Top Ten 1a games of the week 10-13-13
#1
Well it is the time that matters here in 1a football. We have already seen some of the games that will help shape the 1a playoffs. But the ones that were played thus far were pretty much already decided before they were played. There are some better 1a matchups this week. Without further ado, here is this weeks top ten:

1) #6 Paintsville @ #3 Fairview
This one is a hard one for me to figure here in the west. The reason being, I am not sure if Paintsville has their running back, back in this game. I know he was injured in the Pikeville game, but that has been a while. If they do, I like their chances as the Eagles still have not impressed me. The two teams are in the top ten at this point in the season that can only mean a great game. Paintsville comes in at 5-1 with their only loss being a close one to highly touted Pikeville. Fairview comes in at 6-0, with several by the skin of their teeth wins. Paintsville would love to vindicate their 20-68 trouncing at the hands of the Eagles last year. They would love even more to have the leg up in their district. This place should be rockin for the number 1 game of this week.

2) Paris @ #11 Frankfort
This should be another great 1a matchup. Paris would like to avenge their 0-38 loss at the hands of Frankfort last season. This would also give them the edge in the district. Paris comes in at 5-1 and looking better than last years team. Frankfort comes in at 4-2 and looks to be down from last year. Frankfort however has played the much tougher schedule of the two. This place should also be live for this one.

3) #5 Beechwood @ Bellevue
Bellevue gave Beechwood one heck of a game last year in this match up before finally faltering 20-49. They had this game in check until late in that match up. I personally think this is a team that is under rated. Beechwood is also in need of making a statement with their young team as they have to this point turned in, by their standards, a disappointing 500 record. Beechwood comes in at 3-3. Bellevue comes in just 1/2 game back at 3-4. This should be another great game. The winner of this will be in the driver's seat for their district.

4) #13 Ky Country Day @ Lou Holy Cross
These two private schools square off in a game that will most likely decide their district. KCD controlled this one last year at home and won by a margin of 22-7. They don't have the all everything qb back there slinging the ball around this year though. Both teams are very up and down this year and both enter with a record of 3-3. This one should turn in a great crowd as well.

5) Allen Cent @ Phelps
I know these two teams don't scream the kind of success that one would think of being top ten, but this is top ten games. Both of these teams need wins desperately. Allen Cent edged this one out last year 22-20. They enter this matchup with the only win on their record between the two. Allen Cent comes in at 1-5. Phelps enters the game 1/2 behind Allen Cent at 0-5. This could be one heck of a game and comes down to who wants it the most.

6) Ludlow @ Dayton
This one should be a great district game. Both of these teams could be playing for a 2 seed in their dist before it is all said and done. Dayton handled Ludlow in this one last year at Ludlow by a margin of 48-19. Both teams enter with a record of 2-4. This is a great opportunity for both teams here. Who will step up to the plate?

7) Jackson Prep, Tn @ Fulton City
After last nights game, I am glad that I could do something good for this Fulton City team by giving them a little recognition here. This is the second meeting of these two teams this year. Fulton won the first meeting by 12 points in Tn. They enter this one of a terribly harsh loss to a district foe, at 1-5. This is another Ky vs Tn matchup and we gotta support the Bulldogs here. The question is with only a 17 player roster, how much will losing two players to ejections hurt them.

8) Lynn Camp @ Berea
This one is another district game and a game of importance to these two teams. Lynn Camp took this one by the closest of margins last year at home by a score of 28-26. So that should indicate that this could be a great game. Lynn Camp comes in with a record of 3-3. Berea appears to be really struggling and enters with a mark of 1-5.

9) Eminence @ Bracken Co
This one proved to be a close one last year. Eminence was able to edge out Bracken Co at home 18-13. This year Eminence would appear on the surface to be a better team entering with a record of 4-2. Bracken Co comes into this one with a record of 2-4. That is why they play them on the field though.

10) #9 Raceland @ Nicholas Co
Nicholas Co would love to avenge a trouncing at the hands of the Rams, in Raceland last year by a margin of 12-60. The records and rankings would indicate that this should not be possible. The question is going to be will home field help Nicholas any and will the Rams still be hanging their heads. The Rams come into this one at 4-2. Their 2 losses have been by the closest of margins though. Nicholas comes in at 2-4.

Well that is it for this week. Toss it around and see what you think.

Looks rt. probably have Beechwood/Bellevue at no 2 though. The next 2 weeks will decide the Raceland district. Unless Paintsville beat Fairview. Question, what happens if this scenario plays out:

Paintsville, Fairview, and Raceland all beat Nicholas, BUT Fairview loses to Paintsville(Doubtful), Fairview Beats Raceland, But Raceland Beats Paintsville. That would make all three of them 2-1 in the District. What is the tie breaker? Over all record? The chances of this are very slim, but I was just curious as to what the toe breaker would be.

I guess Williamsburg and Hazard want make mysonis55 1A top 10 game of the week until we meet Hazard in 7 weeks :HitWall:
#4
Whats the tie breaker for a 3 way tie in a district? If Fairview, Raceland and Paintsville all manage one loss to one another yet all beat Nicholas, it would be possible to have a 3 Way tie at 2-1. Whats the tie breaker?

I have no ideal unless it't who score the most pts in a season and that doesn't sound fair either.Only person that would no is mysonis55 he's a research lab rat for Khsaa rules :truestory:
#6
I heard somewhere that it was points scored or records of common opponents
#7
I think it comes down to points scored and then points given up. I will see what I can find out.
#8
3 way tie breaker goes on points off the teams they got wins from except from district teams and if the two teams tie in the points then it goes to the head to head matchup.
#9
I could see where a 9 game schedule could hurt a team like somerset and Williamsburg with only 9 games :HitWall: :HitWall: :HitWall:
#10
I hate having 1 bye week, let alone 2.
#11
bac2369 has got it correct.
#12
Well it is Wed and I don't have any game to watch on Fri. That is alright, I will be at Talon Falls getting my scares there.
