Whew I'm glad the Tigers didn't have to play the Jags again for the fourth time. This game should be a humdinger.
Bears 66
Tigers 67
If Tigers shot foul shots like they did earlier tonight the bears will beat them by 10.

Go black bears!
I'm a Middlesboro fan all the way, but two other teams that I love behind them are Cumberland Gap (TN) and Harlan County!
Clay County, I hate to tell you this, but..
You'll never leave Harlan alive..

I think Harlan County will win this one in another close one. We usually play good defense. We will have to play great defense to keep them from scoring and I think we will come out on top!!! Go Black Bears!!!

I just have a great feeling that Harlan County is going to be Region Champs in Football, Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball!!!!!! Good luck to the girls tomorrow and the boys tomorrow night.

Should be a great game in Harlan, KY. Game could go either way.

HC can't afford to come out tight with the regional title on the line, they must play defense like they did in the second half of tonights game, if they do this one will go down to the wire in an epic battle, better get there early.

Clay will be to much for HC. Home court will help. Clay is the better team. I think they win in a close one. The old saying, "you have to lose one before you win one" . Just a prediction. Looking for a great game.
The region should go from school to school. Areana court is to far removed from fans. Our district at Harlan High was great atmosphere. That was high school BB. I like the region at each school, by far more exciting.

I agree 100% this tourney at Harlan County has been great, hats off to Harlan for the nicest high school gymnasium in the state. I hate the Arena in Corbin, if they have to move it back there next year, please move the court into one end so the fans can be closer to the game, also get rid of the reserved seating. I hate it, I love to sit with my peeps without being bugged by Seat Nazi's.

Thank you OldTiger!! Pappy Bear and I went to a George Jones concert at the Arena and it was fantastic!! But, with you, I don't like the basketball games held there. I feel like I'm watching them on TV.....

Not many share that viewpoint though. I hope the tradition of having the regional tournament in high school gymnasiums will continue next year!!

The magic number for the Tigers is 65. If they can score 65-70 points it will be extremely difficult for the Bears to keep up. This Harlan County team has took the same path as MOST Mike Jones coached teams and has really struggled scoring points. I think this HC team is built to run and put up a lot of points, much like the teams at Clay, specifically '04. Coach Jones seems to put the brakes on his teams way too much. If Harlan County can keep this one in the 50's you have to like their chances playing at home. I expect a hard fought game, but in the end I expect Reed to step up for Clay and make some big time plays to end the skid. I also look for Rice to continue his solid play. The kid has gained a ton of confidence since the beginning of the year and he is a really difficult match up for Harlan County. I think his size would and athleticisim would give Massingile some problems, and if Miller guarded him it would give Clay an advantage inside with either Lyttle or Bowling. Jones could play zone, but I would be surprised because of how North handled his zone in the first half, and because of the way Clay has shot it in the first two rounds.

Rice's play has been unbelievable all tournament!! This kid has really impressed me.

It's impressed Clay fans as well. To see where this kid came from just to become a contributor is nothing short of spectecular. To see him turn into a star and leader during the biggest games of his life is unthinkable. Couldn't happen to a more deserving kid. A hard worker that has had some bumps in the road has finally figured it out. Just how it's supposed to happen.

I preached since Rice was a freshman that the kid had some talent. It is awesome to see the kids hardwork payoff. Look for McDaniel to continue his stellar play, and hopefully Kody Reed will step up as a senior. The inside matchup will be huge in the outcome. And as always, foul trouble!!!

I know nothing about this kid personally, but this suggests to me that he has a great story behind him!! I love this crap!!
Best of luck to him!!

Looking back at scores on the KHSAA page Harlan Co. has scored above 65 several times this year. I believe they do a good job mixing the pace of the game. Good teams can run and slow the pace down both. That is a good example of both of the teams in the 13th region finals. I believe North Laurel was putting the brakes on last night. They done a good job of slowing the pace of the game. Good Luck to both teams

Just from glancing at Clay's scores it seems as if they are 17-1 when scoring 65 or more. Their one loss was a 4 point defeat by Ashland who had 16th region favorite Fleming County on the ropes the other night. Early on HC scored a pretty good number. I'm looking at post-WYMT. So basically the last two months. You're right they have scored over 65 some in that stretch, but it looks like Corbin and Montgomery are the only two teams they did it against that can play. Middlesboro is an exception because of how they play. You can be rather ineffecient against them and still post a large number. North did throw the brakes on, but Harlan County didn't do anything to speed it up. They sped it up in the 3rd to make their run and take the lead, then they were content to let North sit on it. I felt like if they kept running in the late 3rd they could have extended that to double digits.

Good luck to the Black Bears tonight! Especially to the seniors who will be playing their last home game. :Cheerlead

Clay County is hungry guys. Shot absolutely terrible from the line last night. If The Tigers stay out of foul trouble and even hit a few more free throws, I like my boys. Predictions out the window, 1 game at a time.

Clay is a different team then they were in January, but the Black Bests know what it takes to beat them. If the home crowd can get and stay loud should give the Bears a boost!

Basketball is all about matchups! Even though Clay has played really well so far in the tournament I believe HC gives them matchup problems.. I believe that if we can get our talented 6'5 sophomore center mentally ready for this game tonight he will be a HUGE matchup problem for Clay, also another big weapon of HC's is A. Caldwell inside and I believe he can score on whoever they put on him. I'm not saying Clay is weak inside, but our 2 best interior players will have a good opportunity to be productive tonight!! Clay is playing well, but I do believe that HC is the last team they wanted to see in the finals!!! The entire HC program is HIGHLY motivated and look like they have the confidence to get it done tonight!!! Lets get out tonight Black Bear Nation and inspire this group to VICTORY!!!!!!
