HSFOOTBALL Wrote:Or you could say that if what Bourbon County is doing works, and Belfry gets down early how will they catch up?
or
How will Belfry respond if Bourbon hits them with a couple of big play scores in a row. Is the offense deep enough to sustain a 14-15 play drive and have to get back on the field after only a couple of minutes rest and try to do the same?
A blind man could see that the colonels struggled up front all year last year ... (see garrard and Bath Co. games in the regular season) So far this year, they have not shown the same struggles. Will Belfry expose some weaknesses?
Thats the good thing about Belfry's schedule. We have seen them have to do these things this year. Against Pike Central the Pirates found themselves down 19 - 0 very early in the game. Quick scoring wont affect the Pirates. They will play until the final whistle. Being down will not impact their game plan. BC can jump up 21 to 0 and I guarantee you everyone can guess the next play the Belfry offense will run.
Johnson Central put Belfry out, in the 3rd quarter, the Pirates never stopped playing. Johnson Centrals key to victory was not running all over Belfry all night, it was that amazing O-line that allowed it to happen. The same O-line that allowed them to burn most of the 4th quarter on a long sustained drive. That's going to be the real key to this entire game. Can Belfry's young, yet much improved D-line play well. Can Bourbons more experienced, improved O-line play well for 4 quarters.
BC may get some explosive runs in early, do they have the horses who can do it for 4 quarters. Jumping to a lead unless its a fast running clock will not be enough. They will need to play all 4 quarters.
The depth the Pirates play with make them very suited to play 4 quarters of football regardless of the situation.

Two things I can promise ...
1. This isn't Pike Central, who to me looked awful in both Belfry games.
2. If Bourbon gets up 21-0 (not likely) START THE BUS!
Just like with Belfry, you can't let Bourbon get going.

Not comparing Pike Central to Bourbon at all, being down 3 scores is still being down 3 scores. Football is a game of situations. Having experience in those situations is always an advantage.

I am loving the fact that we are the underdogs in this game and that Bourbon fans\players are doing all the trash talking. Yes, Belfry fans are talking too but the playes are slient and sitting and reading all of this. Yes, one player made a comment, but that player is also out for the year with an injury and is not playing. I am sure Coach Haywood has kept the boys focused on the task at hand and there is no doubt in my mind that Belfry will show up ready to play on Friday.
All year, Bourbon has had Belfry on their mind, we are their superbowl. The pressure is on them to beat Belfry this year because its what they have been focused on.
Make fun of us all you you want by calling us hicks and hillbillies, talk all you want but talk has never won a game. It just shows how little class that the majority of the Bourbon fanbase seems to have. I know theres bad apples in every fanbase, but this seems to be a whole bushel that is giving a black eye to the Bourbon program. The colonels want to be respected as a State power, but respect is not given, its earned.

Bourbon kiddies are stepping on quite a few toes with mountainfolk comments......that covers a whole lot more area than just Belfry. With that being said....I look forward to seeing the pitiful looks on their faces when Belfry crushes their hopes and dreams Friday night. Enjoy it while it lasts Colonels, your gravy train is about to be derailed.

No offense, but I'm not sure how you can say the majority of the fanbase doesn't have class when all of those pics but one was taken from one girl's twitter account. It doesn't matter if the Belfry player is injured or not, he still represents the team.
There have only been a couple of football players talking about the game and it wasn't "trash" talk but rather just talking about how they couldn't wait to play this game. Of course they're excited about it. Belfry should take it as a compliment that they've hyped this game up so much.
By the way, 2 of the people posing as Bourbon County fans on this thread have been suspended because they had Pike County IP addresses.
I agree that the stuff above is ridiculous, but don't try to say it's the majority of the fanbase when you have no way of knowing that.

I can think of 3-4 that play consistently both ways and fatigue wont be an issue for any of them. There are a couple of others that play both ways periodically. Coach Hodge has the Colonels in excellent condition whether they have had to play 4 qrts or not.

That bolded statement is interesting, and not surprising. I don't want to offend anyone, but his stuff is just trash talking and we all do it!! As a matter of fact, I'm gonna save that first picture to use next year!!!

They've wanted Belfry all year....well they may be sorry that thay got what they wanted once the final horn sounds Friday night in Paris.

Other than the one BC post, what other player posts have you seen. Im sure that was addressed early in the week. The one's I have seen are talking about taking it to the field. It appears to me that there is also a large number of Belfry fans being "classless" on here as well. I say again, both teams have worked very hard to get to this point, lets just respect them and their effort and let them decide this on Friday night.

True, but it really isn't the majority doing the trash talk/stupid pictures at Bourbon County. Several people have expressed their disdain for the trash talk and pictures and said it needs to be settled on the field. Just a few people CAN make a fanbase APPEAR to be disrespectful, etc.

Agreed
I think the general consensus is the same. The players (well everyone except Holman and Willis it seems) want everyone to shut up and just let them play. The people carrying it on are parents and cheerleaders (who have been the most vicious of all)
People like making a mountain out of a mole hill and playing the "disrespect" card and in the age of social media all it takes is one person's ignorance to go viral and make everyone look bad.
I am sure if someone took my joking rhymes out of context they could paint it as "trash talk" or "disrespecting" when that is the furthest from the truth and nothing more than some banter for entertainment... generally speaking I have learned over the years that when it comes to High School Football most people simply need to remember IT IS A GAME and to develop a sense of humor.
When Belfry and Pikeville plays jetpilot and I have our yearly exchange where from the outside it may look like we are downright mean and angry.. in actuality we are both laughing with each other and waiting for the other's response. If people simply develop a thicker skin then a beautiful game just gets all the more enjoyable. Nothing we say on here is going to change Friday's outcome..but it sure as heck can make the game more memorable for everyone involved.

I hope that line isn't nearly as accurate as the ones I put last week... hopefully it is more like my Scott County vs. Henry Clay line except in Belfry's favor
The last time I used a Belfry line in Set The Line was the Johnson Central game and JC covered

If Bourbon was to pull off the impossible by beating the Crimson Tide this weekend there will be a lot of crow eaten on Saturday and Sunday while I'm sopping up my turkey hash!!
