Pike County Bowl 2013
#31
PaytoPlay Wrote:Pike Co. Very likely to go 2-4. IMO

I'm thinking more like 1-5. Belfry being the only win.

3-3 at best if Pikeville & Shelby Valley pull out victories. These 2 games along with the Belfry games should be good games. The other 3 not so much.

Hazard is Hazard, and they are going to be some tuff competition for the Panthers. Imo, Pikeville has the best shot of knocking them off this season than they have had in a while. It's early, but going with the Panthers.

Glad to see the Pike County Bowl bring in some competition. It is nothing like it used to be.

I don't expect the Jumpers to lay down for Belfry. You're going to get a shot at one of the better Somerset teams that I've seen. Anything can happen, and I'm sure it will be competitive but if you're counting on Belfry to pull you to 1-5 then you may need to get prepared for 0-6.

I'm sure those incoming Somerset seniors remember very clearly the last game of their freshman year on the same field they'll be on for the Pike County Bowl. Glad to see a tough Somerset team early, should be a dandy!

Good early matchup for both teams. Somerset will get to see a good hard-nosed Belfry team which will be good for them in the 2A playoffs, and Belfry will get to see a very fast Somerset team which will be good for them late in the 3A playoffs.

Yes I believe Belfry is the 30th, as well as Shelby Valley, with Pikeville games on the 31st. Gonna go out a limb and make way too damn early predictions

SVHS - 12
Paris - 20

Hurley, VA - 19
East Ridge - 22

Betsy Layne - 35
Phelps - 6

Henry Clay - 55
Pike Central - 7

Pikeville - 21
Hazard - 20

Belfry - 28
Somerset - 20

Waiting to see if it is a 2 or 3 day event.

Can't remember where but I swore I read they might have the games THURS,FRI AND SAT.

2 GAMES PER-NIGHT Which I thnik is perfect.

I'm fairly certain it is not. I think, THINK that Friday will be Belfry/Somerset, Phelps/BL at Belfry, Paris/SV, ER/Hurley at SV, and on Saturday Pikeville/Hazard, Pike Central, Henry Clay.
#42
That sucks noway to watch all of the games.
#43
Its scheduled so you can watch the better marque games
#44
Going to the three day format would bring in more money.
#45
I don't think so, to be honest. The numbers at Shelby Valley were WAY down from what they were at Belfry. I would say either way the SV crowd will be relatively low. Even if they did have it in a 3 day format. Those just aren't "headline" games... great games for schools of that level ABSOLUTELY though.
#46
I most likely will go to the games at Valley and Pikeville.

They are a straight drive for me and then if my friend Wheeler sends me the games on tape I will watch the two I missed in person.
#47
I heard that, you will be missing what has a chance to be a classic at Belfry though.

Coming from Northern Ky. Don't miss the Belfry Vs. Somerset Game could be one of the better games of the Year,

Pikeville vs Hazard & Belfry vs Somerset should be the best two games. If i was making the drive down i would be sure to watch these two games. Belfry is less than 30 minutes from Pikeville. Straight shot on RT 119.
#50
I have been there, to Pikeville several times.

I do understand the better games are at Belfry but I will or should be able to see them on tape and see the ones at Pikeville and Valley in person.

Will be a great time for me.
#51
I'm pretty sure Belfry/Somerset and Pike Central/Henry Clay will both be played at Belfry on Friday night.

Then in 2014 it will be Pike Central/Somerset and Belfry/Henry Clay.

With Central plating on Friday at Belfry I will be heading there. I do not see them beating or coming close to beating H-Clay, but I want to see them play.
#54
From what I'm hearing, BL/Phleps-SV/Paris Thursday, ER/Hurley-Somerset/Belfry Friday, and PCC/HC-PHS/HHS Saturday.

That would be perfect.

Just seems like an odd set up to have ER (the farthest county team from Belfry) playing at BHS when ER is really close to SV.

I'm sure it'll change before now and then. Either way, it's not a big deal, I don't think.
#58
The Shelby Valley schedule I have says SV will play on Friday night Aug. 30.
#59
Any updates on this?
I am waiting to make my hotel reservations.

Still only three games listed on the K.H.S.A.A. page.
