Shelby valley new coach?
#31
Tubby Smith has been seen walking the halls of Virgie and Dorton. Best choice In my opinion.

Tubby always said he love the Wildcats

It's a shame but I beleive Doe Doe will be denied the chance he deserves. Mark my words, these kids will either get a big name that has no experience and wont know what to do, or an over the hiller thats ready to retire that wont care. Shame all this talent goes to waste.

There is many reasons why he has been told he can not get this job. Loyalty to previous staff is one of them. If he wants a head coaching job so bad, then move somewhere and get one. Prove yourself worthy to run one of the premier jobs in eastern Kentucky. Then when it comes open again, apply for it. If not, go help your brother and bash the new coach on here and in the community.

Very well said. He don't deserve anything. From what I hear, him and the other daddy on the staff was Valley's biggest problem. Talking about coach Newsome behind his back and even talking about kids on the team.I've said it the whole time, this team will go nowhere until those two daddy's on the bench is gone.Sad, cause this team has the talent to do very well, but two coaches(daddy's)are ruining this teams chances.I guess some parents will do anything or say anything to get their kid playing time!! Shame!!

Hate to break it to everyone, but SV is not even the premier program in the 15th much less the mountains. It is like saying Pikeville is the premier football team in the mountains. You cant live on past performance when you have done nothing since 2010. Talent level has not been close since then, blame Greg all you want but Booher saw the same thing coming and bolted.

If not SV, then who?

Please do not say Johnson Central.

Johnson Central has 300 more students than ANYONE in this region and it has taken the best basketball class they have ever had and an ESPN Top 150 player to win back to back Region titles.

I think Doe Doe would be the best coach in house. His work ethic and knowledge is way higher than anyone else SV has in house. The problem with Doe Doe is this job would be a bad situtation for him and the team. Because who ever the new is coach they will have to change these kids work ethic and approach to the game. This is very hard to do with juniors and seniors with out making an example of one or two of them and this would be hard to do with your kid playing thats why I think it is bad situtation for Doe Doe.
#39
Hopefully they will find a good coach with politics staying away from it. Thats what I felt was Greg down fall because all of his haters can say what they want but he knows basketball.
#40
You must be outside your mind. What does enrollment have to do with it? And you make the argument for them with your statement about JC. I can't even really tell if you are praising JC or slamming them with that post.
#41
JC or Painstville are a better choice, if you talk recently then JC, traditionally then Painstville. I am from Pike County but you all think you still have 2010 talent and you dont. Greg has done what he can with what he has to work with.
#42
Randy Davis would be an excellent choice.

Says the guy who has proven himself to be absolutely wrong on just about everything he posts.

Here's a few of those examples:

"Spurlock is coming to JC".........WRONG

"Spurlock lives in Van Lear".........WRONG

"McKenzie will be the new AD after he leaves as coach".....WRONG.....uh, he's already the AD.

"the best basketball class they have ever had".....WRONG......the 1970 class was ranked #3 in the state, the '75 team ended the regular season ranked #7 in the state.......and the last two classes dont even come close to the 2000 team.

If not SV, then I got news for you, IT IS JC. JC has won 4 regional titles since 2000. Name another team in that time span that has won more than one, other than SV. I believe if I were you I would just keep my thoughts to myself, because you obviously dont appear to have the first clue as to ANYTHING that you rattle on about.Confusednicker:

Actually until the mid to late 80's, Paintsville had been very very very average when it came to basketball. Football and baseball great traditions, but they had no basketball tradition what so ever, and then that string of great teams ended in 1998. They have had only one regional championship team in the last 15 years. That being in 2007.

1 I said Spurlock coming was being talked about and a rumor, and that is exactly what is was.

2. I was wrong on where he lives....woooo

3. I know he is A.D., and was told he was thinking about doing only that, coming from someone who talks to him on a weekly basis.

You can say whatever you want, JC is an underachiever in basketball. Coach McKenzie has done a wonderful job, despite what he is forced to put up with. This region is also as weak as it has ever been the past 2 years.

Shelby Valley has done more in 20 some odd years than JC has done in 45.......with a smaller enrollment..........keep dreaming.

Hey simpleton, I did say other than Shelby Valley.

Fact is, you didn't, and still dont have a clue. You better go back and check your old posts. You were telling it as fact. What are you, 14? 15? 17? perhaps 12? ....lol

BTW, Name me that one other team there Goober???

That should be 2008. It was the 2007-2008 season.

David Osborne is a basketball Mastermind. Hire that guy, he is already in the system.

Ok, lets hear your reasoning! Head coach experience? Middle school head coach experince? Assistant for a winning program for years?

I heard that Jason Booher was looking to come back to eastern kentucky the former shelby vally coach and current Holmes coach, I know hes got a great soph and a great team but thats the talk. just saying

April Fools! at least I hope you meant it to be. he isn't looking to come back folks. he's got a lot of resources where he is at. had a pretty good year this year, pretty good teams for the future.

One question...why hasn't this job been offered to Randy Davis? He is by far the best fit for the program, he understands its tradition and is by far one of, if not, the best teacher in the grade school level. This should be his job hands down.
#53
Randy Davis would be the perfect man for the job. Workaholic. Knows the game. Knows the kids. Knows the parents. Knows who supports the program. Remember, its not the X's and O's. Its the Jimmies and Joes. If you give Randy the Jimmies and Joes, I know he can win. Hes a great X and O guy to by the way. Sometimes you do better keeping things simple. Basketball is not Rocket Science like some may think.
#54
Randy Davis, Randy Davis, Randy Davis.....this is an easy choice for SV.

SV Nation stop making it harder than it is.
#55
The right man for the job is in there backdoor

I agree 100%. Great guy that can coach.
#57
I like Randy. From the players I have talked with he is liked and respected as well. It really would be a good fit.
#58
Have to chime in,
I agree RANDY DAVIS....
Great guy, great coach. and he deserves a chance...
If he wants it that is.
#59
I also agree Coach Davis would be a great choice, but Coach Davis isn't interested in the position, at least he wasn't the last time I spoke with him.
#60
Randy Casey from Belfry will be next coach at Shelby Valley. He stepped down at Belfry and he is looking to start a new chapter somewhere else and he would be a great fit.
