BGR Regional Power Rankings- WKY
#1
* The BGR Power Rankings are a different take on rankings offering a regional breakdown with all classes combined. These rankings are intended to be fluid with merit awarded on performance, strength of schedule, and the general "it" factor. A team is not guaranteed to retain their spot with a victory, nor are they guaranteed to move down due to a loss**

1. Bowling Green- The Defending 5A Champs are loaded and want the distinction of the best team in Kentucky OVERALL.

2. Warren Central- If only their cross town rival did not exist...

3.Mayfield- The King of the small schools.. Mayfield can go toe to toe with nearly any team Class A thru AAA.

4. Caldwell County- The Tigers came of age last season and came ever so close to pulling off a 2A Title upset. With a dynamic QB in Sindelair and an army of talented receivers they will certainly make noise this season.

5. Graves County- Graves had a bit of a breakout season last year as they proved a worth contender. They look to build off their success to challenge some of the region's best teams

I would concur with most of this except for one thing. That one thing is that Mayfield can go toe to toe with almost any team and would relish the opportunity. Watch how we do against the 2 teams we play from 6a, the 1 we play from 5a, the 2 we play from 3a and the 2 we play from 2a. Then consider that 2 of the teams are mentioned here.

Mayfield's accomplishments speak for themself. Like to see them play the 6A's from the western part of the state.

We really needed to either have something like that scheduled either one of the last four years, this year or two to three years from now. We will struggle a bit next year. We loose a bunch of seniors this year and will be very young at qb. I think 2 years from now and 3 years from now, we could be set to play just about anyone. We should be more set with depth than we have been in many many years. We have a pretty deep junior class. We have a thin sophomore class. We have a very deep freshman class, when they all come back. Some of the freshmen are setting this year out to get stronger before they try again. We have a very good 8th grade group and a very good 7th grade group. In those classes, we actually have more atheletes than GCHS who is 5a. That says something when you see GCHS being able to compete in 5a. They gave a very good Warren Central team a heck of a game last year. I like our chances to compete with anyone. Now that being said, I think if we played a Highlands, Bowling Green, St X or Trinity, it would need to be after state. The reason for this is they hit like we do and we couldn't take a lot of injuries.

I think Tilghman warrants the #5 spot over Graves. Graves won the head to head last year, but I think Tilghman is better this time while I don't think the same can be said of Graves.

Outside of Bowling Green Mayfield is 10 points better than anybody else from the west. They would make Bowling Green earn their keep.
