Yes there was some hards hits but if you look at the tape the one turnover that the Russell kid returned for a touchdown should have been called back the kid was down on the ground when he pick up the ball. Never the less that is in the past and this is the present so only time will tell. The panthers will be more battle tested this year than any year in the past, where Russell is playing a much much weaker schedule than the panthers.

panther nation Wrote:You are right he is moving to Lexington but he was not a full time starter. The kid is a good ball player but stays hurt way to much played 2 games freshman year and only play 5 games last year. So this is really not that big of a loss for the panther. That is one of our strong points we have good depth on our line.
All I know is the kid your speaking of started and played against Lexington Catholic in the 2nd round of the playoffs...IMO u can never have too many offensive linemen. I'm sure Lex Cath could find a place for him to play.

Don't get me wrong he is a good player and will be missed, but he is leaving so we just have to move along without him. Like I said though he is very injury prone so we have learned to go forth without him that's why him already wish him the best at lex Cath.

Your getting a heck of a football player the Coaching staff thought had a chance to be special when he first join the team.I believe he started his first two games of his Freshman year before he was injured. Last year he struggled on and off with injuries most of the year. This offseason I believe he has completed all the workout program.

Lets get back on subject . For the Panthers to improve on last year,They have got to get a Fieldgoal kicker last year extra points looked like the keystone cops sometimes, and losing Jeffrey at punter is big, at times I thought his biggest contribution was as a punter,I have yet to figure out why we did not run a few fakes with him.The coaching staff has got to find out if the Freshman Quarterback is going to work.If not are they going to move Barger or are they going with Soph.If they move Barger who is going to be the playmaker on the outside. They have to improved there linebacker play getting them to attack the ball instead of waiting on the ball to come to them. I know they where wanting to schedule some passing schools to sure up there secondary to get ready for the playoffs but could get no takers. If playing Harlan Co ,Bell and Whitley in back to back weeks does not beat them up to bad I believe they win 7 or 8 games this year.

That is a good summary of the challenges that lay ahead for the Panthers.

I hope it will be a good year since we will be loosing good players!

Disappointed Wrote:I hope it will be a good year since we will be loosing good players! We lose good players every graduating class. But so does every team we play. Russell lost Brit but they will have young players step in and take up the slack just as we will for Canady. It may be years before either program sees an individual star of that caliber again but the collective efforts of the team can make up for that.

We will be fine next year. May have more success than last.

I here they have about 65 to 70 out for summer conditioning,I believe this is the largest turnout they have ever had. This may be the most talented group that has ever been there but they are real young.I thing they are still planing on going with the Freshman at Quarterback that worries me a little with there schedule, but if it works out your set at Quarterback for 4 year with the most talent that has ever been at Knox central.

LOL. But I don't claim to be an unbiased voice on that topic. He will have to prove that with his play. Looking forward to this season.

I would love to get a year of freshmen and J V ball under him, but I'm sure he has good blood lines. LOL

But the fact is for where we are today he may end up being our best option even if he is a Freshmen. And if that is the choice Coach makes, I hope folks get behind him. He will make mistakes; but he loves the game and the work so he will improve quickly.

Freshmen QB's can pay off or bite you.
Whitley started Ysidro as a frosh and he will be a junior this coming year, and after all that, i wouldnt be surprised to see him moved in the backfield beside Mills before its all over with.
Whitley has a kid who will be a soph this year who has a cannon.

I will support him if he is the starting Qb or the water boy.

RunItUpTheGut Wrote:Freshmen QB's can pay off or bite you.Agreed. It all hinges on how the offensive system lines up with the abilities of the young QB and then how the young QB handles the challenge. If the system is a good fit for his abilities and he can channel the nervousness into positive energy - it will mean a four year tour that progressively gets better. If not, you may need to run the wishbone...LOL.

Does anybody know why Knox Central is playing Atherton? I have nothing against Atherton and wish them the best, but they are really really bad. They haven't won more than 1 game in a season since 2007. I'm not really sure why a team as good as Knox Central would be playing them, unless they couldn't find anyone else to play.

Even though they loose a great running back in Jeffery canada they still have allot of talent. Not to mention Jeff's brother at line backer Hayden canada that has been 200 plus since the 8th grade. This team still has many studs even with a freshman starting QB.
