While driving to Rupp yesterday, I tuned in to the Kennedy's Wildcat Den KSR pre-game show with Matt Jones.
Several callers was asking Why the attendance was so low at Rupp for the students and fans alike.
- UK student tickets are $5 dollars. But still the UK student section looks bare. The eRuppution Zone has went from the 6th man to the 5 1/4 man.
- People enjoy facebooking, blogging, tweeting and watching the game in HD on their flat screen while listing to the game with their surround sound systems.
-People don't have to fight the game day traffic coming in to and leaving Rupp arena.
- People can have their own food and drinks (hard or soft).....
- Now a days, instant replay/tivo/dvr has ruined people wanting to see the 'Big Play' over and over. Not to mention keeping up with real time stats. And while the cell service is better at Rupp than what it used to be... if it's not the fastest possible, then it is junk.
- Who wants to go watch a player that is only gonna be there for 1 year. :lame: (This was actually said on the show last night)
These are just some of the possible reasons why UK's attendance is down.

Lex traffic near game time is hell, non-student tickets are pretty damn expensive, and pretty much everything you just said. Hard times, people don't want to spend large amounts of money to see UK destroy a D2 team in mid-November. Attendance will be fine when we play stronger OOC teams and begin SEC play.

Its pretty simple.
It cost to damn much to go to a game.
If you want to spend a 100 bucks just to sit at the very top of rupp, then you might get in.
