Can the bobcats pull off the upset?

1st test for the new staff 2 Breathitt. I think Bobcats lose a close game 35-28

If White gets the ball out a little quicker and the defense stays discipline they could win big, but Bourbon has a lot of speed. The bobcats looked pretty good last night. I thought the they tackled pretty good last night, but just got to the ball a little slow. I liked how the running backs finished runs real hard also.

Bobcats have a lot of heart. They will pull this one out!

Bobcats 28-27. Breathitt knows how to win.

Hard to say, Jackson Co. was so bad, Breathitt didn't get much competition from them. Bourbon's schedule so far, has been much tougher, with great results. Bourbon by 14.

Bourbon by 10.

who is Breahitt new coach and do they run the same style as there old coach?

We will learn a lot about both teams after this game. Neither team has had a true test yet and it will be a barn burner in jackson this Friday. I think that bourbon co has to be a slight favorite in this game even though it played in jackson. In my opinion if the bobcats can run the ball on bourbon defense and adam white can hit wes noble on some deep routes , and the bobcats defense can control the line to make bourbon one dimensional they can win this game. Bourbon has a lot of speed so it will be interesting how the bobcats defense is going to match up with offense. If the bobcats have a fast start and can jump up a couple scores early they can build some momentum they can win. If they come out slow and bourbon co gets up a couple scores they are beat. Heck it might come down to has the ball last cause both teams have high power offense.

If anything you would think Breathitt would not want to control the line of scrimmage. QB Pope is a bigger Richard Trent with a Cannon. I don't see Breathitt containing him, or Bourbons athletes.

Bourbon by 14.

I lost a lot of respect for Coach Hodge last week. I CAN NOT BELIEVE that he would run up a score on a team that just lost one of their coaches to a horrible motorcycle accident just hours before game time. I realize that Hodge needs the win, however running the score like that is insane. What goes around comes around!. I hope Breathitt brings it! I would love to see a good old fashion mountain butt whipping!

Breathitt co would still have to control the line. Running an or not you still want to control the line. You just mix it up with blitz and playing the line of scrimmage . But if bourbon co thinks they have a cake walk they are bad wrong. Bobcats don't lose many at mike Holcomb field.

I was at this game and hodge and his staff were class acts. Offering condolences and feelings for the other team and staff- several hugs before the game. The game still has to be played and asking anything less than the best from your team is not fair. They did not get a running clock until really late in the game- 4th qtr. They then subbed in sophomores and fresh that hadn't played. The game ended w a Lincoln score on a play that involved three holds against the bc jv. Two referees drew flags and didn't throw them. No coaches from bourbon argued. It was a good clean game that was tough early and ran away with from bourbon late. Best of luck
To both and the Lincoln family for their loss. Hopefully they can find some comfort in playing 2013 for coach Goodwin and his family. He loved Lincoln football!
Their kids showed great resolve.
In watching the rebels they looked very solid again w great performances by Robbins and Burke. Defensively they are getting better each week. I take them in a win vs crosstown rival Danville this week by two to three scores. Too
Many weapons on offense and the defense is improving each week. Good luck Rebs!!!

Not sure how big of an upset this would be since this is in Breathitt, and we all know how that goes.
Outside of Central, Bourbon Co. is probably the fastest team in 3A, so if speed kills, they will win this easy. If Breathitt can turn this into a ground and pound game thats won in the trenches, then Breathitt will win. Not sure what Breathitt's new offense looks like, but this will be a long night if they try to win through the air.

Wont be an upset at all... Breathitt is in a rebuilding year losing a talented Senior Class, their legendary HC, and Mr. Everything on offense.
I would argue that Bourbon is probably the 5th fastest team in 3A behind Central, Tilghman, and South Warren for sure. I also would possibly give the edge to Belfry who shocked Bourbon with their athleticism last year. Outside of Johnson and Hopkins noone really stood out for their speed and one of those guys has since graduated and the other struggled to get open.

I will post this week's 7 games tomorrow

I can't argue with 4th on your list, because I've not seen those teams play this year, and while i find it hard to believe you have either, I will take your word for it. Belfry was definitely not faster than Bourbon last year, much bigger, much stronger, and much more physical, but not faster.
I just can't wrap my head around *upsetting* Breathitt in Jackson. I have played there twice and watched a few, and lets just say there tends to be a 12th man that isn't necessarily the crowd.

Bourbon should be fine. They are a legit Top 5 3A team with a ton of experience and Breathitt is probably around the 13th or 14th best 3A team. Bourbon will be much bigger than them up front, more experienced at the skill positions, and faster.
Breathitt does have a WR in the Noble kid who may present problems for Bourbon. He's tall and has great hands. Expect a lot of deep balls to him. The one thing you can expect from Breathitt that they will do better than anyone else on Bourbon's schedule is they will hit you. Breathitt always has violent hitters. Ball protection for Bourbon will be paramount.

I like Bourbon...but this Breathitt team could be a wildcard at this point, so who knows?
Also EKUAlum05 is one the most enjoyable posters on this forum, definitely knows his stuff. Kudos!

Forget Belfry/Harlan Co, LCC/Hazard and others this is the game to watch Friday night. Is Bourbon really as good people say or is it the schedule they play?

Yes they are that good. They returned nearly everyone from a year ago that went 13-1 scoring 657 points and only giving up less than 200, including QB Dalton Pope who can launch it. I think Bourbon's only significant loss from last season was Hopkins.
I'll take Bourbon 45-29

Bourbon County 34 Breathitt County 22.

The first real test for Coach Moore and the Bobcats. The next four weeks feature some pretty tough competition. Bourbon is no doubt the best team they will face until playoff time, maybe all season. Still a lot of questions to be answered concerning this Bobcat team. I hope they can be competitive Friday night. You never know what will happen in high school football, that's why I love it.Breathitt has always been, and will continue to be a tough out, especially at home, that will not change...
