how much did north laurel lose after last year
BellCOUNTYfaithfull Wrote:how much did north laurel lose after last year

I know they lost 4 starters. Allen went to Clay, the two guards and the other big man all graduated.
so i say there down

He is a nice player (should play small college somewhere), but needs guys around him. I've watched him for several years and he requires great guard play, which I don't see Harlan having. He isn't a banger either. I don't see Harlan having a banger to compliment him in the post. From what I can see and from what I have heard they don't have a point guard, which will be the single biggest problem for them. Good teams have to have someone to run the show or guide the ship, so to speak, and they don't have that. The bottom line for Harlan is Miller will post good stats against weaker competition on their schedule, but will struggle against the better teams. I don't see them winning more than 12 games. They will lose to Harlan County or Bell county in the first round of the district tourny.
Dont get too carried away pal, the Green dragons will be a pretty decent team. Miller will require a lot of attention inside because he is a legitimate athletic threat with size. This attention will leave a lot of open looks for the other 6'6" kid (Simpson) and he can shoot the ball fairly well and will make ft's when he is fouled. They also have the coach's son ( Drew Parks) that shoots pretty well from the outside and they also have one of the toughest sophomore kids in the Region mentally and physically (Caleb Hogue) at guard and he will be older and more mature this year. I believe they have a couple more athletic kids that will play so dont sleep on these guys, they will be very competitive if the Miller kid plays like a man inside..

I don't think he's supposed to be playing inside.
HDE Wrote:I don't think he's supposed to be playing inside.
If he doesn't get inside and go to work Harlan will
not be a very good team IMO. What u think HDE?
He was actually starting at the 3 during the summer for HCHS with Caldwell and Massey inside, but he did go back inside part of the time. I thought that year starting in the post for Harlan County turned him into a very good rebounder and improved his overall game. I believe he played guard in junior high and perhaps likes that better. I think the theory is that most 6-5 players at major colleges are guards. But, of course, Sanford and Thomas played a lot inside for Jones' teams in the 80s and 90s and made the move to guard full time in college.

Harlan lost four seniors and Johnson moved to Madison Central. They weren't real good this past summer, except for a couple of nice showings against Corbin at Pineville, so they are counting on Miller to make them a contender. I guess the idea is to make sure he gets the ball every trip and he can show that he can create his own shot and score more from the perimeter, kind of like Johnson did for them last year. As you said, Parks and Hogue had some nice games last year and are a year older and could make some big strides this year, especially if they've gotten a little stronger. Simpson and Piper are both good shooters, but everyone can't play the wings, so there will be some interesting decisions on who plays inside. I think it's usually better to fly under the radar when you've been down for a few years and not try to put any added pressure on yourself. Their schedule should help them gain a lot of confidence before the All A.
Miller is not a good enough shooter or ball handler to play on the perimeter. I think he drank the kool-aid and bought in to "hey, you come here and we will play you at guard", and it's just no going to happen. He will be playing the post and he will not like it, but there will be nothing he can do about it. You just can't believe everything someone tells you. With that said, I ask the question. What really changes for Harlan? You lose Johnson. You gain Miller. I don't think the gap between the two is all that significant. In fact, you could argue that Johnson is the better player. Miller has had the luxury of having a better team around him the last few years. Again, Harlan may see some improvement and I hope the do. But, their ceiling, in my opinion is somewhere middle of the pack in the region and maybe advancing to the semi-finals of the All-A region. I see them losing to Harlan County or Bell County in the first round of the district tournament.
I say no more..........Clay Co is a 8 to12 point better ball team then any other team in the region......I just recently watched a practice and their looking sharp.....when you got a 6'9'' kid running the floor and has shreded quiet some weight it's a good sign that they got the big man in shape......and Mcdaniel was Mcdaniel as always...shotting lights out......and the other three kids looked great too......If anyone has a solution for this tiger team you let me know now so I can shut you down quick!

You said in another thread you have seen everyone and got to watch a lot of teams practice. When have you seen Knox and Bell? And what do you think of them?
So they are already 10 points better than last year's team?
I don't know how you can judge that by watching one team practice. What about the other teams in the region?
I thought they had several playing football. Who were the five out there?
The one's playing football are role players......I'm just telling you guys what I saw that's it.....I'm not going go into details about football players...there playing football....i'm telling what I say the basketball players doing........Smile
I'm going give you guys some comfort.....clay is not going be on there "A" game every game......but I'm telling you what I've say during practices they look sharp and motivated and ready for another rupp visit.....As far as bell goes if potter not hott than there not going be hott........knox has a little more talent....but I love that matthew barger's game man......I just wish he had a little better attitude to complete his game b/c he can get to the rim anytime he wants in the 13th region!
Wolfe is a role player? I thought he was starting. I heard that Carr could start, too.
Who are the five out there starting then?
I can't tell everything now.........Smile
Wolfe is one of the most athletic players in the region If you ask me now.......HIGH FLYER
I'm talking about your main players here now.....Mcdaniel and Allen are going be 70-75% of clays offense......you guys know that.....I'm just saying that the rest of the starters will have different roles that they will play......
So, is Wolfe a role player or a starter?
I don't think you actually watched them or could name three besides McDaniel and Allen. Anyone could name those two.
So when have you seen Knox and Bell. Clay beat Bell on a last second shot last yr at Clay without Patterson. Now I am not saying Bell should be the favorite by any means but you keep avoiding the question
wolfe was starting when I watched them pratice yes HDE.....But I've always thought of wolfe as a role player that's all I'm saying.....
Clay's Starters McDaniel, Allen, Blake Smith, Trey Farmer, Wes Wolfe. House, Carr (if plays), Holland and Sams are reserves. McDaniel and Allen are different players than last yr, take that how you want. Smith and Wolfe can both touch above the box, and Farmer is truly a legend.
So by the sound of things, Clay should handle their district fairly easy? Jackson Co. being their best competition?
I seen game film on knox and bell.......actually I was at the game when clay played knox at knox central.......
agree EKUBUBBAWATSON........but I still think mcdaniel and allen will get there points
Wolfe was starting in practice during football season?

That was what I looking for Bubba. Thanks. That's the list I expected.

So you have went from seeing every team play this summer to actually going to all the team's practice to just seeing game film from last year. Basically you are clueless on Knox and Bell.
clay county still gonna go all the way.........

:biglmao:Confusednicker:Confusednicker:Confusednicker::biggrin:
I think clay will be good 10 points better then everyone else in the region is a joke and for me I think on paper that Jackson county has the best 5 starter in the region far as a team to me but what they don't have is the winning mentality they need that is the difference between them and clay when you put on the clay uniform something happens in your mind the Jackson and bells Knox or who ever you play they should not beat you that is what makes clay better then most school in the 13th region not the talent because I can look at clay 5 and then look and Jackson 5 and I would take Jackson 5 and not clay 5 but i would take 2 of clay 5 but I am looking at a team thing and not just one player that is just my opinion and we know that everyone has got one lol but this one is true for me
CC Tigers 4435 Wrote:clay county still gonna go all the way.........

You don't really have anything to back up your plus 10 statements because you know nothing about other region teams really
