Ohio State president takes shots at Notre Dame, Catholics and the SEC
#1
Ohio State president Gordon Gee has talked himself into hot water once again.

According to the Associated Press, Gee made remarks during a December meeting of Ohio State's Athletic Council about Notre Dame, Catholics and the SEC that won't be taken too kindly.

When talking about the long courtship between the Big Ten and Notre Dame, Gee shared his experiences in dealing with the school.

"The fathers are holy on Sunday, and they're holy hell on the rest of the week," Gee said. "You just can't trust those damn Catholics on a Thursday or a Friday, and so, literally, I can say that."

Gee is a Mormon.

Notre Dame and Catholics weren'tthe only targets of Gee's jabs, as he made sure to take some shots at the SEC and Louisville as well.

When talking about what the Big Ten was looking for in a school during expansion Gee said the top goal is to "make certain that we have institutions of like-minded academic integrity. So you won't see us adding Louisville." Gee went on to say the Big Ten wouldn't be adding Kentucky, either.

Then, after being asked what his reponse would be to SEC fans who say the 14-team Big Ten can't count, Gee responded with "you tell the SEC when they can learn to read and write, then they can figure out what we're doing."

You stay classy, O$U.

IMHO, this will be the end of him this time.
You cant be that high of a figure and do this in public, or even private for that matter.
Nevermind his comments make him look more backwards than any school mentioned, and that the SEC has handed him his ass several times over again, but the fact that this isnt the first time tells me there will be a shit storm, so long as the media wants there to be.
Theyve raised hell over the Rutgers issue, lets see if this even makes sportscenter.

Why would a sane person say that in public?

I seriously doubt UK had any inkling of downgrading itself to the ill Big 10. Talk about a conference that can't count.

Gee sounds like he's getting his feathers ruffled by the boys from the Bluegrass and the Catholics to the west, recruiting so well in buckeye land.

A real leader and educator of a higher institution.

What did he say that was wrong????

Hard to believe a guy in his position would be dumb enough to say the things he said! An apology is definitely needed! Further action maybe. you just can not say something like that when you are the leader of an institution of higher learning!

That the big 10 presidents wouldn't accept UK. Any conference would love the cash cow that is UK basketball and the exposure it brings.

OSU's board of trustees says one more public slip up and he'll be looking for a new job.
