for Friday night. Win or lose 2013 has been an incredible year for both teams and I only hope we get a chance to dance again next season regardless of the outcome because Belfry - Bourbon could shape up to be one heck of a playoff rivalry.

You really don't want to go there. There was fans from other schools across the state and even the school that lost to us in the Region round - Stillman Valley, IN voting for Coach Haywood in the final round so your argument is invalid sir.

It was far better than beating teams that went 2-8 and 3-7. No one from BOCO will answer the question...How will your team respond if they are down oh um 28-14 with 7 minutes left in the game? Having been accustomed to only playing half of the game all year long, can Bourbon's starters play all 4 quarters down to the wire? No one knows because they haven't had to do it. Goiong to be interesting to say in the least what their reaction is if faced with adversity. This is the point that I'm trying to get at.

If you believe Haywood is a better coach than Dale Mueller you have lost your ever loving mind.
He is a very good coach, a very successful coach, and a very classy coach, but Mueller's teams have been nothing less than dominant in his reign at Highlands.

It's nearly impossible to say how they would respond if they fall behind early because they've done nothing but take care of business every week. I don't think you can knock a team for never having a letdown in spite of facing adversity through injuries and the like.

Yes you can, high school football is about getting ready for the playoffs for winning programs with great history a 10-0 regular season means very little to them .....its Regional and State Championships that are their goals. That's why they schedule tough teams in the regular season to get them prepared for the playoffs
I'll take 7-3 if it makes my team better prepared Bourbon is an up and coming program with good athletes and a new coach and I believe they will adopt this plan in the future
Again Bourbon Schedule hurts them in this game but I'm stick with my pick sound the upset alert
