Rumor is that Southwestern interviewed former Danville DC Jerry Perry today.

I heard rumors that they were going to also interview Steve Jewell don't know it that is true or not.

Perry was a tough cat to clean up after at Garrard County before he went to Danville. A very good coach in my opinion.

It seems like every coach available has been rumored to interview at Southwestern. Good thing we have Bluegrass Rivals to keep up with them all! :biglmao:

Confirmed on Perry, Jewell is just a rumor.

One of the best defensive minds in the state, hands down. 50 years old and has the energy, intensity level of someone just getting started. Film wise, he'll know the team (and, get his players on the same page) he is playing better than they know themselves.

I know that Coach Stephens and the board interviewed him for an assistant job but I haven't heard if its OC or DC.

Lol where Donnie and that awesome defense going?

Any defensive coordinator with high school experience would be an upgrade for Southwestern. Coach Perry would be a very nice hire.

With him being at Danville so long, was he not asked to come back there? I mean to me from Danville to SW is a down grade.

I think he might be looking for a new job due to the fact that he applied for the head coaching job at Danville and didn't get it. Purely speculation on my part though.

This would a quality hire for the program, especially since last years debacle. Coach Perry is a good DC when he has 11 ATHLETES on the field. Mad or not about being passed over for the HC job at Danville, I honestly don't see this. I mean Jerry Perry (qualified to be the HC of 95% of the programs in the state) is going to work under/for Andy Stephens. Maybe Nick Saban will come coach DB's under Perry after he gets there. Surely Butcher can turn over a few more rocks in Liberty and find Andy some quality help.

I'm not sure what you think you mean by this statement but Jerry Perry is very highly regarded in coaching circles and has won at Garrard county as well as Danville.

Wasn't meant to be negative toward him--Lot of respect for the guy.
thus the "(qualified to be the HC of 95% of the programs in the state)"
I'm pretty sure he would be the first to tell you the ATHLETES that have played for him account for his success.

His knowledge of the game and experience at Danville would help out a ton for Southwestern. Hope to see him hired!
