Warren East lost quite a bit from last year's team, however I know they return their QB Jimmy Burns and RB/LB Eli Brown who has committed to Vanderbilt. Eli will be a junior this season and he chose Vanderbilt over offers from Kentucky, Ohio State, and Western Kentucky.

Ben Bruni resigned back around the first of the year. Steve Long took over. Steve was a longtime assistant at BG, the HC at Allen Co-Scottsville for a bit and most recently came to Warren East a couple years ago as an assistant.
The boys from Smith's Grove will be awful tough once again, Eli Brown is the obvious and legit stud of the bunch, but they aren't short on athletes from top to bottom. I don't know that they can repeat a 10-0 season, but 8-2, 7-3 and competing for the region championship again is a definite. Quite honestly, I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see them go 10-0. Their first game of the year will be one of, if not their biggest challenge of the year. ACS and Franklin Simpson will be good games as well.

While I wouldn't be floored if they went undefeated, they have a few more difficult challenges this year than the last. The #1 challenge that jumps out to me is Meade County. Meade County is no slouch, especially in Brandenburg. I'd consider Meade to be the favorite for that game. They also have the usual challenge in Monroe County, which was an excellent game last year. South Warren is also poised for their best season yet, and will be a tough out.
Outside of those three games, perhaps Franklin-Simpson or AC/S might provide some resistance, but I think East gets by both this year. If there are any losses to be had, I think it's the first three I noted. I think ultimately they lose only to Meade County.

South Warren, Monroe County, and Meade County will be their toughest tests. We should know pretty early on how good they will be. Coach Long will have them ready.

Sounds like Warren East will be pretty good again this year. Meade County is always tough, that should be a good test for WE. Who will be their main competitors for the regional title? I'm assuming Owensboro and Madisonville will probably challenge them but I don't know very much about them.

With the departure of Lone Oak, I would say that yes, Owensboro and Madisonville are probably the primary competition for the region title. I actually lean towards Owensboro as the favorite right now. Owensboro only had 8 seniors on their roster, and returns 4 of their 5 lineman plus their TE, their QB, and one of their top rushers. Defensively they have a few lineman coming back (a couple of them play on both sides of the ball), a couple of linebackers, and almost their entire secondary. Their largest loss on the offensive side of the ball is their fullback who was the leading rusher. But in the Wing-T, runners are just about a dime a dozen. Usually very replaceable. The line is what bodes well for them. East only beat them 14-7 last year at East. This year it would be at Rash if both were #1 seeds - East has never won there.
If I were ranking the three teams, it would be Owensboro, then East, then Madisonville a little further back of those two.
