shelbyvalley02 Wrote:McGlone and Haywood are both class acts and are both deserving of the award

When I ask im not saying their not a class act,but why are they more deserving
#17
Well I voted for him because I played for him and respect him and think that people really underestimate his knowledge of the game.

With the health issues and staff issues of the past few years I think they are doing a remarkable job this year with a team I thought would be lucky to be .500. Particularly defensively. I think with the talent in the younger classes the will be very good over the next few years.
#18
its all subjective is what im getting at. im concerned about the future. It looks like smith has basically taken over, and I have no confidence in him. you know what he did at fairview
#19
Oh yeah it's subjective and I'm definitely biased.

Smith will not be Ivan's successor.
#20
but hes ruining, I mean running things now. Very little imagination from offensive side
#21
I like Smith personally and as a position coach but the play calling has been questionable. The defense has been pretty good though.
#22
Its not personal. And ive been told hes a good position coach. Why dosent Evans run the offence
#23
One of McGlone's greatest attributes is probably his biggest drawback. That is loyalty. That's my personal opinion.

I'm going to vote for McGlone again now.
#24
Voted for him twice.
#25
1 McGlone 18678
2 Haywood 17367
#26

#27
:1:now
#28
It shows him 1% or so behind in second when I vote.

AARON SNYDER: Ivan gets your vote?
Aaron Snyder The Independent The Daily Independent Fri Oct 04, 2013, 06:00 AM EDT
ASHLAND — Ivan McGlone has been as much a fixture as the football itself on Friday nights for nearly 60 years.

More than half of the 75-year-old's life has been spent as Russell's adored head coach.

In that time, he's won 309 games — two of those concluded with the Red Devils as state champions.

In such a lengthy period in one position, which is often put under the microscope as every particle of every game is analyzed, surely enemies (beyond rivals) will be formed.

Ivan McGlone, that I know of, has no enemies. The respect level from fellow coaches, area football fans and former players is through the roof.

While health hurdles and personal-life losses have mounted in recent years for McGlone, his loyalty and dedication to the Russell program, its players and assistant coaches haven't wavered.

USA Today is conducting a poll for people to vote for the best high school football coach in Kentucky. There are eight elite selections, and McGlone (thanks to many of you reading this) is currently leading the way.

If you haven't voted yet, paste this link into your address bar: http://contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/bestcoach2013/ky.

The statewide poll will be closed on Oct. 8 at noon. The winning coach from each state will then advance to a regional round. Eight regional winners will be selected, based on votes, by Oct. 18. The final eight will compete in a national poll from Oct. 21-29.

the best coach will have to be Dale Mueller. he have won 87% of his games, and 11-2 at state. then Trinity coach, Trinity try to win the nation title on top of the state title. no matter who everyone vote on here for. these two are the best coaches in the state.
