No shame in giving up 20+ to Belfry at Belfry.

What a comment to make. The good teams you have played you lost to. Plus Belfry would beat you also. I get tired of hearing how great the caliber of competition is you play compaired to us but hears one thing to think about Halan Co., Belfry, the Indiana team and the Canadian team havent lost any more games after the JC game?

Highlands has the right to blow smoke because we havent beat them yet .But you don't.

"...The good teams you have played you have lost to."
Not really. CCH has beaten both Dixie and Henderson (both 6A teams) on their fields. Both of which are ranked higher than either Harlan or Belfry. Also beaten Beechwood and Conner badly-both of which I could very easily argue are as good, if not better, than Belfry or Harlan.
Look- its no debate who has had the tougher schedule. What's debatable i, what do those schedules mean to this game and have they prepared them in some way better or worse for the other team?
I look for a slobber knocker of a contest. Wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

Good luck to Johnson Cent.. ...I was just saying the Northern Kentucky schools are a little bit better than the Eastern Kentucky schools. I hope Joihnson Cent wins 4A but how many times have we been on here and seen that at the end of the night a Northern Kentucky school has beaten an Eastern Kentucky school in the playoffs? Cov Catholic has played better quality of teams that all I was saying. And this game will be close I dont think either team will score in the 40 point range.

When was the last time a NKY team beat Belfry? 2000 against Ryle?
The fact remains your better teams in EKY typically don't play NKY teams due to geography. The only times I can remember Belfry playing a NKY team over the past decade has been wins versuses NewCath, Cov. Holy Cross, and the best Lloyd Memorial team of the past 20 years. There simply aren't many 3A NKY teams.
The Best EKY teams in recent years are Belfry, JC, Bell, Harlan County, and Breathitt County. To be honest outside of those the drop is fairly significant.
Bell County has had some battles over the years with Highlands but they have all been in the Semi-Finals. Bell equated themselves well. When classes changed Bell's hurdle was Boyle County and now Central. You simply dont see NKY teams come up.
Breathitt is in the same boat as Belfry.. no 3A NKY teams to meet in the playoffs. They have made short work of weak NKY teams though in the regular season as well anyone should.
Harlan County for all intents of purposes are new-money in the EKY hierarchy, They have a pair of Semi-Finals losses to Highlands and Cooper respectively. Cooper game was close and the Jags were the favorite entering.
Johnson Central is your only other perennial top Mountain team and they have fared well versuses CovCath. Noone is beating Highlands (NKY or across the state) so that really can't be used to justify regional strength.
The only place where NKY teams have sustained perennial dominance over EKY schools is in 2A. NewCath and Holy Cross have feasted on teams like Somerset, Pburg, and Corbin over the years.

The scoring margins in these match-ups have generally been pretty sizable too, regardless of which team has won. Covington Catholic is good enough to beat JC if everything goes there way tonight, but it will be a mild upset if they win. The team that JC faces tonight will be better than the one that was blown out by Highlands earlier in the season, but shuffling lineups as injured players return often has a way of throwing off a team's chemistry.

What makes you think they are going to be better than when they faced Highlands? Are you just preparing for a reason if JC does get beat tonight? Cov Cath is with out their best player tonight (Dressman) who played in the Highlands game, and nobody is sure how many of the injured are back. From what I am hearing, still players who are not back or playing hurt. If the QB plays he will not be at top form having only played very little last week and only throwing a couple of passes.

Aside from Dressman, I understand that Covington Catholic is healthier than they have been in quite awhile. Their starting quarterback even threw 4 or 5 passes with no incompletions against Rowan County last week. Like I said, when players coming off of injuries are inserted into the lineup late in the season, it often causes chemistry and timing issues. I think that you are being a touch over sensitive. If anything, I am making excuses in advance for Covington Catholic. If you want to read some real excuses, go back and review all of the excuses that Highlands fans made after the 'Birds gave up a state record 918 total yards against Warren Central. I can imagine the excuses had Highlands actually lost that game. nicker:

Sensitive? I just asked why you think they will be better and then made a joke about if JC loses (which I do not think they will), do not see how that is being sensitive. And facts in the WC game where posted, and if you want to take them as excuses go right ahead. It was a very entertaining game but those in attendance knew what players were on the field for Highlands. The D that people saw against Elder will be the team probably on the field tonight and for sure next week. Why does everybody think the HHS fans are upset about a record set on them for most yards? I have never heard one fan make a single comment about it. I know JC fans see those yards and are salivating to play HHS thinking that is the D they will see on the field. Just keep thinking that.
