Wow! I know talking to some MS folks recently. QB was a major concern for them next few years. I guess this solves that issue. Huge get for MS.

Don't blame the kid or his father. Education wise, this young man is better off getting his education at Madi South and would greatly help out the team. Good luck to this young man

Heard today he was ineligible to play at Madison Southern and transferred back to tates creek

Why would KHSAA turn it down? It's a legitimate move/ relocation. It's not like Madison Central to Madison Southern or from a city school to another city school. I thought as long as they can prove that it's a legitimate relocation, then should it's a good transfer.

I don't have a dog in the fight and wish the kid the best, but, if I remember there was a really good player for Danville two years ago in a similiar situation. It was decided he was going to move in with his Dad from his Mom's place which was moving from Danville to Junction City I think. It was after his football junior year that he moved into the Boyle County district. The KHSAA denied his request and subsequent appeals to play for Boyle County which finished his high school football career, but, he got to play after the Christmas break for Boyle on the basketball team because a year had passed. That's just on memory and I might be wrong about some things. I don't know the ins and outs of the rules, but, the case DOES sound similiar.

Point well taken, but my thing is that the school is not even in the same county. I can see just like my example from Madison Central to Madison Southern or Danville to Boyle Co. It's in Lexington and moving 50 miles further with another parent. Anyways good luck to this kid and hope he plays.

From the way I understand it (my kids point of view and him knowing the kid) TC staff made such a big deal about it, and just happened to have the "good ole" network set up with the KHSAA staff to get this stopped. Also from the way I understand it the kid isn't going to play at TC to make a point. Again, don't know the kid but talking to my son and people who do. He dad did make a move to the Berea area but Idk anymore about the case other then what I was told.

If he is not going to play at TC then why go back. why don't he just stay at madison southern and live with his father where it was better for him.

Julian Tackett is bad as the NCAA...which is the big reason why the KHSAA is so messed up.

The KHSAA is pretty clear on this subject. You CAN move from one parent house to the next, and you can play immediately. All you have to do is get a court order change in custody. If the court says custody is changed from mom to dad, then you can now move in with dad and play in the district dad lives in immediately.
It is pretty simple and a pretty good rule. Otherwise, there would be a TON of kids each year that could easily flip flop school whenever things weren't going their way.
The fact that he's going to continue to go to TC and NOT play football to "prove a point," shows that he really doesn't want to live with dad and go to MS. Looks like KHSAA did the right thing here.

Everything was done correctly and no doesnt show they got it right. As someone said earlier JT is whats wrong with the khsaa. Its the good ole boy network at ifs finest.

Again what I've been told TC threw such a fit about all of it thst he wasnt playing for them.. again idk if he will actually not play. Clearly for next level reasons it wouldn't be smart.

Something still seems amiss about the whole "proving a point" thing. If I read correctly the young man was a Sophomore who transferred in December, presumably prior to the 18th of December when the original post was made. Bottom line even if the KHSAA did rule him ineligible that would only last for a year, meaning that he would be eligible for athletics at MS presumably on or before 12/18/13. If the parents decided that it was in his best interest to go live with his dad in Berea from Lexington (roughly 30 min drive) then the question has to be asked why that decision changed upon being ruled ineligible. Regardless of if the TC staff raised enough stink to rival a pig farm. Going back to TC and not playing football to prove a point doesn't make sense as the kid will miss football season one way or another, either by his choice or by the KHSAA ruling. It seems that it would help the young man and his parents argument far more to sit at MS and become eligible for athletics in December.
I say all this to make the point that yet again, it sounds like a kid will miss a football season because of adults decisions and actions. The kid ultimately suffers and a few years down the road very very few people will be asking what if so and so hadn't missed his junior season...

I agree.. and I don't have the answer for you. Ultimately I hope it works out for him. I wasn't around him much but I know the kids really liked him.

what im saying is why didn't he stay with his father and still attend madison southern since he doesnt plan on playing football this season. he would have been eligible next season at season if he remains at southern.

I know the Father, and I think I understand what happened here pretty well... The coaching staff at Creek (along with the young mans own mother, who was never happy about the move) contested the transfer, stating that it was for athletic purposes... Since transferring for athletic purposes is against the rules, and the kids own mother was saying it was so, the KHSAA ruled him ineligible. It's really unfortunate, because I know the Dad and Graham personally and know that he was really excelling at Southern (academically, which he had been struggling at Creek, which was the real reason for his Dad moving him)... KHSAA really screwed this one up in my opinion, and they became a "court room" to help a disgruntled mother settle a domestic dispute. So Graham is transferring back to Creek, to avoid missing out on any D1 college opportunities, that might slip away if he missed is Junior year. I know Graham will work hard, and have a fine season at Creek, I just hate all this off the field distractions that he has had to deal with over the last 6 months...
