East Ridge vs Fairview 9/27
#1
Fairview will host 4A East Ridge this Friday. Fairview's reg season win streak is still in good standing. I feel it will continue this week, East Ridge's 4-1 record has come against some weak competition, imo. The streak wont be in jeperody until Raceland hosts them in a few weeks, it may very well be continued that week if Raceland chokes again, but that discussion is for another thread. Until then...

Fairview 54
East Ridge 30

Fairviews defense better shore up its front. If not its goina get them into a problem its special teams cant handle. If anyone gets the hazard film, no one will kick to Fairview the rest of the year. Especially with an offense that struggles against good defenses.

Fairview wins this game by 3 tds.

Fairview rolls.

This will test how good of a team East Ridge really is, and could transform the Warriors into an actual football program. Best of luck to both.

Fairview at home wins again and their streak continues.

My question is, if you know a team is a bad 3a team and you want to build your schedule, why schedule them? I know there may be instances where that happens. We for instance have scheduled a bad 6a team. We always play that team because they are bigger and close to us, so we can get a little bit of competition close. They also have been pointing to this crop of athletes over the past few years and therefore, we expected more out of them. I know that there have to be teams in that area that are really good. Find them. There is Belfry, Somerset, Harlan County and others I am sure. Do like Beechwood and schedule teams that you know you will most likely get worn down and beat by but you will get the test. This only makes you better.

What about that statement sounds as though I in any way have a problem with Fairview? I simply do not understand someone stating that a team they are playing are that bad. I have said this same thing about other teams. The way to get better is to schedule tougher. While I agree, their schedule is better than last years, they still have a lot of work to do. You really need to go well over your head, even if it means taking losses. That will make you better. I used to get upset with our coaches for doing that very thing. The reason was, we would be coming into district play with 3 losses or so and no one would think we were any good. We would then face someone like Murray, who may be undefeated. We would then tend to beat them like 42-0 or so. After a few years I began to understand it. I guess some people don't understand constructive criticism. I would not take offense to someone telling me that my team needed to work on something. I would agree if that was the case. For instance if there was any way that we could change 2 of our district foes, I would be all for that. I would also like to see one other team changed in the nondistrict portion this year. The problem is though that they sometimes do have a fairly good year and they are a bigger school. That means sometimes they do help us. I for instance would love to see us schedule someone like Highlands or Central. I wished that we didn't loose Warren Central this year as well. Now, I am telling you right there that I would like to see some things change for us, so why is it that I am talking bad about them if I say that.

I have said the same thing about Raceland's schedule. The biggest problem around here, in neky, the only problem is travel. In the Raceland area, there is Fairview, Ashland, Johnson Central, Lawrence Co, Ironton, Russell. Those are traditionally the best teams in the area. Every year Raceland plays those teams, just adding ironton to replace the russell home and home series, when they decided not to renew the contract. With all of this said, Traditionally all of these teams are solid competiton. Granted, I believe Raceland and Fairview's sceduke could and should look something like this.

The district is the district so thise games are a lock. I propose Raceland look into this or something similar:

Ashland
Lawrence Co
Belfry/Johnson Central
Fairview dist
Paintsville dist
Russell/
Nicholas Co dist
Lex Christ
Somerset/Hazard
Greenup(traditional rivalry id hate to see go away)
