Personally, I think Dominique Hawkins (Madison Central) should win it because IMO he's the best player in the state.

But....
I think Derek Willis (Bullitt East) will win it because Kentucky is recruiting him. Omar Prewitt may have a shot at it as well, he's been hyped up for the last 3 or 4 years... Don't get me wrong Willis and Prewitt are both GREAT players but they both are mostly just offense.. I haven't seen a better all around player in the state then Hawkins.

Willis.

Willis going to UK may help him getting Mr. Basketball.
#8
Hawkins deserves it. Best player I've seen play this year.

Hahahahhahahahahahaha

The big O from MoCo (Prewitt) has been my pick all year.

Only seen Omar play once and it was against one of the better defensive teams in the state in Trinity. He had a really tough game against them something like 2 for 17. I could see him winning it though if Willis/Troutman/Hicks split the Louisville votes. I would agree with other posters that Hawkins is the best player in the state and I have seen all five play.

Willis will get the nod because of UK.

Have seen them all play multiple games each. I love Troutmans game , he fits the Mr. Bball mold. Hawkins is crazy athletic and plays hard all the time. Willis is easily the most versatile, have watched him play all 5 positions and play them well. Not to mention he is the only one of the 5 that draws double and triple teams every time he touches it. He has to be the hardest player to prep for of the 5. You could have easily switched James Quick for Hicks for this , Omar is very good but has not played the schedule that the other 4 have....his numbers are from a weak region in a bad year.

Is Jordan Majors a longshot, if Hoptown makes a deep run?
#15
I personally feel like Hawkins should get it. But that's just my opinion. All of them are great players.
#16
Wouldn't be surprised to see Willis, Troutman, Prewitt or Hawkins take it. I would be surprised to see Hicks though.
#17
Prewitt and Hawkins chances just got better.

With the early exit of Bullitt East, Derek Willis will probably not win Mr. Basketball. I have said all season that he and Hawkins are the 2 best players in the state. Willis is 6'9". 7'2" wingspan, 40 percent 3point shooter. Good athlete. Great ball handler. Plays point guard if needed. Excellent passer. 160 blocked shots last season. Very coachable. Extremely competitive. How many players have come out of this state with that size & ability. Just because ESPN has him unserrated doesn't mean you can't be impressed!

D. Willis is a great player but Hawkins is the best player in the state this yr and he is a senior. I've said all along that he is the most underrated players ever n ky and he is the best player that no one has heard of!!! The kid is flat out a big time D1 player. He is gonna b a steal for some school. Trust me on that!!

^ I've been saying the samething for the last 2 years!!

TY, me and you have agreed on this for a while now. D1 schools better come and watch this kid. He is a true player and has the game to back it up.

Each time I've seen Hawkins play he has been outstanding. Sure seems like Cal could make room for him. Pitino should have already offered! We'll agree to disagree on who's the better basketball player!
