Why haven't we heard lot about this school if they got that many colleges at games?

They've been talked about, just not a lot. Know UK has been watching sophomore Jamar Ergas, a nasty dunker. Also, Mikyle McIntosh, UCLA after him.

They aren't a part of the KHSAA
They're a club team

Sure is a lot of high profile athletes in East Kentucky playing for teams no one has ever heard of these days. Basketball is just getting weird around here.
03-25-2013, 02:27 PM
Looked real good against that Grade School Team he was playing against. Those kids need to be living with foster families and go to the real high schools around here or some where else. And academy for just basketball players is silly. Don't care if they are from Puerto Rico, Russia, or wherever. They need an education.

Y in the world would someone put elite talent against Wesley Christian School?

Guess I shoulda rephrased that, I've not seen any posts on here of them since I've been here, of course I'm basically new here. I'm going Thurs night and watch them in hazard. Don't really know a lot about them. Talk with one of their players from time to time. Have saw a few clips of Jamar who UK is watching, know he can jump out of the gym for a 6'4" guard. But most of his clips are dunks, 360, between the leg stuff. Have learned one thing in life, you cannot study a player from YouTube, if so, Hunter McClintock would be all world by now.

Wesley Christian School is trying to get to this level

Oh, a little more on Jamar. He was the runner-up to Julius Randle last year in the Elite 24 Dunk Contest in Venice Beach, Calif.

Disagree, their still getting an education. Players go to Oak Hill and Dematha just for basketball only also to better help them for a college and pro career. Notables at UK from just basketball schools, Ron Mercer, Cliff Hawkins, Jules Camara, Rajon Rondo, Doron Lamb from Oak Hill. Keith Bogans from Dematha.

That's their European page, but same thing, actually a good place if you want a basketball career.

You know just because the kid can dunk you are comparing him to Randle... How about Wiggins?? You going to compare him to Andrew Wiggins?? I don't think so. There's a kid that plays for Pikeville in the 15th region that can dunk also, but no one compares him to Jabari Parker!
03-25-2013, 08:03 PM
^He wasn't comparing them. Just stating a fact.

Oak Hill and Dematha have other students not just basketball players.
Check the enrollment at Oak Hill and Dematha and get back to me. Those are
Established schools that have accredited teachers. What does 22 ft academy have?
What is their curriculum like?

I believe the kids attend breathitt county high school and have to pay tuition to the county school system.

They take online classes due to khsaa throwing a fit over them being a prep school and kicked em out at breathitt. All their classes are legit. As big of a microscope as the NCAA is, sure they are getting a decent education. Their dreams are playing college ball and possibly the NBA. What the school is designed for. Set up for foreign players to play in America. Not every kid wants to go to a public school. Enrollment at Oak Hill is around 125-150, about 50K a year to attend there. Not sure about Dematha but sure about the same. Long as they make the grades, what's the problem?

The tuition is high but the most of the basketball players are at these schools on scholarships and pay nothing.
03-27-2013, 10:17 AM
Online classes just dont cut it. You can always let someone else do it for you. I know they are excellent players but how many of them will be pros down at the 2 ft academy? Probably NONE.

I watched them and was very unimpressed. Vargas didn't play, but the team they beat was by no means an all-star team. They could not have won the State Tournament.
03-27-2013, 05:49 PM
Who do they play Thursday and what time?
03-27-2013, 06:52 PM
No idea who they play Thurs, is at 7:30. Play AAU team from Louisville Fri at Wolfe Co high school, 7:30.
