#1
Final
#2
Congrats to Wayne County on their ninth regional championship in school history!

Congrats to Somerset on a great season! Jeff Cothron did an awesome job this year.
#3
Proud of these guys. They came a LONG way from a season ago.
#4
Has coach Woods Led the Cardinals to all of their Sweet 16 births?
#5
2 words.... Rodney Woods
#6
Cong: to Wayne Co. Coach Woods does a Great Job. Somerset Cong: on a Wonderful season and Coach Cothrag Good Job, things look bright in the future.
#7
Great game by Wayne County. If they shoot like that they will be a tough out at Rupp. Congratulations Wayne. Great season Briar Jumpers. You guys have a lot to be proud of.
#8
Rodney Woods is a class act and without a doubt the best in the high school ranks. He is the Mike Kizyzeski of high school basketball!
You never hear about Coach Woods and Wayne Co. recruiting kids to play there. He takes home grown boys and wins with them.

All but one.

If Wayne County make 10 three-pointers like they did last night, they will be tough to beat.

Congrats to Wayne on yet another Regional championship! It was earned beating some great competition every game!

However, they better shoot lights out and than some if they want to advance at Rupp.

They'll have a dreaded first round matchup with Central! I think they'll prove to be way to much for Wayne!

Congrats to Wayne Co on the win!

Briar Jumpers were impressive throughout the Tournament! I don't think anyone expected them to even win a game in the Region Tournament.

Jeff Cothron is the 12th Region coach of the year if not coach of the year in the entire state! Pretty big accomplishment to go from going 11-14 and taking a 1st Rd exit in the district tournament to a 20-10 record this year and a 12th Region Champioship game appearance!

Congrats to both teams on fine seasons. Rodney Woods is the dean of 112th region coaches.

Saw this on Wayne County's Facebook page:

1 Casey County
1 Danville
1 Harrodsburg
1 Mercer County
1 Monticello
1 Pulaski County
1 Southwestern
2 Laurel County
2 Lincoln County
2 West Jessamine
3 Boyle County
3 South Laurel
8 Wayne County

Have to think the region champs have the coach of the year

IF Somerset does not get the transfer from McCreary Central they dont get out of district. somerset and Southwestern both recruit like crazy in that area. Wright is one of the worst. I was really glad to see them lose.

I don't think you can say Somerset is a big recruiting school because one kid transfers to Somerset in the past 20 years that's a decent basketball player. I think it has been just the opposite over the years. I think if Taylor Gover, Tyler Goins, D.J. Townsend would have all stayed at Somerset, SHS would have been at Rupp the last 3 years.

I take nothing away from Wayne. They shot lights out! As for Rodney Woods Class act? I am not so sure about that. The guy has not one a distict in a few years now and I have seen NUMEROUS times where he hasn't shaken the opponents hand. The guy is all about his W and L not his kids. Just saying. Class act is win or lose you respect your opponent.
But congrats to the KIDS at wayne. They played their hearts out.

Im not a Wayne fan but woods has the record to prove he is the best coach in region. whether or not somerset is a big recruiter, they recruited the kid from mccreary. and without him they would not have been there. as for gover and company, you all must not have had much to offer or they would not have left.

Somerset traditionally has not had a lot to offer that's why everyone in Somerset was suprised someone transferred in instead of out. But, then when you look and see what McCreary had to offer, well........
#21
Woods is the best coach in the region if not the state.
#22
The Kid from McCreary was not recruited by Somerset. Lot's of things went on that caused the move.
#23
At one time against Somerset, PC had 4 kids that were once at Somerset playing against them. Laign, Gover, Hall, Goins. A little bit off the main thread but pertains to comments.
#24
If wayne plays as well as they did in the second half against central they give them a nice game, still believe they'll be too much for woods and company though

This just sounds like a bitter fan to me. Somerset does not recruit. The kids that transfer in do so mainly because of the football program, which doesn't need to recruit.

Are you going to enlighten the thread of those things?

I wouldn't go there....Goins moved to Pulaski in middle school,Gover never lived in Somerset district anywa, his sister graduated from SWHS. Not sure where the Laigns live. As far as that wasn't the Dishman kid at SWHS just a couple years ago? To my knowledge his family has never moved, how was he even eligible to play? As far as Williams, if you think a kid just happens to move his Senior year? Well, enough said.

To some extent that is true....but only partly.

He shopped himself around knowing a couple of things....1. McCreary's talent pool was way down, 2. Raider Rob is a poor coach is has disguised that fact with great talent in the past.

Bottom line he chose a situation that was better for him....over a couple of different teams.

Raider Rob Jones is the worst coach in the state.
