I'm going out on a limb and say this is going to be a high scoring game.

Rams win a very close one.

Two things defensively. Containing the edges and wrap up when u tackle. Do not try and knock baker down, because he will simply go around or by u. Wrap him up. Offensively, look to get good pick ups on 1st and 2nd down so that 3rd is not so difficult. Ball control and dont rely on the big play. Raceland does these few things and they win.

My prediction(and i hope i am wrong)
Ashland 48
Raceland 32

Again i hope ai am wrong, but after shT i heard of tonights game with EC, i just dont hae alot of faith in Raceland turning things around this year. The sr class doesnt hae enough grit. To be the "Best team in 60 years" they need to atleast, at the very least,
1. beat Ashland and Fairview,
2. win a Regional Championship.

06 and 08 beat Ashland, blasted Fairview, but were unable to finish of a NCC state champ team(06) and lose a heartbreaker to LCA(08) who became the state runner up that year. Step one of that begins Monday at practice. Oline needs to be physical like the dline.(almost the same kids, idk why it shoukd be a problem. And capitalize on turnovers.

Last year at ashland, they coughed up the ball 7 times to which ashland score 32 pts on. Rsceland lost 42-19...take the turnovers away and u sin the ball game going away. Time to show me something Raceland.

It will be a high scoring game. Racelands defense will not stop Baker and Ashlands defense won't stop anyone. I think the key will be how many touches Baker gets.

Could be the game of the week. I have faith in the Rams and hoping that they play to their ability: Rams 42-Ashland 24.
#9
Tiugh call but the Rams will be better this week. Raceland by 3.
#10
Rams by 7.

Both teams were underwhelming in there openers. Raceland was more underwhelming I think tomcats by a td. Wouldn't surprise me if I am wrong though.

Will be a good game and high scoring. Your not going to stop Baker but Ashland's defense was terrible and needs to improve a lot in practice. This game might come down to who has the ball last. Cant wait till Friday. Ashland 35 Raceland 32!!!

Ashland 35 Raceland 14. I hope I am wrong but the past several years Raceland has not proven that they are able to beat quality teams and I will have trouble picking them to win a big game until they do.
#14
I am pulling for Raceland in this one, no disrespect towards Ashland.

Raeland will have to contain that speedy back from Ashland to have a shot to win. He won't be shutdown, but he can't be allowed to have one of those 250 yards type games, with three or four Td's.

I also think Raceland will need a fast start to take this one.

The kicking game will need a monumental improvement for Raceland along with the receivers catching balls. They have four or five drops last week that I remember.

If the Def line plays as well as they did last week and the offense does not get off to the slow start they did last week, Raceland could win this one.

If a gun was put to my head I would say Ashland takes this one, but it will be close.

Those who have seen Raceland play recently, why do you think they have not been able to beat good teams? Is the coaching or the players attitudes? I have not seen Raceland play the last couple of years. I was really impressed with talent on the field then.

Raceland needs to be really Fired up! I haven't seen that mean nasty look to this team in 2-3 years now! they need to walk on the field pissed off and ready to play ball for once.

The Rams are a lot more physical then the past three or four years. The D line played very physical. A little trouble the corner play. And the safety got lost a couple times on passes. Just lucky the qb had a lot of pressure on him. And he threw wildly to a open receiver! The offensive line seemed confused on the blocking schemes. So the backs didn't have lanes to run in. The tomcats know if they can get pressure on the qb. Good things can happen for them!! Got to contain the defensive pressure. The line play on both sides of the ball and turnovers will determine the outcome of this game. No predictions thursday.

They came out Flat last year and came out Flat Sat.. Like I said if they don't come out and play Physical, Which they are and be FIRED UP they will be beat against a good team.

I was saying Raceland until The Tomcats kept as close as they did against NCC. I see Ashland is better than I expected or NCC is down a bit. I still believe NCC is a better team than Raceland, no disrespect meant to the Rams, and this game is at Ashland. I think this will be close but not sure how high the score will be. I may be wrong but I just don't think the Rams are as good offensively as NCC. I also can't see Raceland keeping Baker out of the endzone. I think he'll be there atleast 3 times.

The Rams have trouble at the corners for past 4-6 yrs. I still believe Elkins is a much better qb when he rolls out, I do not like him as a pocket passer. I think Baker will have as many yards as the Rams have for the game but the Rams d steps up and makes a goal line stand in the last seconds to win.

I'm not saying Raceland is going to win, but I think the four turnovers by NCC had something to do with Ashland keeping it so close. Raceland has to win a big game before I start putting this team in the same tier as the '06 and '08 teams.

Ashland 35-14. Raceland only scored on EC on two long plays that were stopped in the backfield and missed tackles allowed long runs, plus two scores on D. Thats 28 of 40, so Raceland did not just line up and kill EC, why do they now explode on Ashland?

I know it's only the second game of the season, but after the West scrimmage and the East game, I still don't see any killer instinct with this team. I don't like the fact that they walk on the field, they walk off the field, they walk to and from the huddle, they came out of the field house for the second half walking and at the same time, East running on the field and showing all kinds of emotion. Same team, same coaches and same schemes...

I will say it is both attitude and coaching. The teams I have seen recently seem to go through the motions at times and don't have a sense of urgency. As far as coaching goes, the offensive play calling is also not very good. As many have said before, the slant has been open for years now but it is never called. I also don't like it how they take so long to call a play at the line. Raceland will never live up to their full potential until they start doing the little things that make a team successful. I also don't like the hype from the fan base that claims this team will be the best ever. They have talent but talent can only get you so far if you cannot execute and I have not seen this group of players do that yet as most if them have seen significant playing time for the past three seasons.

I'll give NotSoBadCat some slack... maybe he didn't know last week was the start of football season.

So maybe he'll make is grand entrance in this week's thread.

After watching the Newport game Ashland fans must realize that this team is very inexperienced and will only get better, the coahing staff is identifying roles and will improve, the program is in transition, one game or two games does not define anything. There are athletes on this team, they need to play like the athletes they are. They will gain confidence in teammates and coaches as the year moves on and with confidence comes aggressiveness. I believe this team will finish abouve .500 and win a playoff game and lay a good foundation for the years to come. If I am right it will be a success. And maybe just maybe on a cold October night the wind will blow on Elm Street and the officials will signal wide right.

The walking on and off the field drives me crazy. I played for Coach Vanderhoof and he would have ripped your butt for doing that. As much as I hate to say it, it is the little things that separate Raceland from Fairview. An before anyone says something about transfers, Raceland has transfers on their team also.
