Unbelievable game. Mr. Football candidate Nacarius Fant catches a 13 yard touchdown pass from QB Devon Hayes on 4th and 11 with 30 seconds left in the game. Blackman is a big physical team. They brought 140 players. I'd say they have at least 5 D1 players on their squad and they played both ways. They must have really wanted the win. 140 players on your team and 5 or 6 of them played both ways. Their QB is a 4 star 6'4" athelete with 15 offers. Their LB has signed with Alabama. Athletically, one of the best teams I've seen. Their problem was they were cocky and undisiplened. They had 6 unsportsmanship penalties. To be honest, they looked like a bunch of thugs. They thought they were going to come in here and walk all over us and that did not happen. The Purples defense bent but did not break and kept us in the game. The best team we have played since the 2010 Trinity team that won the national championship in 2011. I have never been prouder of my Purples. If you get a chance, go to Hudl and watch Nacarius Fant's highlights. He's a special player. Thanks to all for supporting our team.

Awesome especially after thy were disrespected before the game

This one sounds almost as exciting as ours from last night.
#12
Fant does it again !
#13
I rarely say this - but congrats BG. Hope you all are enjoying your celebration of a huge win.

Blackman suffers controversial loss in Kentucky in 'disgraceful game'

BOWLING GREEN, KY. — Blackman coach Philip Shadowens called his team’s trip to Kentucky a “disgraceful game” Friday night.

A border battle between neighboring state high schools with no postseason implications sure had a playoff feel, as it turned chippy amid a string of personal foul penalties and controversial confrontations.

The result was a 26-25 win for No. 1 ranked Bowling Green (Ky.) High (9-0) over No. 4 Blackman.

“In my 20 years of being a head football coach and upwards of 240 games, I have never seen such a disgraceful job by officials,” Shadowens said. “We were flagged for 115 to 120 yards, and they were flagged for 5 to 10 yards all night.

“Both teams played extremely hard. It was a very physical game between two good football teams. Unfortunately, the officials had a huge effect on the game. It was absolutely disgraceful.”

BG took the lead with 35 seconds left on a 14-yard pass from quarterback Devin Hayes to Nacarius Fant, and linebacker Austin Jones intercepted the Blaze (8-2) on their final drive to secure the Purples’ 39th straight win.

“This game didn’t mean a lot toward our playoff picture, but it meant a hell of a lot in our hearts,” Jones said. “For all the seniors to go out with a big bang in the last game of the regular season means a lot.”

Blackman led 17-13 at halftime and 25-20 with 4:18 left after a 47-yard pass from quarterback Jauan Jennings to receiver Ronnie Killings. But BG’s Hayes connected with Fant for three receptions on the Purples’ winning drive, none larger than the TD pass to the Western Kentucky commit in the right corner of the end zone on fourth-and-11.

Jones and Fant both mentioned there were rumblings earlier in the week of Blackman players saying BG didn’t play physically.

“Earlier this week, we weren’t getting respect like we needed,” Fant said. “I think we’re a good ball team. I wouldn’t say we’re the best ever, but we’re a really good team. We put it all the line, and we made big plays.”

Added Jones: “They said they were coming in here, and that we didn’t play physical. We showed them what physical was.”

The Blaze went in front with 4:52 remaining before the halftime break on an 8-yard pass from Jennings to receiver Styles Corder. They tacked on 24-yard field goal by Blaine Burks with 23 seconds left to open a 17-13 halftime lead.

Things got chippy at the break as Blackman was called for a personal foul penalty after a Hayes interception. The Blaze also ran through the Purples’ entrance to the field before the game.

BG coach Kevin Wallace and members of the Blackman staff had words at halftime before heading to the locker room, and the Blaze were whistled for six personal foul or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the second half.

“It did affect the game,” Wallace said. “I’m just glad our guys kept their composure. We were the ones that kept our composure.”

“I was really surprised by those penalties,” Jones said. “That just shows you that we play with class, they don’t, and we’re better than them.”

Blackman outgained BG 328-197.

Jennings – a four-star prospect whose offers include Auburn, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Ohio State – finished 13-of-24 passing for 208 yards and rushed for 84 more with three total scores. Corder caught seven passes for 92 yards.

Congrats to BG for continuing to represent the state so well! Their nationally ranked position will remain intact!

Apparently, one of the Blackman players was flagged for bumping/shoving a ref coming out of the huddle. That's what seemed to get their coach really angry. Their coach insinuated the ref intentionally got in the player's path.

If I were BG, I would not go there next year, and pay whatever I had to pay to cancel it, as they have already pledged to show BG what it will be like to play with Tennessee officials running the game.

That is a situation where someone could get hurt or worse. Nothing good can come of it.

I agree. That whole bunch needs to be on a leash.

High school players and coaches have no business talking bad about other programs publicly. Coach ends up looking like a crybaby when they lose or a douche when they win.

We're there any ejections?

I've heard some coaches and seen some have problems with officials. But I've never seen a coach exchange words with another coach and insult the opposing team pre game. Then wonder why the officials throw the flags to keep it from getting out of hand. If the officials don't throw these flags after the TN teams antics things coulda got out of hand and someone could've got hurt. Great job by the purples for not getting sucked into the nastiness and playing above it.

Blackman's coach sounds like a turd and his team sounds like a bunch of thugs. Congrats to BG for representing the state well.

Blackman parent here -

Who said our coach insulted BG prior to the game? It's just not true. The kids were all talking smack on Twitter prior to our arrival with many of the BG fans tweeting things like "Buck Flackman" and "Just been informed that the Blackman b******s are officially in BG"

This is normal banter between students.

When our team came out on the field, people are saying we ran through the BG tunnel. NOPE. Our kids ran out in front of our fans and being unfamiliar with coming out on the opposite side as their sideline, they ended up mixed in with the BG kids who came out at exactly the same time. Check out the second video link below.

We play a spirited brand of football in Tennessee. Looked to me like BG doesn't play very good competition week in and week out like our team does and because of that, it appeared to me that they were not used to the physical style of play that Blackman brings. In TN, our band sometimes plays when the opposing team comes to the line. It's supposed to be disrupting. Our players are allowed to play a physical game and they are allowed to have emotions, and yes, they are generally allowed to be upset with a call they don't agree with.

The referees in this contest were obviously taken aback by the physical style of play we bring and they were surely intent on teaching our kids a lesson about how things are done in KY. It is undeniable that if these officials had not been so involved, the outcome of the game would be different.

That's not what is important though. For my son, the lesson was, sometimes life treats you unfairly. Its a good lesson to learn but not from an official whose integrity is questionable.

If you dont believe me, look at the following clip:

The first play is out QB getting hit out of bounds TWICE and no call. He was enveloped by BG players who said some bad things to him and our kids came to get him. We were hit with a flag for unsportsmanlike for talking back to the kids who were insulting him.

The next scene is immediately after that when we got back to the huddle and our TE left the huddle headed to the line. The ref was in the way and backing into him and he put his hand on the ref's shoulder and eased past him to the line. Boom. Another unsportsmanlike.

Anyone want to call BS on that?

Look, the Purples are a good football team and no one is criticizing the kids.

We had parents/fans removed from behind our sideline by the police for cussing/threatening our kids. The fans/students in the BG stands threw things at our players as they went in the locker room at halftime. Some members of our band received nachos and cheese through the air on their uniforms as well. BG was not a friendly place and the layout is also not conducive to competitive football as well.

First, you need a visitor stand. We had one fan on our side who was being loud and obnoxious and I'm sure BG had the same. The fans should be separated. As long as both teams sit on the same side, the ingress to the field should be timed so that both teams are not coming out together. The egress to the locker room both teams heading the same direction at the same time. Not a good idea either.

Don't be scared to come to TN to play next year. We will definitely provide a better and fairer environment so that the kids who win the game will not have to put an asterisk next to the W.

Check out the following clip as well.

You'll find most of the flags laughable unless you have on permanently purple shades.

Saying "Come on ref" to an official should not result in a 15 yard penalty. If anyone let this game get out of control, it was the officials.

Are you Commonwealth folk really going to accept this win??
After looking at the film, I haven't seen this much home cooking since Notre Dame played in Ireland.
This is/was horrible.
If I was Purple fan, I would just say OK, we voluntarily end the streak and start at zero.
Incredible.
These are just TWO examples.

*that's why at Alcoa, we learned from "glove gate" in Hoptown in 2004 to just win by 40 and the refs can't touch you.

I bumped many of my old KY boyfriends like Mel Turpin, Sam Bowie, and Tom Payne much harder than that and never had any flags thrown......tee hee hee

Poor little referee...tee hee hee

^^ Your first example shows a player stumbling on the side line into the opposing player. Good no call.

Your second example doesn't even show what call the official made. I would assume it was an unsportsmanlike conduct on the team in white. We do not know what was said on the field so how can we dispute it.

Congrats to Bowling Green on the win. Good luck in the playoffs.

Please tell me where this insulting began? Honestly, I've never seen the head coaches go out for the coin toss before. Is that a Kentucky thing? You can tell from both the upper and lower views that there is no insulting going on pregame. Please tell me the time stamps in the video evidence of these "antics" by the Blackman team. I'll give you a few to start with.

9:12 - Blackman QB scrambles and is hit not once, but twice, out of bounds, with the 2nd one pulling him down - NO Call. Somebody says something to him as he is walking back to the huddle and he turns around and says something back....flag on him! Play should have been late hit out of bounds, 1st and 10 Blackman around the Purples' 37 yard line...or even 3rd and 3 with a No-call or Off-setting. Instead it is 3rd and 18 at the Blaze 33.

Then, it gets even more comical. As the Blaze break the huddle, their TE "brushes" and tries to avoid the white hat. That brutality is another 15 for the Blaze....now 3rd and 33 from the Blaze 18.

That is a 45 yard swing. Bottom line is Blackman was driving to likely go up 2 scores with BG falling apart offensively and that was unacceptable.

10:34 - It "appears", they flagged #40 because #70 was holding onto his foot and #40 didn't lean over and say "may i have my foot back please" and just pulled it away. Flag flies....then somebody probably said something in reaction to the flag and out comes #2.

Do officials normally carry 2 flags?

I want to know what happened to draw the flag on their touchdown, and love the "no call" on the play at 11:15 where they are shoving #2's head in the dirt with a ref standing right there...oh yeah, they were driving to score, I forgot.

First off, Coach Shadowens is NOT a "turd" and his team is definitely NOT a bunch of "thugs". Again, please show me on the film. Who did show out like a turd is the BG head coach. He didn't go in at halftime immediately in order to go on quite the demonstrative rant, yelling and cussing at the head ref. Apparantly it worked, because they threw 6 in the 2nd half against the Blaze. Honestly, has anybody EVER seen a half of football where there is a 6-0 disparity in those type fouls?

^^The whole game is on film.
Just watch the white team get jobbed for 45 yards worth of penalties on a drive that would have put the Purples away.
I don't have to say anything, the film speaks volumes.
