I miss the tradition of it being in Louisville, but will agree with posters that said the atmosphere is better at WKU. Also, the way they run it is pretty nice.
I would like to see it back in Louisville every now and then. I go back and forth on the rotation idea. I like being able to have a place that every year kids strive to get there. Like every kid grows up now wanting to make it to Rupp.
I just want to get a schedule to where I can start going every year again right now haha. Gonna have to miss this year most likely, unless the Panthers are playing Friday at 11:00, then I would crawl to BG!

I love it in BG and hope it is there for 30 years. I paid my dues traveling to state title games at EKU, Lexington and Louisville as my team has made it to the game more often than not. Its time to let us out west enjoy the shorter drive for about the next 30 years. Thats fair

Belfry still had a farther drive than you all have ever had. Either Louisville or Bowling Green. From Mayfield to Louisville is around 3 hours 15 min. From Belfry to Louisville is 4 hours. Mayfield to Bowling Green is probably 2.5 hours. Belfry to Bowling Green is 5 hours. You've paid no more dues than anyone else.

I've attended the state finals in Louisville numerous times (both Fairgrounds and Papa John's).
I've attended the state finals in Lexington (1976).
I've attended the state finals in Richmond (1974 and 1978).
I've attended the state finals in Bowling Green (1975 and last few years).
Bowling Green does the best job; no contest.
And Nashville is less than an hour away.

Papa johns and WKU stadiums are too big and you lose the high school atmosphere in empty stadiums. Would love to see it go to smaller venues like Richmond or Georgetown. Only game when it might not be big enough is for 6A.

Last season the 6A title game had an attendance of 7400. In 2011 it was 6900. EKU holds 22,000. You wouldn't even have to use the visitor's seating for that number.

I vote for Richmond

Personally, I think we'd all like to see it at UK, but as someone mentioned, its not possible with grass. I dont think its a good ideal to have it at WKU though.
Lville sucks, we'll just leave it at that.
WKU is way to far out to have it.
If anything, we should rotate locations.
Personally, id like to see the state title games be played at Gtowns Toyota Stadium.
Its turf, and can expand to hold 20000, which is just under what WKU holds.
How about split venues. The most attendance gets the larger stadium. I am talking about Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville. Both are in the heart of Ky. and equal distance for everyone and have nice stadiums that would make for a great playoff atmosphere as there would not be more empty seats than full ones as there is now.

I can remember a 6A game back in 2004 the last time Belfry won it all. I stayed for the 6A game and it was in Papa Johns. It was Male vs. Trinity and it was packed and looked like a JUCO game. Not an empty seat in the place. One side was Purple (Male) and the other side was Green (Trinity). It was a College atmosphere...it was insane

Never had thought of Georgetown College I think it would be a great venue. Lots to do in Georgetown and great football facility.

In 2004 St. Xavier beat Scott County in the finals. You must be thinking about 2002. That was Trinity and Brian Brohm against Male and Michael Bush. Even that matchup only drew 20,500. With the current districting you won't see a Trinity/St. X/Male final.

EKU. Turf field, at least one turf practice field, and all the seating on one side basically would make it more enjoyable, realistically. Parking is there, all the amenities such as rooms, etc are all within reasonable travel distance, and being so central to the majority of the population, you would likely have a ton of daytrippers. It is 100 miles from Louisville, roughly the same from Northern Kentucky, and using the BG parkway, you can make it from Etown to Richmond in 2.5 hours, max. I think EKU is the best of all worlds. Too big at the pizza box, too big at Commonwealth Stadium.

Once again I would like for anyone to explain how eku is any more central than wku. Hence the names both start with either eastern or western for a reason. I explain already it is every bit of a 5 hour drive at lite speed from Mayfield. You can add another 45 minutes from Fulton Co. Louisville was central but they don't want it.

Do we all agree it should rotate atleast every 1-2 years between 2-4 locations?

It is a long trip from Belfry to Bowling Green, but I have never not enjoyed the trip. Even on the way back home a few years ago when it snowed terribly and took me over 9 hours to get home. The last 30 miles where tough and to tell the truth..scary. But still loved the trip even though we lhave lost every trip. I left enjoying myself. That said, I don't care a bit to travel it again. But I do get a little upset at some saying "awe, we deserve the short drive and it's only fair" CRAP. Very few teams have drove as far as the eastern Ky brethern.

I never said wku was central. The only central spot is Louisville. Lexington isn't central. It's funny you say that about eku because around here people say the same about wku. It don't really matter what any of us think because it won't change for many years.

Google maps and mapquest are great tools for some of the posters to use before you cry about a long drive. Again, no other fan base has had a longer drive than the teams that have been blessed to go from Eastern Ky. Or tougher drive for that matter. I can almost guarantee that our drive over long winding mountains that you think will never end is pail in comparison to those little flat roads you all ride on. inglepar

I've lived in both the mountains and the flats. I like the flats a lot more. Like I said, it don't matter it aint gonna change.

How is Louisville central and Lexington not? Louisville is at one of the further tips of Ky. Lexington is atleast closer to center. Just saying.

There will never be an acceptable "central." That's why if we have a roving set schedule in 2-4 locations we will all be better off!
For poops and laughs Georgetown, WKU, Centre, EKU. Throw other suggestions into the hat.

Centre is the most centrally located college, but how big is their stadium. I honestly don't even know if they have one. I also like the Georgetown suggestion. Atleast a rotation every so often. Again, no complaints from me on WKU. I always like the trip.

Not near enough parking !!!

Centre Stadium not big enough and can't add bleachers on other side because it bumps right next to road.

Plenty of room on the track for additional bleachers at Centre and just as Georgetown did for the Bengal camps they'll be able to provide adequate parking.
C'mon 64b&g glass is half full . What are your pick fields then?

Correct, it is the geographic center of the state of Kentucky, hence the name "Centre". There is a marker on the middle of campus. The stadium, while nice, is nowhere near big enough to handle the games. At least it was not when I went back for homecoming a few years ago.
