Bowling Green @ Graves County
#1
Well, little brother finally made it to regional finals. I am happy for the program. I am glad to say that I picked this early and you can check out my past posts to see. I truly hope that everyone (businessmen included) look at this as I have for the past few years. I always said it would be great if both of our teams were successful. Not only for the fans but for the county as a whole. I want you to look at the traffic in Mayfield on Friday. We had people from Bowling Green and Louisville here spending money in our community, at our restaurants and gas stations. We will have that again this Friday. That is why our businesses should support these two schools.

Now back on point. Bowling Green, probably the best team in the state, comes to Mayfield to face the Graves County Eagles. What do you all think about this one. I think the Eagles should be able to give them a game for at least a half or so.

Graves County is good but Bowling Green is on another level. BG by 14.

54-20
#6
BG can not be touched

Bowling Green 42 Graves 14....Graves is in for a long nite.
#9
All BG all day
#10
Graves is in a no lose situation. If they win they will be crazy proud. If they lose they will be regional runners up for the first time in school history.
#11
Oh, and I forgot they get 1 more night of great money from gate.
#12
Bowling Green 49 - 14
#13
Bowling Green by two touchdowns
#14
BG rolls 49-0.

Its a great experience all around, and great for our community as a whole, no matter the outcome. It would take a monumental effort from Graves but BG is on a whole other level than any team Graves has faced. I am afraid it will be ugly but I am pulling for Graves no matter what.

Good to see little brother getting into uncharted waters. They will have to play a complete and solid game this week. They will also have to hope for some help from the Purples, in the form of turnovers. They will have a rainy day, which could help slow the Purples. I checked the teams Lit ratings. I think GCHS has the lowest rating of any teams still alive except for 1a.

BG will end this game early. Too much Purple here.

There have been reports in the past of highly localized precipitation events around Graves County's field. Never showed up on National Weather Service radar.

Can anyone tell me about Graves County's field? They beat a Warren Central team that scored 69 points on Highlands and were playing very good football. I was told the field had a lot to do with the game. Central folks said it was like a plowed field. Their QB was hurt for the 2nd year in a row. What's the story? I'm not too worried because both teams have to play on the same field, but it could slow us down a little. Luckily, our team is very balanced and should be able to adjust. They certainly got our attention after last weeks game. Most thought Central would roll, but Graves is no cupcake, no matter what computer says they are. They are playing for their 1st regional title in school history and they should be very proud. They are a dangerous team that we will not overlook. I will amend my 1st prediction and say Bowling Green 35-10.

Graves will get destroyed I assure you. Their QB isn't ready for the spotlight. I have watched him couple times and he wilts under pressure. BG too athletic

Graves Co has a very nice facility and is typically in great shape. After playing at WCentral last year, even in August, I'm surprised they're complaining about anyone elses field. It's far from a plowed field. It's been played on alot this year by the elementary, middle school and JV teams along with the HS, so, it may be a little worn down, but, I assure it'll still be in better than average shape.

Graves should look at this game this way "If you can beat this team, you will win the championship". Graves players and coaches should treat THIS game like the state game. If they can get a crazy atmoshpere to go along with a muddy field, stranger things have happened.

I'm taking BG, begrudingly, 39-0.

In 1990, Graves played then state No. 1-ranked Bowling Green on a rain-soaked muddy field on a cold miserable rainy night. Check those results. That was Graves first EVER playoff game. Amazing how things seem to have come full circle. Pulling for the Eagles to pull the upset.

I do think Graves Co will move the football against BGs defense. There OL matches up very well with BGs DL and they have some solid, quick backs that will hit the holes hard and move the chains. I think Puckett is a very underrated QB. He throws a nice ball, has pretty good velocity on the ball, is accurate and can tuck it and get you yards with his legs when he needs to. I also like the WR corp. A couple of kids with good size that go up and out jump and out muscle you for balls Plus, GC has a kicker capable of making 40-45 yd FGs to help them get points on the board. GCs D was solid against WC last week, but, I think alot of that is due to the Wing T offense that WC runs. GC is very familiar with it and runs that themselves, at times, although, have opened it up more from the shotgun this year. I think BG has a few to many weapons for GC, but, do expect it to be a decent ballgame.. When all's said and done, I say BG 49 GC 28..

As far as the field goes, we just played them last year on that field and it didn't slow us down any. Well, that is until our jv got in. I really think the Eagles will come out fired up for a bit. I just don't think they can come near matching BG. I hope they can but I don't see it. I don't see a very big crowd either with rain expected.
#25
Ur crazy.. ur liable to see kids wiith their shirts off at this game... rain or shine I assure u it will be packed at eagle field.. place will be nutzzz.....last time I walked across the field the grass was a lil long.. but very nice new facility..
#26
You really think the fans will weather the storm. I expect the crowd to be down for this one and ours.
#27
You would think that playing for their first region championship against the #1 team in the state would be enough to get the fans out. I expect the Graves County fans to be rabid. There's nothing better than the atmosphere of a regional championship. Looking forward to making that long drive this Friday.

I'm no player, but when I walked across the field last Friday it seemed fine to me. Central's always seems fine to me as well, so I guess if you felt Central's field was in poor shape last August, then maybe Graves' was as well, who knows.
