Belfry @ Bourbon County (State Semi Finals)11/29/13

1. In general there is no difference in the eyes of the KHSAA. If a kid transfers 15 miles from Lexington to Paris or a kid transfers 5 miles from Williamson to Belfry... the process is still the same.

2. It is a moot point anyways since Belfry doesn't have transfers. I can't speak with certainty, but my inclination is there is not a single player on Belfry's roster who not only has been at Belfry their entire HS career..but also attended Belfry Middle School.

3. Fairview was in trouble for a kid who transferred from another KY school and was held back and played 5 years in HS.. had nothing to do with transfers from out of state in the KHSAA eyes..and even if it did... Fairview's critiques from other schools were players who transferred during their HS career..once again...not a single player from Belfry meets that criteria. You ever figure out what position the kid from Scott County plays that transferred this year?

Good point and I shouldn't have cried foul, just trying to say that the other guy was referencing the abundance of Belfry players who are from WV. I played with a couple in college and at all star games, and they all listed WV as their home, so its nothing new to me.
Just throwing this out there only because someone asked me...any change to the time of the game?

Not that I know of...
Also, someone mentioned the visitor seating is a little sparse... any idea if BoCo plans to bring any temporary seating in?

Have a feeling this will be standing room only.

Very glad I get to make the trip up for this one. Think it will be a classic!
Gonna go with standing room only
I think we should let the kids set this game out and let the fans play . Turn it into the al bundy bowl

Thanks
There is a little extra seating in the North Endzone, but not enough to make a difference. This will be standing room only, and I would not be surprised if Belfry brings more people than Bourbon judging from the last few weeks.
Doesn't matter how much visitor seating they have when it is full the Belfry faithful will start filling up the home bleachers..

Wonder how many west Virginia license plates will be in the parking lot?
Football Junky Wrote:Wonder how many west Virginia license plates will be in the parking lot?

About the same amount that's gonna be in The parking lot in Bowling Green..
Good luck Belfry!! Hope you get your ticket to Bowling Green!!!
On a positive note, I do like the turf at Bourbon. The big BC looks sweet but I love the words along the side. I don't know what they even say but it looks cool lol

We will let you be the person to go to the parking lot
and see how many West Virginia license plates there
are and after you get them counted have your PA
announcer to let us know how many West Virginia
plates are parked there, that way we will all know for sure !!

:lmao:

EXCELLENT RETORT! I don't care who you're for, that was very good! I think it's a 6 pointer.

The field is incredible! Why they didn't update the seating to go with it is baffling.
The words on the sides say Adena Springs Field. That is a horse farm that donated a lot of money for the field.
It will be flat out smash mouth football , with the team coming wanting it more winning this match. Pond creek nation will all be out showing there pirate pride supporting this great football team ! Cannot wait . HAIL BELFRY

I'd say ALOT!
Belfry High School is 1.7 miles (3 mins) from E. 2nd Ave. Williamson, WV.
Does BC have fans that live more than 3 mins away from BCHS????

I was just about to say the same. Interesting that in KY they are still allowed
to hold a game at BC with the extremely small amount of seating available.
I dont have a clue how the bluegrass playoff rules work when it comes to
facilities, but in WV, stadiums are specifically checked and approved of 1 week in advance....If a facility isnt up to par (whether its seating, field condition, parking ,etc) the game is moved to the next best stadium within a reasonable distance of the "host" school. Seems like temporary bleachers would be the best fix here, but without a doubt, Pirate fans will stand the sidelines if it comes down to it lol.

Belfry has been known to take over home seating as well. If you aren't purchasing a reserved seat and are a Bourbon fan I would get there early. Breathitt County has learned this lesson the hard way.
I don't know this for sure, but I thought reserved seating was not available in playoffs. That would be more of a question than a statement.
I plan on being there by 5:30

We'll it sounds like they should be going to school in WV then, if they live there. Wonder how many kids commute?

What is a pond creek? Is it a pond or a creek?

KHSAA says that the playoff games "shall be played at sites that meet any adopted required field standards approved by the Board of Control". However, I don't think they go through as rigorous of a process as happens in WV. No doubt Belfry will fill their side and stand wherever they have to. Does anyone know how much room the press box has and if it has space for a visiting radio crew?

My junior year was at Williamson High (the final year of the school as it consolidated). In that final year, I'd say we had (at the least) 10-12 kids,
3 in my class, transfer across the river. A lot of transfers occurred though in
the middle school years...primarily as they became freshmen. When I was
in 5th grade, WHS lost a ton of incoming freshmen to transfers.

Pond Creek is a creek that winds for miles through the whole area that is considered "Belfry". It eventually runs into the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River. You will see the representatives of "the creek" out in force Friday Night. The Pond Creek Nation loves their football and they love to travel especially on Thanksgiving weekend.
