Johnson Central vs. Covington Catholic 4A playoffs

Bob Seger Wrote:It won't matter when it comes to JC. I think most of you Nky fans are lulled to sleep thinking JC can't throw the ball. I hope you all continue to live in that little world, because they can indeed. They simply have not had to. Has everyone forgotten the game a few years ago when JC almost beat HHS? It was the pass that was JC's weapon and element of surprise...Matney has been able to live in a perfect world this year in that he has not had to show anything at all. Unless JC has to reveal anything against CovCath, all 12 game films of this year will be almost useless.

You know very well if JC has to go to the pass against CCH or HHS it is because they are in trouble. They are lucky if they throw 6 times in any game this year, that does not make them prepared and leads to bad things like the dropped pass in the game you mentioned. It also does not make them a balanced offense which i saw mentioned twice this year. JC's bread and butter is running up the middle just like they will see on the tapes. That is like
Highlands fans telling you after watching their tapes that they won't throw the
ball against JC.

Ill take the Eagles by 17! Very similar Cov Cath team compared to last year, however JC is heads and shoulders above where they were this time last year!

I think Johnson central is lot more fiscal than any team cov cath has played this year,

I am sure there are a few teams that would disagree with this claim. JC may be a solid team, but Cincinnati Moeller is very good.

They may have played in the black all year, but a new season starts Friday.

C'mon guys...the NKY football gurus can't be fooled. Quit trying to fill their heads with that fancy-smansy throwin gobbledygook. Everybody knows that us hill folk wouldn't know nuthin bout that kind of newfangled offense. Heck, we don't even try to do anything halfway fancy like run outside them there tackles. We just run it up the gut every time. We ain't got no shot against them city slickers nohow. I hear they gots runnin water and such...and they even wear shoes when they play. I'm just glad we get to play at home this week. Cuz it shore would take an awful long time to get way up north in a wagon train.

Take it easy on us boys. After all, we're just simple country folk round these parts.

We're such a small place.... Johnsonville doesn't even show up on a map.

And please don't be skeered when you hear the "Banjer" music playin' when you make the turn off the interstate.

Cov Cath has played some physical football teams this year. JC is always physical, but I am not sure I say that they are at the same level of Moeller. Same level of some of the other teams that CCH has played and higher than others. Friday night will clear things up.
#42
You think JC will be the most "physical" team CCH has played all year? That's cute. Call me when JC plays anyone remotely close to Moeller.

That's nothing. It's that damn Crazy Train that scares us. Fifty times a game. It wasn't that great in 1981.

Trust me.... JC has the best pre-game and in-game music in the state.

Sounds like a song request to me!

Covington Cath 14

Could be a running clock 3rd qtr :welcome: from 64SUR northern Kentucky :biglmao:

What worries me is the playoffs are here and this is where we will see the real athletics!
#48
Best part of the playoffs....

"The playoffs are coming" ..... When the real "Athletics" come out.

And no P*dun*er.
#49
Golden Eagles by 21 at home.
#50
By far a very confident bunch of JC fans and supporters. I think it's great, the shoes normally on either CCHS or HHS' foot.

I hope for the Eagles sake they do win. However, do not take the Colonels for granted. They are from from the beat down team people have portrayed them as. Good luck to JCHS!

This game is very simple to predict. It will be about the line of scrimmage. If JC on offense can make the blocks up front and run the ball and control the clock they will be hard to handle. If JC can get pressure on the CC QB and keep him running, JC will be hard to handle.

Lets say each team stops the other strength, then JC can throw the ball and very effectively compared to past years, we just have not had too yet. Can CC run the ball if the pass is not there?

The final issue is JC does have a kicker that can pin CC deep on kickoffs and can score from anywhere indisde 50 yds. If JC gets in CC terriotry and stalls they should leave with points.

It will be ground and pound vs air raid, but each team may have to get out of their comfort range to win this one. One thing is for sure, we will see alot of offense and scoring in this one!

Don't worry. The stage has already been set. If we lose, it'll somehow be painted as a huge upset by those adorable NKY underdogs. If we win, all we did was beat up on a team just decimated by injuries, so bad they could barely field a team at all out there, and of COURSE we should have won against that. Gotta love it.

If I was JC I'd rather win and enjoy the consequences  !

You don't have to make excuses when you win, that's the truth.

Just remember the winner gets the Birds just another bump in the road to state!:ChairHit:

That's right guys. Don't worry about Johnson Central and start worrying about Boyle County or Lexington Catholic. I wouldn't even watch film if I was Covington Catholic or Highlands.
#59
Johnson Central seems to be the real deal this year, much better than last year IMO. They have a very balanced backfield, physical on both sides of the ball and have the ability to score any time they cross the 50 (maybe not anytime, but most) with their kicker. JC WINS this game.

I remember the 2006 game.... the pre-game thread on "that site up north" was epic.

But thank God, I've been set free from the bondage that held me back when I was a "prep".
