Ok it's basically the same thing as every year the talk around Corbin is the Jewell show is over!! I heard he may stay on the staff as a assistant but not the head coach. Has anyone else heard this and have you heard of a possible replacement?

I think he's ran his course and needs to be gone!! He took a very talanted team into Wayne co and got blanked. Not taking anything away from Wayne's defense but it's not hard to stop a team that runs the same play over and over. He was out coached just like he was a month before when Corbin was running Wayne over 300 + yards in rushing turned into - yards that's not a talent issue but a coaching issue. He makes ignorant decisions just like at bell 4th & 2 with 1:30 to go in the fourth quarter on your own 30 he chooses to go for it???? The kids don't like him the parents don't like him he has no personality and to be honest with you he's very hard to even speak too. If Corbin wants to win the easy games and get out coached win the rubber hits the road then they have the right man!!! I hope this rumor has some truth to it. I sure am sick of the Steve Jewell show. We have a good feeder system multiple state titles in middles school and can't compete for a district in highschool. He has been here too long and his style is well known reminds me of Dave Mitchell in the old camper days!!!

I am hearing Coach Mills is interested along with Dudley Hilton. Greer is running his game for these Coaches. Job not even open and we are hearing this.

I agree for once. Jewell will be back. Kids must like him, he had over 70 kids on team from what I understand.

Jewell is the Defensive Coordinator. He has as much to do with the offense as you and I.

He's also the head coach!!! If you think he has nothing to do with what the game plan your wrong. I have never been a Jewell fan I was at Corbin before he got the head coaching job and nobody cared much for him then either.

He had 70 kids playing most of which are freshmen and sophomores. He has ran off a lot of talent if you know anybody who's played at Corbin the last five years they will tell you the same. The kids like most of the staff Willard, creekmore, and mouser are all liked but when it comes to Jewell the kids don't have a good relationship with him.

I guess he had nothing to do with the call Friday night to attempt a field goal down 21-0 inside Wayne's 20? We had made one field goal all year!! I just think it's time for a change!! Corbin has a rich football tradition and I don't see that kind of spirit in our kids.

It was your all only chance to even have a chance at scoring Big Red. Coach Jewell cant coach a mediocre team to a win against a team like Wayne County. I pointed out to you in a earlier thread that you all had not played anyone and that you played your absolute best game you could have the first game against Wayne. The spanked your #$(# now go home and shut up. Get behind your boys and tell them to get in the weight room and get prepared for next year.

Says a guy who's team got spanked Friday night too!! Lol
I'm not making excuses for that beat down believe me. The difference was Wayne made changes to prevent Corbin from gaining over 300 yards on the ground and Jewell and the crew did nothing to prepare the kids. That is very obvious by looking at the scores in the two games. You can have Jewell up there in Johnson central since you like him so much. Your still a troll and a Corbin hater!! I have not once went on your post and said a word not that I didn't want to but I have way more class then u!! So wait another nine months and you can go back to working the old chain gang as your boys try to get better.

I have heard that he may be interested in getting into Administration. I could see him getting an Asst. Principal position, if he is qualified, and if one opens up. One opening up may depend upon who gets the Principal job at the high school.

Greer was pushing Dudley's name after last season, but I just don't see that ever happening. If Coach Jewell does decide to step down, whoever gets the job will also have to be good in the classroom, and I doubt if Hilton would be that interested in going back into the classroom at this point of his career.
What does Mills teach?

Does he have his principalship?
Im not teacher and dont know the ranks for it but you have to do more than just be a teacher.
That principal job is going to be very interesting. I wasnt surprised to see Faulconer leave. Seems he was out of place. Im assuming the new principal will have a lot of pull in which direction the school will go.

I dont see Dud ever going to Corbin. That would be more far fetched than him going to coach the Cowboys.
I wouldnt trust Greer

I would love to see a new coach!! I think the current staff has some good people on it but that doesn't always translate into good coaches. The main problem is that the kids don't believe in Jewell. The kids have a good relationship with all of the other coaches just he will not relate with the kids. Whatever happens I hope Corbin gets a new head coach next year. Dudley is probably going to Whitley so that takes his name out of the mix. I think we need to look outside of the redhound ring and get away from the buddy system that's for sure.

Doesn't sound like there is any merit to this rumor.

You must not attend any Corbin football games. I've been watching Corbin since powers was the coach. It has absolutely nothing to do with what kids play. I think Jewell does a pretty good job getting the right kids on the field but when it's crunch time he's like a deer in the headlights. Corbin cannot beat anyone unless they have them out skilled. This rumor is going thru the faculty at the highschool so I assume where there is smoke there is fire. Jewell is a good teacher and probably a good person it's just hard for kids to build a relationship with him. I really don't see them firing him he will have to resign. I hope Jewell the best just want the pride and tradition of Corbin football back not as a parent but as a fan!!!!

The pride and tradition go way way way back. It all started in 1916 the Corbin railroaders went to play their first game in pineville we lost 142-0 and William Cadle a Corbin player actually passed away due to injuries he substained in the game. Our first win was two weeks later against barbourville baptist institution. In 1929 Nick Denes came to town that's what started Corbin's tradition. Then along came the selvey's, birds, Roy Kidd, and about 30 other all Americans over the next 30 years!!! Which led to 1939 undefeated, 1955 state champs, 1960 undefeated, 1962 state runner up, 1976 state champs, 1980 state Champs, 1982 state champs, 1990 runner up, 2002 runner up. Usually about 15 years from one state championship to the next in the down years. It's been 31 years since we put any paint on the wall and as long as the Jewell show is in town it will be another 31 years. We want to be respected again in the great state of Ky!! Teams don't fear Corbin the way they did before. If we were not winning titles we were still a tuff out and you could guarantee they wouldn't lay down for nothing!!!! Santa please bring us a new coach so we can start a new dynasty!!!

Theres not many schools in KY that can say anything close to that.
Alot of these "mountain powerhouses" today dont have half the tradition Corbin does.
