For Belfry this is the first week.

Depends on Injurys for Somerset honestly, If everyone comes out 100% of week 0 then i suspect a close game. If missing any starter at all 14+.

Should be a great game. The pads will pop in this one.

I agree You shouldnt be thinkin about us, but let's be honest, you are......I can't wait for this game it's should be a great one, but also has the potential of being one sided...sounds like both teams need to tweak certain areas before next week....if not it could be a bad for either team...

I seriously doubt any of the players are giving Belfry any kind of a thought this week. Without a doubt the Pulaski game means more to them. Belfry is just another opponent, the Pulaski County game is personal. Don't get me wrong, a win against Belfry would be a much, much more impressive win than a win against Pulaski. However, the players for Pulaski, Somerset and Southwestern see each other in town and have to live with the results of the local games for a full year--the winners make sure and let the losers know about it for that year. With the Belfry game being a regular season game and the Jumpers not being in 3A with the Pirates any more I doubt any of the players have thought about that game at all with a local rivalry game looming this week. Next week will be a different story. Next week they'll be getting excited, and honestly probably a little nervous, about making the trip to Belfry to play in one of the best stadiums in the state in front of possibly the best and most intimidating fan bases in the state. I'm sure the seniors will be telling the underclassmen about 2010 and how wild the atmosphere was...But this week they'll be all about trying to win the City Championship.

Depends on how Somerset comes out of the Pulaski game healthwise. Lange is a difference maker and his injury may have an effect. Containing one elite speedster in Cheuvront is one thing...containing a pair of elite speedsters is another thing.
Also, Belfry's scrimmage against Hazard should give us some more insight as well. Hazard has some very talented and athletic WR's..if Belfry can match up well with them it will certainly lend itself as a positive against the Jumpers

I agree Hazard has some talented and athletic WR's, but they are not the same caliber as Somersets. No offense to anyone, but facts are facts.

I agree at least wait til the week of the game.. But I will disagree saying hazard doesn't have the same caliber of athletes.

Belfry by a couple of touchdowns...

I'm going 7 points either way!! Will be one of the Best Games in the State on 8-30!!! Go Jumpers!!!!

Belfry needs this one... a vote of confidence against a strong team going into the Harlan County game would be big. Week in-week out we have some tough games that could potentially end us at 5-5... it's important to try to win some of these especially the first game of the season.

The difference maker for us us going to be defense IMO. From what I heard about the scrimmage last week there were several missed tackles which won't fly against Belfry's punishing ground game. Also, the last time we were at CAM you guys big played us to death. Defense will have to be well disciplined to come out with a win this time around. Hopefully Lange is ready to go for us by next Friday. I'll be at this one so I'm hoping for a great game.

Its not a knock on Somerset.
They play an extremely difficult schedule for a 2A school.
The Pulaski game is a toss up, i just like PC in it, but IMO, Somerset is a pretty big underdog to Belfry.

I will wait to give a prediction after the results filter in from the Somerset game tomorrow night and the Belfry/Hazard scrimmage, but I think Belfry is going to be suspect on defense early in the season and will give up some points.
