With Lawrence playing so well who really is the best team in the district? Magoffin, Lawrence, Paintsville, or Johnson Central?

Magoffin Co. has been playing some really good ball thus far in the season. Hope they keep it up.

With johnson central losing to Greenup 3-2 and Lawrence beating them looks like Lawrence and Magoffin might be the two best in the 57th District.

I think it is between Johnson Central and Lawrence County not only for the district but for the region. JC will be right there like always.

How can you get a read on Magoffin? They play a soft schedule to get wins.

Magoffin schedule is soft. However, they are doing what a good and very young team should to weaker teams. Magoffin, from top to bottom, may be the most talented team in the region. They are intimidated by Lawrence or Central and past years tell you the program on same level. Once again, the 57th is clearly the class of the the 15th region.

You are right about Magoffin's schedule thus far. It does look like it gets a little harder as the year goes on. I think two things play a role in Magoffin's scheduling. One is that the 15 th region overall is weak, and the other is the cost of traveling. it's hard to make the trips to play the elite teams in the state on a limited budget. I still feel at the end this team will make a good run and will be one the 4 or 5 teams that can win the region.

I do agree that the cost of travel is crazy. I just looked at some score and JC and LC are in Myrtle Beach playing. Must be nice to play some really good teams, but there could be a down side to that. Considering that they won't see the same kind of pitching in the 15th region, they may have trouble adjusting to the different levels of pitching. I'm sure Magoffin has a nice team and I know wins can really help a young group. But come tournament time it's nice to have been in a higher level tourney to get your players ready. Just my opinion.

Yes, and seems to me, this same team played a weak schedule last year?? I can go back and look on here at the same comments about them then...However, they showed up in the end as a top team in the region...semi-finals...I still believe the 15th Region winner will come from the 57th...East Ridge is about the only other team that can compete with these teams...IMO.

Every coach has there own opinion on how they like to start there season out , some like to face the better opponents early and some later. That's all part of coaching but when it gets to tournaments and district and region all that matters is winning and some teams get flushed out early when the best teams stay to the end it's all a chess game .
